This study is focused on applying heavyweight concrete to ballast used to have stability of a ship. Generally, heavyweight concrete is made from a high density aggregate like magnetite or limonite. However, these materials are hard to obtain them from relevant companies and so expensive. Therefore, this study plans to product heavyweight ballast concrete which is easy to obtain by recycled iron slag. Heavyweight ballast concrete isn't required to meet some compressive strength in use, but it is required to have high flowable and 2.7t/m3 of bulk density to fill the ballast tank densely. The designed field mix proportion of concrete based on the results of pre-experiment shows it can control the temperature crack and has superior chloride corrosion resistance after conducting chloride corrosion experiment. Also, it is prefer that before airtightness voltile corrosion inhibiter(VCI) is added in airtight space of shipyard.

The paper evaluates the effect of the physical property, fineness modulus (FM) and replacement ratio of crushed sand on the characteristics of concrete. This is intended to use crushed sand from Daegu-Kyungbuk region as the fine aggregate of concrete. The experimental result indicates that the replacement ratio of crushed sand needs to be less than 50% to satisfy the mixed gradation of both natural and crushed sand when their FMs are 2.0 and 3.2, respectively. The slump of concrete with crushed sand increased as the replacement ratio of crushed sand increased, while the workability of concrete with the replacement ratio of more than 75% was significantly reduced. The air content and bleeding rate of concrete was reduced as the replacement ratio increased. Furthermore, due to the enhancement of the concrete adhesive regardless of the FM of crushed sand, compressive strength of concrete tended to improve as the replacement ratio increased.
The present investigation is to identify an optimum mix combination amongst 28 different types of artificial lightweight aggregates by pelletization method with aggregate properties. Artificial aggregates with different combinations were manufactured from fly ash, cement, hydrated lime, ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS), silica fume, metakaolin, sodium bentonite and calcium bentonite, at a standard 17 minutes pelletization time, with 28% of water content on a weight basis. Further, the artificial aggregates were air-dried for 24 hours, followed by hardening through the cold-bonding (water curing) process for 28 days and then testing with different physical and mechanical properties. The results found the lowest impact strength value of 16.5% with a cement-hydrated lime (FCH) mix combination. Moreover, the lowest water absorption of 16.5% and highest individual pellet crushing strength of 36.7 MPa for 12 mm aggregate with a hydrated lime-GGBFS (FHG) mix combination. The results, attained from different binder materials, could be helpful for manufacturing high strength artificial aggregates.
In this study, recycled aggregates crushed from waste concrete were sorted into three groups, 10-13 mm, 13-20 mm, and 20-25 mm. They were treated in different ways and then their crushability was evaluated for each treatment. Coffee waste was used for reducing their pH level. The pH of recycled aggregate was almost 11, regardless of aggregate sizes. The pH of coffee waste was nearly 5 and 10, 30, or 50 g of coffee waste was mixed with 1000 ml of distilled water and recycled aggregates. The lowest pH was about 6.2 when 50 g of coffee waste was mixed. Aggregates were treated with microwave or soaked for 1 day in vinegar (pH = 2) for neutralization reaction. Microwave treated and neutralized aggregates showed 3.3% and 6.2% higher crushing values compared to non-treated one, respectively. Neutralized treatment was more effective for crushing. In crushing tests, a sample height of 120 mm was tried, which gave 6.3% higher crushing value. A four stepped loading with each 100 kN gave 7.1% higher crushing value, compared to standard 100 mm height and 400 kN continuous loading.
Due to the construction difficulties of steel reinforced concrete (SRC), a new composite structure of steel and steel fiber reinforced concrete (SSFRC) is proposed for solving construction problems of SRC. This paper aims to investigate the bond properties and composition of interfacial bond stress between steel and steel fiber reinforced concrete. Considering the design parameters of section type, steel fiber ratio, interface embedded length and concrete cover thickness, a total of 36 specimens were fabricated. The bond properties of specimens were studied, and three different methods of calculating interfacial bond stress were analyzed. The results show: relative slip first occurs at the free end; Bearing capacity of specimens increases with the increase of interface embedded length. While the larger interface embedded length is, the smaller the average bond strength is. The average bond strength increases with the increase of concrete cover thickness and steel fiber ratio. And calculation method 3 proposed in this paper can not only reasonably explain the hardening stage after the loading end curve yielding, but also can be applied to steel reinforced high-strength concrete (SRHC) and steel reinforced recycled coarse aggregate concrete (SRRAC).

The aim of this study is to investigate experimentally the effect of the combination of fine particle cement with high Blaine fineness (FC) and recycled aggregates on the engineering properties and micro structure of high volume blast furnace slag (BS) concrete with 75% BS and 21 MPa. FC manufactured by particle classification at the plant with Blaine fineness of more than $7000cm^2/g$ was used as additional alkali activator for high volume blast furnace slag concrete made with recycled fine and coarse aggregates. FC was replaced by 15, 20 and 25% OPC. Test results showed that the incorporation of FC resulted in an increase in the compressive strength compared to BS concrete without FC by as much as 30% due to accelerated hydration and associated latent hydraulic reaction. It was found that the use of FC and recycled aggregates played an important role in activating BS for high volume BS concrete by offering sufficient alkali.
To investigate and evaluate the seismic damage behaviors of steel reinforced recycled concrete (SRRC) filled circular steel tube composite columns, in this study, the cyclic loading tests of 11 composite columns was carried out by using the load-displacement joint control method. The seismic damage process, hysteretic curves and performance indexes of composite columns were observed and obtained. The effects of replacement rates of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA), diameter thickness ratio, axial compression ratio, profile steel ratio and section form of profile steel on the seismic damage behaviors of composite columns were also analyzed in detail. The results show that the failure model of columns is a typical bending failure under the combined action of horizontal loads and vertical loads, and the columns have good energy dissipation capacity and ductility. In addition, the replacement rates of RCA have a certain adverse effect on the seismic bearing capacity, energy consumption and ductility of columns. The seismic damage characteristics of composite columns are revealed according to the failure modes and hysteretic curves. A modified Park-Ang seismic damage model based on the maximum displacement and cumulative energy consumption was proposed, which can consider the adverse effect of RAC on the seismic damage of columns. On this basis, the performance levels of composite columns are divided into five categories, The interlayer displacement angle and damage index are used as the damage quantitative indicators of composite columns, and the displacement angle limits of composite columns at different performance levels under 80% assurance rate are calculated as 1/105, 1/85, 1/65, 1/28, and 1/25 respectively. On this basis, the damage index limits corresponding to each performance level are calculated as 0.045, 0.1, 0.48, 0.8, and 1.0 respectively. Finally, the corresponding relations among the performance levels, damage degrees, interlayer displacement angles and damage indexes of composite columns are established. The conclusions can provide reference for the seismic design of SRRC filled circular steel tube composite columns, it fills the vacancy in the research on seismic damage of steel reinforced recycled concrete (SRRC) filled circular steel tube composite columns.

In this study, the analysis was conducted in the aspect of non-hardened concrete of Ternary Mixed Aggregates, and it was determined that flowing and amount of air increased as the mixing combinations of RS increased. However, it is difficult to see the phenomenon only as a result of increasing mixing combinations of RS, and it is thought that the influence of CS and SS also plays a large role. For later analysis, we plan to conduct research on compressive strength and shrinkage according to age, and analyze more suitable mixing combinations.
Low cyclic loading tests are conducted on the steel reinforced recycled concrete (SRRC) column-steel (S) beam composite frame joints. This research aims to evaluate the earthquake damage performance of composite frame joints by performing cyclic loading tests on eight specimens. The experimental failure process and failure modes, load-displacement hysteresis curves, characteristic loads and displacements, and ductility of the composite frame joints are presented and analyzed, which shows that the composite frame joints demonstrate good seismic performance. On the basis of this finding, seismic damage performance is examined by using the maximum displacement, energy absorbed in the hysteresis loops and Park-Ang model. However, the result of this analysis is inconsistent with the test failure process. Therefore, this paper proposes a modified Park-Ang seismic damage model that is based on maximum deformation and cumulative energy dissipation, and corrected by combination coefficient ${\alpha}$. Meanwhile, the effects of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) replacement percentage and axial compression ratio on the seismic damage performance are analyzed comprehensively. Moreover, lateral displacement angle is used as the quantification index of the seismic performance level of joints. Considering the experimental study, the seismic performance level of composite frame joints is divided into five classes of normal use, temporary use, repair after use, life safety and collapse prevention. On this basis, the corresponding relationships among seismic damage degrees, seismic performance level and quantitative index are also established in this paper. The conclusions can provide a reference for the seismic performance design of composite frame joints.
The purpose of this study is to present data for the reusing, rehabilitation and estimation of safety of RC structure damaged by fire, and for the prevention of explosive spatting by investigation the properties of explosive spalling, compressive strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity according to kinds of fine aggregate, admixture and water-cement ratios. In explosive spalling properties with kinds of aggregate, explosive spalling does not appear or little at surface in the case of used sea sand, but the case of using recycled sand or crushed sand is worse and worse. Property with the kind of admixture does not appear specially. And high strength concrete with W/C 30.5% was taken spalling, but 55% does not appear. It is found that residual compressive strength after exposed at high temperature showed 45% in W/C 55%, and 64% in W/C 30.5% of its original strength averagely. Ultrasonic pulse velocity is different with kinds of aggregate. W/C. and heating time. When 3 month age after heating ultrasonic pulse velocity is recovered abut 1.3%~8.4% of its 1 month age after heating.
