  • In this paper, we examined the problem of the structural stability according to the patch load of a rectangular plate that reflects the material properties of A6082-T6 is used primarily for marine plant structure. it applied to the four patch loading shapes, the effect of aspect ratio, a boundary condition and calculated the critical elastic buckling load. Calculating the critical elastic buckling load, During the eigenvalue buckling analysis it is applied to the shell181 as 4 node shell element. when the plate subjected to patch loading compare to the plate under a uniform axial compression load, it is possible observed to occur the different elastic buckling behaviour and it could be confirmed that it is affected significantly on a variable position and type of loadings, such as the effect of the aspect ratio. Also, Critical elastic buckling load according to th patch loading type in simply supported rectangular plate a/b=1.0, ${\gamma}b$=200mm are calculated 67%(Loading type I), 119 %(Loading type II), 76 %(Loading type III), 160 %(Loading type IV), respectively. Loading type I and III could be determined with the strong elastic buckling behavior much more than Loading type II and IV.

  • Effect of dietary inclusion of microalgae, diatom-dominant, oil extracts (MOE) on growth, body composition and shell color of juvenile abalone Haliotis discus was investigated. One thousand four hundred and seventy juvenile abalone were distributed into 21 plastic rectangular containers. Seven experimental diets were prepared: MOE0, MOE0.01, MOE0.05, MOE0.1, MOE0.5, MOE1 and MOE2 diets containing MOE at the concentrations of 0, 0.01, 0.05, 0.1, 0.5, 1 and 2% at the expense of mixture of squid liver and soybean oils, respectively. The experimental diets were fed to abalone in triplicate once a day with a little leftover for 16 weeks. Weight gain and specific growth rate of abalone fed the MOE1 and MOE2 diets were higher than those of abalone fed the all other diets. The shell length and soft body weight of abalone fed the MOE2 diet were longer and heavier than those of abalone fed the all other diets. Crude protein and ash content of the soft body of abalone were affected by dietary inclusion of MOE. The shell color of abalone fed the all experimental diets was different from that of wild abalone. In conclusion, dietary inclusion of MOE improved growth of abalone, but did not shell color of abalone.

  • Only horizontal seismic waves are often applied as designed load to a rectangular rigid frame because the influence of vertical seismic waves is considered small so as to be able to ignore it. But, as for the seismic responses of shell and spatial structures, the responses in the vortical direction is significantly amplified and the vertical responses are amplified even if they are subjected to the horizontal seismic wave only. And also, the horizontal and vertical seismic responses of shell and spatial structures are amplified by vortical seismic waves. An arch has been often used as the main structure component of the large spatial structures and is the mostly simple structure with the seismic response characteristics of the spatial structures. In this paper, for arches as a simple example of the shell and spatial structures, the dynamic characteristics, when the structures are subjected to the horizontal and vertical seismic wave at the same time, are studied, and the horizontal and vertical static seismic force, which have simple forms but hold the response characteristics of arches, are proposed.

  • The vibration characteristics of composite stiffened laminated plates with stiffener is presented using the assumed natural strain 9-node shell element. To compare with previous research, the stiffened plates are composed of carbon-epoxy composite laminate with a symmetric stacking sequence. Also, the result of the present shell model for the stiffener made of composite material is compared with that of the beam model. In the case of torsionally weak stiffener, a local buckling occurs in the stiffener. In this case, the stiffener should be idealized by using the shell elements. The current investigation concentrates upon the vibration analysis of rectangular stiffened and unstiffened composite plates when subjected to the in-plane compression and shear loads. The in-plane compression affect the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the stiffened laminated composite plates and the increase in magnitude of the in-plane compressive load reduces the natural frequencies, which will become zero when the in-plane load is equal to the critical buckling load of the plate. The natural frequencies of composite stiffened plates with shear loads exhibit the higher values than the case of without shear loads. Also, the intersection, between the curves of frequencies against in-plane loads, interchanges the sequence of some of the mode shapes as a result of the increase in the inplane compressive load. The results are compared with those available in the literature and this result shows that the present shell model for the stiffened plate gives more accurate results. Therefore, the magnitude, direction type of the in-plane shear and compressive loads in laminated composite stiffened plates should be selected properly to control the specific frequency and mode shape. The Lanczos method is employed to solve the eigenvalue problems.

  • Thin-walled multicell box girders subjected to an eccentric load can be produced the three global behaviors of flexure, torsion, and distortion. But it is very difficult to evaluate each influences of major behaviors numerically. If we can decompose an eccentric load P into flexural, torsional, and distortional forces, we can execute quantitative analysis each influences of major behaviors. Decomposition of Applied Load for Thin-walled Rectangular multi-cell box girders is researched by Park, Nam-Hoi(Development of a multicell Box Beam Element Including Distortional Degrees of Freedom, 2003). But researches about thin-walled trapezoidal multi-cell section is insufficient. So, this paper deals with decomposition process and independent analysis method of multi-cell box girders include trapezoidal section.

  • We present a GPS-derived regional ionosphere model, which estimates Total Electron Content (TEC) in rectangular grids on the spherical shell over Korea. The GPS data from nine GPS stations were used. The pseudorange data were phase-leveled by a linear combination of pseudoranges and carrier phases. During a quiet day of solar activity, the regional ionosphere map indicated 30-45 Total Electron Content Unit (TECU) at the peak of the diurnal variation. In comparison with the Global Ionosphere Map of the Center for Orbit Determination in Europe, RMS differences were at the level of 4-5 TECU for five days.

  • A method for analysis of the free vibrations of the composite cylindrical shell with a longitudinal, interior rectangular plate is developed by using the receptance method. This method is based on the ratio of a deflection(or slope) response to a harmonic force(or moment) at an joint point. The natural frequencies of the combined shells calculated numerically. The results are compared with the experiment and a finite, element analysis results in order to validate the formulation. The effects of the location and thickness of the plate on the frequencies are also investigated.

  • In shipbuilding, hull assemblies are manufactured by welding. The thermal deformation caused by the welding produces shape deformation. Counter-deformed design methods have been used in shipyards to cope with the weld-induced deformation of ship assembles. Finite element methods (FEMs) are frequently used to estimate welding distortion in the counter-deformed design. For the estimation of welding distortion, producing uniform rectangular elements is required to enter thermal loads on the welding line and obtain accurate analysis results. In this paper, a new automatic mesh generation method is proposed for prediction of welding deformation in FEM. Meshes are constructed for test cases to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed mesh generation method.

  • The theoretical method is developed to investigate the effects of ring stiffeners on free vibration characteristics and transient response for the ring stiffened composite cylindrical shells subjected to the impulse pressure loading. In the theoretical procedure, the Love's thin shell theory combined with the discrete stiffener theory to consider the ring stiffening effect is adopted to formulate the theoretical model. The concentric or eccentric ring stiffeners are laminated with composite and have the uniform rectangular cross section. The modal analysis technique is used to develop the analytical solutions of the transient problem. The analysis is based on an expansion of the loads, displacements in the double Fourier series that satisfy the boundary conditions. The effect of stiffener's eccentricity, number, size, and position on transient response of the shells is examined. The theoretical results are verified by comparison with FEM results.

  • This paper describes $R_p,\;R_d,\;R_c,\;R_{cp},\;R_{cd}$ for design and manufacture of die by comparing the results. Results of this study could be reduced from three processes to two processes and drawing can be conducted using one die set by modifying structure of the punch head and die plate. Oil canning phenomenon can be prevented when circle blanking or ellipse blanking in blanking drawing. $R_c$, the important factor of drawing process was able to evaluate properly in designing of product.
