The dorsalis pedis artery (DPA) was renamed from the anterior tibialis artery after it passed under the extensor retinaculum, and DPA travels between the extensor hallucis longus and extensor digitorum longus muscle along the dorsum of the foot. After giving off the proximal and distal tarsal, arcuate and medial tarsal branches, DPA enters the proximal first intermetatarsal space via the first dorsal metatarsal artery (FDMA), which courses over the first dorsal interosseous muscle (FDIM). For detailed knowledge of the neurovascular anatomy of a dorsalis pedis artery flap (DPAF) as a routine reconstructive procedure after the resection of oral malignant tumors, the precise neurovascular anatomy of DPAF must be studied along the DPA courses as above. In this first review article in the Korean language, the anatomical basis of DPAF is summarized and discussed after a delicate investigation of more than 35 recent articles and atlas textbooks. Many advantages of DPAF, such as a consistent flap vascular anatomy, acceptable donor site morbidity, and the ability to perform simultaneous flap harvest using oral cancer ablation procedures, and additional important risks with the pitfalls of DPAF were emphasized. This article will be helpful, particularly for young doctors during the special curriculum periods for the Korean National Board of Specialists in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, otolaryngology, orthopedic surgery, etc.
The purpose of this study is to provide implications for improvement of mathematics textbook based on discursive approach to textbook analysis that complementarily combines a communicational approach to cognition and social semiotics. For this purpose, we reconstructed an analytic framework for discursive approach to written discourses of Korean textbook and CMP, and applied it to our analysis. Results show that several characteristics in meanings were developed by the use of words and visual mediators. First, in the case of ideational meaning, there were qualitative and quantitative differences between vocabularies used and between information addressed by visual mediators. Second, in the case of structural meaning, an offer and application of procedure was emphasized in a Korean textbook, whereas expectation and selection experiences of diverse possibilities for problem solving was underlined in CMP. In the case interpersonal meaning of student-author, imperative instructions were paid attentions in a Korean textbook. In contrast, students' interdependence and active participation were stressed in CMP. Therefore, this study addressed ideas about how to analyze mathematics textbooks based on integrated meanings developed by the use of words and visual mediators. In addition, it distributes implications for improvements of Korean mathematics textbooks through the analytic framework of both mathematical meanings and interpersonal meanings of student-author.

The purpose of this study was to investigate teachers' recognition on field practice and effectiveness of creativity and character education. This study used post tests to examine the effects of teacher training for creativity and character education on 451 teachers. The results were as follows. Firstly, the average in satisfaction of teacher training for creativity and character education was 4.65 for elementary teachers and 4.35 for secondary teachers in summer, and 4.55 for elementary teachers and 4.42 for secondary teachers in winter. Secondly, effectiveness of teacher training on creativity and character education was showed highly as more than 4.0 and was higher in winter than in summer. Thirdly, in the case of field practice and effectiveness of teacher training for creativity and character education, the average of elementary teachers(3,66) was higher in respect of educational environment than that of secondary teachers(3.20) and the averages of elementary teachers and secondary teachers were 3.85 and 3.42 in respect of subject activity, respectively. In practising creativity and character education, it was analyzed that both elementary(ave. 3.89) and secondary(ave. 3.84) teachers went through some difficulties for curriculum reconstruction, development of instructional model, program development, and human and physical supports.
In this research, we reconstructed the textbook on the concept of rate and ratio, which is based on the review on the previous researches and the analysis on the elementary textbook of the 7th mathematics curriculum. We conducted the teaching experiment using the reconstructed textbook, which is to identify the students' conception of rate and ratio and the appropriateness and limit of the reconstructed textbook. As the results of this study, we identify that the changed sequence of instruction (that is, ratio ${\rightarrow}$ percent and value of rate ${\rightarrow}$ rate) was very proper to help students understand the concept of rate and ratio. The relative comparison and absolute comparison and the additive thinking and multiplicative thinking included in the reconstructed textbook were identified very helpful to students' understanding. Meanwhile some contexts given in the reconstructed textbook were identified to cause the students' cognitive confusions.

In this study, the contents of 'electric current' and 'battery' units in elementary and middle school science textbooks were analyzed on the basis of particle and energy concepts. Many problems, reported previously on students' misconceptions about those area, were found in science textbooks. Electric current and battery were covered in both physics and chemistry parts of science textbooks. However, the lack of particle concept in physics units and the lack of energy concept in chemistry units seemed to make it difficult for students to learn those concepts. The descriptions about the two concepts were also not consistent even in the same discipline units. In order to solve these problems, the integration of the views on the particulate nature of matter and energy in the science curriculum and reconstruction of science textbooks were needed.

Mathematical learning via projects, which enables the reconstruction of curriculum through integration and emphasizes the process of solving problems by posing questions, has attracted the attention of the department of mathematics. This research is aimed at exploring the link between mathematics and project learning by analyzing an example of student-oriented project 'the secrets of pyramid' focused on understanding 'triangle' specifically designed for forth graders. From 115-hour process of subject-oriented project, this study reinterpreted the mathematical meaning of only 24 hours directly related to mathematics, especially to figure exploration. Consequently, this problem solving involved a variety of geometric activities as a process, such as measuring an angle, constructing a triangle, etc. Thus students attempt to actively participate in the process, thereby allowing them to learn how to measure things more accurately. Moreover, project learning improved students' understanding on not only plane figures but solid figures. This indicates that by project learning, learning from given problems or contents can be extended to other mathematical areas.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the pre-service teachers' perception for education paradigm and teacher's teaching competency in the fourth industrial revolution era. For this study 53 pre-service teachers participated in the discussion instruction during one semester. The study result was to analyze the discussion reports of pre-service students using the grounded theory approach. As a result, the pre-service students responded that the school needs to change the learner-centered education and assessment method in the fourth industrial revolution era. Secondly, the result of the teachers' teaching competencies was the integrated curriculum reconstruction, information processing, empathy and understanding, creative teaching and instructional design, collaboration and communication. This study is expected to contribute to the change of education paradigm for pre-service teachers in the fourth industrial revolution era.
The purpose of this study is to identify the difficulties that elementary school teachers face and the atmosphere of school fields in depth in the course of conducting science experiential learning. For this study, we conducted focus group interviews with five elementary school teachers who have had rich experiences in science field studies. Through interviews, the actual state of experiential learning operation, the operation of science experiential learning including planning, progress and evaluation of experiential learning operation. The main results of this study are as follows: Teachers were most concerned about budget, and were burdened with curriculum reconstruction for science experiential learning. In addition, teachers expressed their lack of expert scientific knowledge with science experiential learning, and difficulties with collaboration with science-specialized teachers. In sum, teachers consider budget, site, and administrative convenience first, rather than effects of science experiential learning. The significance of this study is identifying the selection of topics, methods, educational expectations, and problems of science experiential learning topics, which were difficult to identify in previous studies.

The purpose of this study is to explore ways to change high school earth science elective courses with the introduction of the high school credit system in 2025, and ways to restructure them in preparation for the next curriculum revision. For this purpose, Delphi surveys with earth science education experts, a survey with in-service earth science teachers, and in-depth interviews with experts were conducted. According to the results, we need to consider four keywords such as cultivation of earth science literacy, connection with student career paths, emphasis on the fun of earth science itself, and student selection rate and college entrance exam in restructuring Earth science electives. Based on this direction, we composed four subjects: Earth System Science emphasizing earth science literacy, and three such subjects reinforcing career connection as Solid Earth Science, Atmospheric and Ocean Science, and Space Science. To resolve concerns about falling selection rate of earth science courses with the introduction of the high school credit system, it is necessary to re-establish the status of the earth science subjects including enhancing the career connection of the earth science electives. Follow-up studies are necessary to elaborate and publicize the titles and core concepts of Earth science electives.

The purpose of this study is to find out the influence of reflective thinking facilitation program on reflection areas and its levels that pre-service science teachers present in the class teaching practice during the student-teaching period. Seven pre-service science teachers participated in this study and only four pre-service science teachers among them were additionally trained with the reflective program. Reflections of pre-service science teachers were mostly shown on class management, including attention and motivation, reflection and improvement for teaching activities, and interactions. However, the understanding of the science curricula and their reconstruction, and advance notice about the next class were not mentioned in their reflections. Pre-service science teachers who participated in the additional reflective program have shown more frequent reflections than those who only participated in the traditional student-teaching program. Pre-service science teachers, not trained with the reflective program, mostly showed descriptive reflection. However, those who participated in the reflective program have shown higher levels of reflections such as dialogic as well as the descriptive reflection. Therefore, pre-education program, reflective journal-writings, and science teachers' assessments on class and their feedback seem to improve the frequency and level of reflection for the pre-service science teachers.
