An important problem in low-dose CT is the image quality degradation caused by photon starvation. There are a lot of algorithms in sinogram domain or image domain to solve this problem. In view of strong self-similarity contained in the special sinusoid-like strip data in the sinogram space, we propose a novel non-local filtering, whose average weights are related to both the image FBP (filtered backprojection) reconstructed from restored sinogram data and the image directly FBP reconstructed from noisy sinogram data. In the process of sinogram restoration, we apply a non-local method with smoothness parameters adjusted adaptively to the variance of noisy sinogram data, which makes the method much effective for noise reduction in sinogram domain. Simulation experiments show that our proposed method by filtering in both image and projection domains has a better performance in noise reduction and details preservation in reconstructed images.
For the exact assessment and diagnosis of stuttering, not only speech disfluency but also the attitude of stuttering has to be considered. However, clinical researches and studies about stuttering have tend to center around disfluency. Relatively little attention was paid to the communication attitude of stuttering. In this paper, we will attempt to investigate that the Modified Erickson Scale of Communication Attitudes(S-24) is available in Korean stutterer. The S-24 was administrated to 27 adults with stuttering and 27 normal adults. Based on the item analysis of S-24, 4 items which have the low item discrimination coefficient and are little difference between stutterer group and normal group were excepted from the scale. To test validity of the reconstructed communication attitude scale, we estimated a internal consistency and carried out correlation analyses and discrimination analyses. We found that the reconstructed scale had a high internal consistency(a = .8701), was consisted six components(explanatory power = 66.59% of total variation), correlated with the PSI at .439 and with the SESAS at -.527, and correctly classified between stutterers and normal adults at 92.6%. Consequently, the reconstructed communication attitude scale is a useful scale to assess stutterer's communication attitude in Korea.
A digital micro-mirror device (DMD) has the potential to modulate an incident wave with high speed, and the application for holographic display has been studied by many researchers. However, the quality of reconstructed image isn't good in comparison with that from a gray-scale amplitude-only hologram since it is a binary amplitude-only spatial light modulator (SLM). In this paper, we suggest a method generating a set of binary holograms to improve the quality of the reconstructed image. Here, we are concerned with the case for which the object plane is positioned at the Fourier domain of the plane of the SLM. In this case, any point in the Fourier plane is related to all points in the hologram. So there is a chance to generate a set of binary holograms illuminated by incident wave with constant optical power. Moreover, we find an interesting fact that the quality of reconstructed image is improved when the spatial frequency bandwidth of the binary hologram is limited. Therefore, we propose an iterative segmentation algorithm generating a set of binary holograms that are designed to be illuminated by the wave with constant optical power. The feasibility of our method is experimentally confirmed with a DMD.
The diffraction efficiencies of gratings are affected by the inner structure which is determined by modulation type. CGH (Computer generated Hologram) basically uses the principles of a diffraction grating. As like as the diffraction gratings the patterns recorded in the CGH are different according to modulation methods which result in the performances of the reconstructed images. In this paper, on this fact CGHs are recorded according to sinusoidal and rectangular modulation methods and the characteristics of reconstructed images are analyzed. Also the reconstruction performances of the amplitude and phase, phase-only and binary phase CGH are analyzed.
We propose a split-encryption scheme on converting original images to multiple ciphertexts. This conversion introduces one random phase-only function (POF) to influence phase distribution of the preliminary ciphertexts. In the encryption process, the original image is mathematically split into two POFs. Then, they are modulated on a spatial light modulator one after another. And subsequently two final ciphertexts are generated by utilizing two-step phase-shifting interferometry. In the decryption process, a high-quality reconstructed image with relative error $RE=7.6061{\times}10^{-31}$ can be achieved only when the summation of the two ciphertexts is Fresnel-transformed to the reconstructed plane. During the verification process, any silhouette information was invisible in the two reconstructed images from different single ciphertexts. Both of the two single REs are more than 0.6, which is better than in previous research. Moreover, this proposed scheme works well with gray images.

This paper presents a compression algorithm applicable for transmitting a HPO hologram data. The proposed algorithm exploits a modulating function to compress the bandwidth of the hologram pattern, resulting in decimation due to relaxed Nyquist sampling constraints. At the receiver, the compressed data will be interpolated and compensated via being divided by the modulating function. We also present compression rate and analyze the resolution of a reconstructed image and the periodicity of harmonic interferences. Finally, we shows the validity of the proposed algorithm by simulation where a reconstructed image from undersampled data is compared with a reconstructed image obtained through decimatioin by modulating function, interpolation and compensation.

In this paper, we propose accurate lattice extraction of elemental image array and pre-processing methods in computational integral imaging. Pre-processing methods remove distortions and noises of the image. Such distortions occurred in pickup systems are rotational errors. Distortions will degrade the resolution of reconstructed images. To overcome this problem, we propose our methods for extraction of elemental image array and pre-processing methods. Also, we describe that distortions affect the high quality reconstruction. Optical and computational experiments indicate that reconstructed images applied our methods is better than reconstructed images unapplied our methods.

This paper presents the hierarchical block matching algorithm using the 4 subbands of the wavelet transformation and the thresholding method. The proposed algorithm improves the PSNR performance of the reconstructed image using the 4 subbands of the wavelet transformation and reduces the computational complexity by thresholding the motion vector. The experimental results of the proposed algorithm for 'Carphone' image and 'Mother and Daughter' image show that if the thresholding value is 0, the computational complexity is increasing up to 16% and the PSNR performance of the reconstructed image improves the 0.16dB in comparison with that of the existing. hierarchical motion estimation algorithm. In addition, as the thresholding value is increasing, the computational complexity reduces up to 8% and the PSNR performance of the reconstructed image is similar.
Accurate estimation of spatial frequencies and phases for illumination patterns are essential to reconstructing super-resolution images in structured illumination microscopy (SIM). In this manuscript, we propose the improved component cross-correlation (ICC) algorithm, which is based on optimization of the cross-correlation values of the overlapping information between various spectral components. Compared to other algorithms for spatial-frequency and phase determination, the results calculated by the ICC algorithm are more accurate when the modulation depths of the illumination patterns are low. Moreover, the ICC algorithm is able to calculate the spatial frequencies and phases simultaneously. Simulation results indicate that even if the modulation depth is lower than 0.1, the ICC algorithm still estimates the parameters precisely; the images reconstructed by the ICC algorithm are much clearer than those reconstructed by other algorithms. In experiments, our home-built SIM system was used to image bovine pulmonary artery endothelial (BPAE) cells. Drawing support from the ICC algorithm, super-resolution images were reconstructed without artifacts.

In this paper, we propose a new free-view three-dimensional (3D) computational reconstruction of integral imaging to improve the visual quality of reconstructed 3D images when low-resolution elemental images are used. In a conventional free-view reconstruction, the visual quality of the reconstructed 3D images is insufficient to provide 3D information to applications because of the shift and sum process. In addition, its processing speed is slow. To solve these problems, our proposed method uses a pixel rearrangement technique (PERT) with locally selective elemental images. In general, PERT can reconstruct 3D images with a high visual quality at a fast processing speed. However, PERT cannot provide a free-view reconstruction. Therefore, using our proposed method, free-view reconstructed 3D images with high visual qualities can be generated when low-resolution elemental images are used. To show the feasibility of our proposed method, we applied it to optical experiments.
