Analysis of Heat Loss with Mirror Array and Receiver Shapes on the Dish Solar Collector (반사경 배치 및 흡수기 형상에 따른 접시형 태양열 집열기의 열손실 해석)

  • The radiative heat loss from a receiver of a dish solar collector is numerically investigated. The dish solar collector considered in this paper consists of a receiver and multi-faceted mirrors. In order to investigate the performance comparison of dish solar collectors, six different mirror arrays and four different receivers are considered. A parabolic- shaped perfect mirror of which diameter is 1.40 m is considered as the reference for the mirror arrays. The other mirror arrays which consist of twelve identical parabolic-shaped mirror facets of which diameter are 0.405 m are suggested for comparison. Their reflecting areas, which are 1.545 $m^{2}$, are the same. Four different receiver shapes are a conical, a dome, a cylindrical, and a unicorn type. The radiative properties of the mirror surfaces and the receiver surfaces may vary the thermal performance of the dish solar collector so that various surface properties are considered. In order to calculate the radiative heat loss in the receiver, two kinds of methods are used. The Net Radiation Method that is based on the radiation heat balance on the surface is used to calculate the radiation heat transfer rate from the inside surface of the receiver to the environment. The Monte-Carlo Method that is the statistical approach is adopted to predict the radiation heat transfer rate from the reflector to the receiver. The collector efficiency is defined as the results of the optical efficiency and the receiver efficiency. Based on the calculation, the unicorn type has the best performance in receiver shapes and the STAR has the best performance in mirror arrays except the perfect mirror.

  • This study focus on verification of the thermal efficiency of volumetric receiver with $5kW_{th}$ Dish-type solar thermal system. Spiral flow path shaped on receiver and working fluid(steam) flow along the this flow path. Porous material for radiation-thermal conversion used in former researches are substituted with the stainless steel wall installed along the spiral shaped flow path. Numerical analysis for the flow path and temperature distributions are carried out. Numerical results are compared with experimental data. Using the numerical model, the heat transfer characteristics of spiral type receiver for dish-type solar thermal systems are known and the thermal performance of the receiver can be estimated.

  • Recently, in a variety of the application fields, it is interested in GPS receiver as the use of GPS(Global Positioning System) is increased. In this paer, we propose that a type of new receiver of a simple structure as GPS data receiver. This proposed receiver consists of RF stage, local C/A(Coarse/Acquisition) code generator, C/A code correlator, data demodulator and microprocessor controller as a GPS single channel data receiver using the L1 carrier . It is confirmed that the proposed receiver operates well as GPS raw data receiver through experiment.

  • We designed the Intermediate Frequency(IF) distributor for multi beam backend system and manufactured Voltage to Frequency Converter(VFC) to measure the multi-beam receiver performance. Multi beam receiver has 15 channel receivers and can get 15 spectrums at once. The multi beam receiver has more observation efficiency than single beam receiver. We manufactured the 15 IF distributors to distribute IF signal for Autocorrelation spectrometer that is radio signal processor. Also, we manufactured the VF Converter to test the performance measurement of receiver for Korea VLBI Network(KVN) system which is under-construct in Seoul, Ulsan and Jeju. As a result of performance measurement, we could obtain linearity of 99.4% on the input power vs output frequency and measured the operating range of input frequency.

  • In this paper, adaptive multi-stage parallel interference cancellation (PIC) receiver is considered for a multi-rate DS-CDMA system. In each stage of the adaptive multi-stage PIC receiver, multiple access interference (MAI) estimates are obtained using the sub-bit estimates from the Previous stage and the adaptive weights for the sub-bit estimates. The adaptive weights are obtained by minimizing the mean squared error between the received signal and its estimate through a least mean square (LMS) algorithm. It is shown that the adaptive multi- stage PIC receiver achieves smaller BER than the matched filter receiver, multi-stage PIC receiver, and multi-stage partial PIC receiver for the multi-rate DS-CDMA system in a Rayleigh fading channel.

  • A fully integrated inductorless CMOS impulse radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) receiver is implemented using $0.18\;{\mu}m$ CMOS technology for 3-5 GHz application. The UWB receiver adopts the non-coherent architecture, which removes the complexity of RF architecture and reduces power consumption. The receiver consists of inductorless differential three stage LNA, envelope detector, variable gain amplifier (VGA), and comparator. The measured sensitivity is -70 dBm in the condition of 5 Mbps and BER of $10^{-3}$. The receiver chip size is only $1.8\;mm\;{\times}\;0.9\;mm$. The consumed current is 15 mA with 1.8 V supply.

  • An engineer prefers DIFM receiver which is superior to instantaneous response rather than superheterodyne receiver which has a scan rate in normal wide band receiver designing. But DIFM receiver has weak point in sensitivity and continuous wave signal because of special environments. In this paper we propose the method which is certificated through simulation and prototype testing to improve sensitivity of DIFM receiver. And we analyze the important factors of DIFM receiver from our results.

  • Direct-conversion receiver(DCR) architecture has superior advantages in size, cost, and power over superheterodyne receiver architectures. However, the use of direct-conversion receiver architecture has been limited due to the direct-current offset noise. The ac coupling, which is used to overcome the direct-current offset noise, causes an inter-symbol interference(ISI), whose effects can be effectively mitigated using an equalizer. In this paper, the performance of a direct-conversion receiver with ac coupling in the presence of direct-current offset is analyzed via computer simulation. The simulation result shows that by using decision feedback equalizer with LMS(Least Mean Square) algorithm, signal-to-noise ratio loss of the direct-conversion receiver compared to the idea receiver can be reduced to less than 1㏈ for corner frequencies as large as 10% of the symbol rate.

  • In the mobile communication using DS-CDMA systems the problem of multiple user interference which reduce the performance is generated by multiple user access. In this paper to solve this problem we proposed the direct decision blind adaptive receiver with knowledge of only the desired user's spreading sequence. Simulation result present that the total user's power has equal gain The gain of signal to interference ratio for the proposed blind DD-LMS receiver has about 6[dB] than conventional receiver at additive white Gaussian noise and large gain at multipath channels. And when interference user's power has more large gain than desired user's power the gain of SIR for the proposed receiver has large value. And simulation result of bit error rate present that DD-LMS receiver has higher performance than LCCMA receiver. Thus the proposed blind DD-LMS receiver has robustness against interference of high power user and multipath channels.

  • This paper presents the GPS receiver's inherent interference effectiveness based on the receiver's internal processing gain. This research is to verify the weakness of the GPS satellite signals and evaluate the receiver's vulnerability in an interference situation. The experiment for the narrow band interference effectiveness for the L1 C/A code GPS receiver has been performed by using the Spirent GSS4765 jamming simulator. After analyzing the experimental result, it is compared with the calculated J/S value of the two different L1 C/A code GPS receivers. By the above result, the narrowband jamming effectiveness of the each jamming source and the jamming margin for the each receiver are to be analyzed in detail. Finally, we could utilize the result to analyze the jamming effectiveness on the GNSS receiver.
