The establishment of a production pipeline imported 30 computer graphics is suggested in this paper to improve the efficiency of existing production pipeline of clay animation. The point is that the process of building clay characters that remains labor intensive among the existing procedures is replaced by the process of creating computer generated characters. In order to create characters out of clay by means of 30 computer graphics, a diffuse map and displacement map are made of an oil-based clay according to the UVW coordination of polygon modeling, which is the same color and kind of clay used to make a clay character. In addition, a panoramic HDRI recording system is developed to record the lighting information of shooting environment for miniature sets, which is imported in 3D computer graphic tools as digital light source. On account of the new production pipeline, a hyper realistic rendering image can be produced, and at the same time it improves the traditional pipeline of stop motion animation that is know-how based procedure of a complete artist by the engineering approach to the automatic process.
The virtual reality consists of a virtual space constructed similar to the reality and agents residing in it. Our virtual space refers to an orderly space that is governed by such physical properties as mass, gravity, friction, and associated rules on top of the usual visual rendering. To construct this virtual world we are to develop virtual agents behaving like humans and the environment surrounding them. In order to improve the existing reactive agents designed to act to their designers' dictation in predetermined space or memory into autonomous agents, we need diverse kinds of knowledge among others related to the spaces for the agents to act in. Our design and implementation focuses on the spatial knowledge among those diverse aspects of knowledge required. The developed knowledge representation scheme is used on a basis for realistic and efficient physical cyber-environment, and as the knowledge structure to simulate the virtual agents' knowledges on spaces.
In this study, a tree growth model is designed to represent a variety of trees consisting of a outdoor terrain of game efficiently and naturally. The proposed tree growth model is an integrated tree growth model, and is configured using the following approaches: (1) the tree modeling method based on growth volume and the convolution sums of divisor functions, which is used to model a variety kind of trees more intuitively and naturally; (2) a rendering method using a level of detail of branch based on instancing for real-time processing of numerous trees with complicated structures; and (3) a combination of the above methods to efficiently implement a game landscape. The natural and diverse growths of trees that emerged using the proposed tree growth model is evaluated through experimentation, along with the possibility of implementing the natural game landscape and the efficiency of real-time processing.
The series of ‘Dubonnet’poster is one of the masterpieces of Cassandre who was the leader of advertising poster in 1920's and 1930's. Orihinally it was a triptych, but it was developed as a serial work later through lettering and seasonal advertising posters. It was kept in circulation for more than two decades and issued in a variety of formats. In this thesis I tried to figure out the artistic character and uniqueness of Cassandre's poster by analyzing it with many different points of view of the poster, the stream of changing style and influence from the Avant-garde painting. In chapterII, objectively analyzing the series of‘Dubonnet’one by one, I examined the method that Cassandre used to deliver the concept of advertising and his message. The triptych, the first one of series of Dubonnet poster is witty, the slogan is a pun using the words dubo(doubt), bon(good), and Dubonnet, and the theme is treated as an animated sequence in the manner of a comic strip. In the following winter and summer seasonal advertising posters, the‘Dubonnet man’in the same position is enjoying the‘Dubonnet’, irrespective of the hazards of climate and season, There was a change towards 1929 that rectilinear design gave place to supple and undulating lines in Cassandre's posters. Seasonal advertising posters also showed the change, and the tendency of realistic and concrete elements of an expression was strengthened. In chapterIII, I studied three as main characters of Cassandre's poster. The first one is simple and geometric expression, second one is uniqueness of figures and the last one is important roll of lettering. Cassandre believed that there were fundamental differences between the function of a poster and that of a painting. He also recognized that the symbol was the essential element in the poster design, which would be simply and swiftly recognized. The recognition led him to simple design and bold geometric abstraction. He was a man who knew the value of copy in advertising and developed it fully in his simplified geometric compositions by integrating of letterforms and image. The‘Dubonnet man’is geometrized, almost featureless. This approach of rendering human beings was one that Cassandre had used from the early years, most notably in his posters for Dubonnet.
Currently commercially available light field cameras are difficult to acquire 5D light field video since it can only acquire the still images or high price of the device. In order to solve these problems, we propose a deep learning based method for synthesizing the light field video from monocular video. To solve the problem of obtaining the light field video training data, we use UnrealCV to acquire synthetic light field data by realistic rendering of 3D graphic scene and use it for training. The proposed deep running framework synthesizes the light field video with each sub-aperture image (SAI) of $9{\times}9$ from the input monocular video. The proposed network consists of a network for predicting the appearance flow from the input image converted to the luminance image, and a network for predicting the optical flow between the adjacent light field video frames obtained from the appearance flow.

In this paper, we propose a person tracking based multi-channel audio panning system for multi-view broadcasting services. Multi-view broadcasting is to render the video sequences that are captured from a set of cameras based on different viewpoints, and multi-channel audio panning techniques are necessary for audio rendering in these services. In order to apply such a realistic audio technique to this multi-view broadcasting service, person tracking techniques which are to estimate the position of users are also necessary. For these reasons, proposed methods are composed of two parts. The first part is a person tracking method by using ultrasonic satellites and receiver. We could obtain user's coordinates of high resolution and short duration about 10 mm and 150 ms. The second part is MPEG Surround parameter-based multi-channel audio panning method. It is a method to obtain panned multi-channel audio by controlling the MPEG Surround spatial parameters. A MUSHRA test is conducted to objectively evaluate the perceptual quality and measure localization performance using a dummy head. From the experiments, it is shown that the proposed method provides better perceptual quality and localization performance than the conventional parameter-based audio panning method. In addition, we implement the prototype of person tracking based multi-view broadcasting system by integrating proposed methods with multi-view display system.
Since 3D face can be rotated freely in 3D space and illumination effects can be modeled properly, 3D face modeling Is more precise and realistic in face pose, illumination, and expression than 2D face modeling. Thus, 3D modeling is necessitated much in face recognition, game, avatar, and etc. In this paper, we propose a 3D face modeling method based on 3D morphable shape modeling. The proposed 3D modeling method first constructs a 3D morphable shape model out of 3D face scan data obtained using a 3D scanner Next, the proposed method extracts and matches feature points of the face from 2D image sequence containing a face to be modeled, and then estimates 3D vertex coordinates of the feature points using a factorization based SfM technique. Then, the proposed method obtains a 3D shape model of the face to be modeled by fitting the 3D vertices to the constructed 3D morphable shape model. Also, the proposed method makes a cylindrical texture map using 2D face image sequence. Finally, the proposed method builds a 3D face model by rendering the 3D face shape model with the cylindrical texture map. Through building processes of 3D face model by the proposed method, it is shown that the proposed method is relatively easy, fast and precise than the previous 3D face model methods.
This paper presents a development of new haptic API (Application Programming Interface) that is called K-$Touch^{TM}$ haptic API. It is designed in order to allow users to interact with objects by kinesthetic and tactile modalities through haptic interfaces. The K-$Touch^{TM}$ API would serve two different types of users: high level programmers who need an easy to use haptic API for creating haptic applications and researchers in the haptic filed who need to experiment or develop with new devices and new algorithms while not wanting to re-write all the required code from scratch. Since the graphic hardware based kinesthetic rendering algorithm implemented in the K-$Touch^{TM}$ API is different from any other conventional kinesthetic algorithms, this API can provide users with haptic interaction for various data representations such as 2D, 2.5D depth(height field), 3D polygon, and volume data. In addition, this API supports kinesthetic and tactile interaction simultaneously in order to allow users with realistic haptic interaction. With a wide range of applicative characteristics, therefore, it is expected that the proposed K-$Touch^{TM}$ haptic API will assists to have deeper recognition of the environments, and enhance a sense of immersion in environments. Moreover, it will be useful development toolkit to investigate new devices and algorithms in the haptic research field.

We present interactive methods for visualizing the cloud height data and the backscatter data collected from ceilometers in the three-dimensional virtual space. Because ceilometer data is high-dimensional, large-size data associated with both spatial and temporal information, it is highly improbable to exhibit the whole aspects of ceilometer data simply with static, two-dimensional images. Based on the three-dimensional rendering technology, our visualization methods allow the user to observe both the global variations and the local features of the three-dimensional representations of ceilometer data from various angles by interactively manipulating the timing and the view as desired. The cloud height data, coupled with the terrain data, is visualized as a realistic cloud animation in which many clouds are formed and dissipated over the terrain. The backscatter data is visualized as a three-dimensional terrain which effectively represents how the amount of backscatter changes according to the time and the altitude. Our system facilitates the multivariate analysis of ceilometer data by enabling the user to select the date to be examined, the level-of-detail of the terrain, and the additional data such as the planetary boundary layer height. We demonstrate the usefulness of our methods through various experiments with real ceilometer data collected from 93 sites scattered over the country.
There are many difficulties to develop a mobile contents due to many constraints on mobile environments. It is difficult to make a good mobile contents with only visual reduction of existing contents on wire Internet. Therefore, it is essential to devise the data representation and to develop the authoring tool to meet the needs of the mobile contents market. We suggest the compact mobile contents to learn Chinese characters and developed its authoring tool. The animation which our system produces is realistic as if someone writes letters with pen or brush. Moreover, our authoring tool makes a user generate a Chinese character animation easily and rapidly although she or he has not many knowledge in computer graphics, mobile programming or Chinese characters. The method to generate the stroke animation is following: We take basic character shape information represented with several contours from TTF(TrueType Font) and get the information for the stroke segmentation and stroke ordering from simple user input. And then, we decompose whole character shape into some strokes by using polygonal approximation technique. Next, the stroke animation for each stroke is automatically generated by the scan line algorithm ordered by the stroke direction. Finally, the ordered scan lines are compressed into some integers by reducing coordinate redundancy As a result, the stroke animation of our system is even smaller than GIF animation. Our method can be extended to rendering and animation of Hangul or general 2D shape based on vector graphics. We have the plan to find the method to automate the stroke segmentation and ordering without user input.
