  • High-dimensional survival data with large numbers of predictors has become more common. The analysis of such data can be facilitated if the dimensions of predictors are adequately reduced. Recent studies show that a method called sliced inverse regression (SIR) is an effective dimension reduction tool in high-dimensional survival regression. However, it faces incapability in implementation due to a double categorization procedure. This problem can be overcome in the right-censoring type by transforming the observed survival time and censoring status into a single variable. This provides more flexibility in the categorization, so the applicability of SIR can be enhanced. Numerical studies show that the proposed transforming approach is equally good to (or even better) than the usual SIR application in both balanced and highly-unbalanced censoring status. The real data example also confirms its practical usefulness, so the proposed approach should be an effective and valuable addition to usual statistical practitioners.

  • Although unmanned aerial vehicles have been used to overcome the limited accessibility of human-based visual inspection, unresolved issues still remain. Onsite inspectors face difficulty finding previously detected damage locations and tracking their status onsite. For example, an inspector still marks the damage location on a target structure with chalk or drawings while comparing the current status of existing damages to their previous status, as documented onsite. In this study, an augmented-reality-based structural inspection system with onsite damage information marking was developed to enhance the convenience of inspectors. The developed system detects structural damage, creates a holographic marker with damage information on the actual physical damage, and displays the marker onsite via an augmented reality headset. Because inspectors can view a marker with damage information in real time on the display, they can easily identify where the previous damage has occurred and whether the size of the damage is increasing. The performance of the developed system was validated through a field test, demonstrating that the system can enhance convenience by accelerating the inspector's essential tasks such as detecting damages, measuring their size, manually recording their information, and locating previous damages.

  • Purpose : To shorten processing time for variety of medical affairs of the patient at the outpatient clinic of a big hospital is very important to qualify medical care of the patient. Therefore, patient's waiting time for drug delivery after doctor's prescription is often utilized as a strong tool to evaluate patient satisfaction with a medical care provided. We performed this study to investigate factors influencing patient satisfaction related with waiting time for drug delivery. Methods : The data were collected from July 21 to August 12, 1998. A total 535 patients or their families who visited outpatient clinics of Inha University Hospital were subjected to evaluate the drug delivery time and the level of their satisfaction related, which were compared with those objectively evaluated by Quality Improvement Team. The reliability of the scale was tested with Cronbach's alpha, and the data were analyzed using frequency, t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis and multiple regression. Results : The mean drug delivery time subjectively evaluated by the patient (16.1 13.0 min) was longer than that objectively evaluated (10.9 7.6 min) by 5.2 min. Drug delivery time objectively evaluated was influenced by the prescription contents, total amount or type of drug dispensed, etc, as expected. The time discrepancy between two evaluations was influenced by several causative factors. One of those proved to be a patient's late response to the information from the pharmacy which the drug is ready to deliver. Interestingly, this discrepancy was found to be more prominent especially when waiting place for drug delivery was not less crowded. Other factors, pharmaceutical counseling at the pharmacy, emotional status or behavior of a patient while he waits for the medicine, were also found to influence the time subjectively evaluated. Regarding the degree of patient satisfaction with the drug delivery, majority of patients accepted drug delivery time with less than 10 min. It was also found to be influenced by emotional status of the patient as well as kindness or activity of pharmaceutical counselor. Conclusion : The results show that, besides prescription contents, behavior pattern or emotional status of a patient, environment of the waiting place, and quality of pharmaceutical counseling at the pharmacy, may influence the patient's subjective evaluation of waiting time for drug delivery and his satisfaction related with the service in the big hospital. In order to improve patient satisfaction related with waiting time for drug delivery, it will be cost effective to qualify pharmaceutical counseling and information system at the drug delivery site or waiting place rather than to shorten the real processing time within the pharmacy.

  • Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women worldwide, including Thailand. In the present study, the differential mRNA expression of SVEP1, LPHN3, KLB, ITGA7, SEMA3G, TNS1 and MMP13 genes was examined in breast cancer using quantitative real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (QRT-PCR). Among these genes, increased LPHN3 and MMP13 mRNA expression levels correlated with axillary-node metastasis (P=0.02). Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that LPHN3 and MMP13 mRNA expression is significantly associated with axillary node status in breast cancer (P=0.04).

  • We observed the temperature-dependent evolution and behavior of P3HT type-II phase during a real time annealing process from a cryo-cooled low temperature in the absence and presence of an Al electrode. A poly (3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) Type-II phase in the P3HT:PCBM films started to form near at $-10^{\circ}C$, regardless of Al layer presence. In the absence of an Al layer, type-II phase was extinct at $30^{\circ}C$. However, the extinction temperature was extended to $50^{\circ}C$ in the presence of the Al layer. Simultaneously, combined with the type-II phase, a 1:3 ordered P3HT type-II (1/3,0,0) super-lattice peak evolved. These type-II domains tended to be formed near the Al electrode layer with higher aligned status than host P3HT crystals.

  • In this paper, we introduce a method for automatically generating accompaniment music, according to user's input melody. The initial accompaniment chord is generated by analyzing user's input melody. Then next chords are generated continuously based on markov chain probability table in which transition probabilities of each chord are defined. The probability table is learned according to reinforcement learning mechanism using sample data of existing music. Also during playing accompaniment, the probability table is learned and refined using reward values obtained in each status to improve the behavior of playing the chord in real-time. The similarity between user's input melody and each chord is calculated using pitch class histogram. Using our method, accompaniment chords harmonized with user's melody can be generated automatically in real-time.

  • In this paper, We propose digital protective relay which monitors the status of distribution line and controls power apparatus with real time operation. Digital protective relay improves the performance of basic functions which are measurement, display and communication. The Int one we consider is that the protective device has the standard method for protecting the distribution systems which are circuit brakers, switch and emergency generators. These are Protected by analog type Protective relay and devices. The security requirements should be activated within a few seconds, and with real time operation. The second one is an efficient method for adapting the one chip micro-processor(PIC16F84) which is enable to digital control system. The proposed methods are implemented with experimental results and have an high fidelity characteristics in local experiment tests.

  • As the size of the system and network environment grows and the network structure and the system configuration change frequently, network administrators have difficulty managing the status manually and identifying real-time changes. In this paper, we suggest a system that scans dynamic network information in real time, scores vulnerability of network devices, generates all potential attack paths, and visualizes them using attack graph. We implemented the proposed algorithm based attack graph; and we demonstrated that it can be applicable in MTD concept based defense system by simulating on dynamic virtual network environment with SDN.

  • In this paper, We are proposed the real-time monitor and control mechanism for intelligent robot called URC(Ubiquitous Robotic Companion). URC are intelligent robots designed as to interact with external digital device that can communicate through wire or wireless by integration the network and information technology into traditional robot. In this paper, we implemented the result of this study into the target robot called ISSAC4 and proved its practical worth. We designed it as be able to control on remote by such web browser as anywhere and anytime that show a status information for several controllers, devices, actuators and sensors of robot and guarantee a continuity of real-time image transferring by Client-Pull method and moving control of robot.
