Design and Implementation of Geographical Handoff System Using GPS Information (GPS정보를 이용한 위치기반 핸드오프 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • Recently, users want to use real-time multimedia services, such as internet, VoIP, etc., using their IEEE 802.11 wireless lan mobile stations. In order to provide such services, a handoff among access points is essential to support the mobility of a node, in such an wide area. However, the legacy handoff methods of IEEE 802.11 technology are easy to lose connections. Also, the recognition of a disconnection and channel re-searching time make the major delay of the next AP to connect. In addition, because IEEE 802.11 decides the selection of an AP depending only on received signal strength, regardless of a node direction, position, etc., it cannot guarantee a stable bandwidth for communication. Therefore, in order to provide a real-time multimedia service, a node must reduce the disconnection time and needs an appropriate algorithm to support a sufficient communication bandwidth. In this paper, we suggest an algorithm which predicts a handoff point of a moving node by using GPS location information, and guarantees a high transmission bandwidth according to the signal strength and the distance. We implemented the suggested algorithm, and confirmed the superiority of our algorithm by reducing around 3.7ms of the layer-2 disconnection time, and guaranteed 24.8% of the communication bandwidth.

The propriety of Spatial Arrangement Condition of 119 Emergency Medical Service - Mainly Around H Town Area, Countrysid of Y city - (119지역대의 공간적 배치 현황의 적절성 -Y시 H면 지역을 중심으로-)

  • In this study, we analyzed the situation of the 119 emergency medical service zone of H town, countryside of Y city from January 1st, 2015 to December 31st, 2016 and then, on the basis of this analysis, we investigated the present condition of the patient-transportation service of the 119 emergency medical service to provide the basic data in order for patients to use the emergency medical service more efficiently. We analyzed the data with SPSS 21.0 using frequency analysis and, after positioning the virtual 119 emergency medical service, we analyzed the data of the transportation time and transportation distance by using GIS. The results of this study show that the use of the 119 emergency medical service for people over 65 years old represents approximately 57% of the total number of patients transported, The average distance and time of the real moving reaction are 6.41 km and 11.86 min, respectively. The distance and time from the pick-up location to the hospital are 18.24 km and 21.52 min, respectively. Given the present position of the 119 emergency medical service, the results of this analysis using GPS show that the (average) distance and time from the 119 emergency medical service to Jang * Ri town are 9.12 km and 12 min, and the (average) total distance and time to arrive at the hospital after the emergency medical service picks up the patient are 36.83 km and 62 min, respectively. In the case of the virtual emergency medical service, the total distance and time required to arrive at the hospital after the emergency medical service picks up the patient are 27.71km and 50min, respectively. The results of this study showed that the present position of the 119 emergency service does not provide the optimum distance and time from the patient's location to the hospital. Therefore, we consider that the repositioning of the 119 emergency medical center is necessary, in order to reduce the time required for the emergency medical service to move to the patient's location and then bring the patient to the hospital.

Development of an Incident Detection Algorithm by Using Traffic Flow Pattern (이력패턴데이터를 이용한 돌발상황 감지알고리즘 개발)

  • Research of this paper focused on developing and demonstrating of algorithm with the figures of difference between historical traffic pattern data and real-time traffic data to decide on what the incident is. The aim of this dissertation is to develop incident detection algorithm which can be understood and modified easier to operate. To establish traffic pattern of this algorithm, weighted moving average method was applied. The basis of this method was traffic volume and speed of the same day and time at the same location based on 30-second raw data. The model was completed by a serious of steps of process-screening process of error data, decision of the traffic condition, comparison with pattern data, decision of incident circumstances, continuity test. A variety of parameter value was applied to select reasonable parameter. Results of application of the algorithm came out with figures of average detection rate 94.7 percent, 0.8 percent rate of misinformation and the average detection time 1.6 minutes. With these following results, the detection rate turned out to be superior compared with result of existing model. Applying the concept of traffic patterns was useful to gain excellent results of this study. Also, this study is significant in terms of making algorithm which theorized the decision process of actual operators.

Improving Reliability of Bus Arrival Time Predictions Considering delay Time at Signalized Intersection (신호교차로 지체시간을 고려한 버스도착시간 예측 신뢰성 향상 연구)

  • This study propose a method to predict the bus arrival time by considering the signal delay time which is an element which can not be considered in the current bus arrival prediction information generation algorithm. In order to consider the signal delay time, travel time is divided into three components: service time, cruising travel time, and signal delay time. Signal delay time was estimated using intersection arrival time and TOD. The results show that most of the errors that occurred in predicting the arrival time are within about 30 seconds. Some of the estimates have large errors due to the nature of this methodology that uses the estimated value of the intersection arrival time rather than the observation value. It is also difficult to predict the arrival time of the express buses using this method. Future studies such as improving this through real-time location information will greatly improve the accuracy of the methodology.

  • Augmented reality (AR) is augmented virtual information on the real world with real-time. And user can interact with information. In this paper, Marker-less tracking algorithm has been studied, for implement the augmented reality system on a mobile environment. In marker-less augmented reality, users do not need to attach the markers, and constrained the location. So, it's convenient to use. For marker-less tracking, I use the SURF algorithm based on feature point extraction in this paper. The SURF algorithm can be used on mobile devices because of the computational complexity is low. However, the SURF algorithm optimization work is not suitable for mobile devices. Therefore, in this paper, in order to the suitable tracking in mobile devices, the SURF algorithm was tested in a variety of environments. And ways to optimize has been studied.

  • We propose a method for accurate image acquisition in a machine vision system in the present study. The most important feature is required by the various lenses to implement real and of the same high quality image-forming optical role. The input of the machine vision system, however, is generated due to the aberration of the lens distortion. Transformation defines the relationship between the real-world coordinate system and the image coordinate system to solve these problems, a mapping function that matrix operations by calculating the distance between two coordinates to specify the exact location. Tolerance Focus Lens caused by the lens aberration correction processing to Galvanometer laser precision machining operations can be improved. Aberration of the aspheric lens has a two-dimensional shape of the curve, but the existing lens correction to linear time-consuming calibration methods by examining a large number of points the problem. How to apply the Bilinear interpolation is proposed in order to reduce the machining error that occurs due to the aberration of the lens processing equipment.

  • Computer vision is coming more interesting with new imaging sensors' new capabilities which enable it to understand more its surrounding environment by imitating human vision system with artificial intelligence techniques. In this paper, we made experiments with Kinect camera, a new depth sensor for object detection and distance measurement functions, most essential functions in computer vision such as for unmanned or manned vehicles, robots, drones, etc. Therefore, Kinect camera is used here to estimate the position or the location of objects in its field of view and measure the distance from them to its depth sensor in an accuracy way by checking whether that the detected object is real object or not to reduce processing time ignoring pixels which are not part of real object. Tests showed promising results with such low-cost range sensor, Kinect camera which can be used for object detection and distance measurement which are fundamental functions in computer vision applications for further processing.

Feature-Based Light and Shadow Estimation for Video Compositing and Editing (동영상 합성 및 편집을 위한 특징점 기반 조명 및 그림자 추정)

  • Video-based modeling / rendering developed to produce photo-realistic video contents have been one of the important research topics in computer graphics and computer visions. To smoothly combine original input video clips and 3D graphic models, geometrical information of light sources and cameras used to capture a scene in the real world is essentially required. In this paper, we present a simple technique to estimate the position and orientation of an optimal light source from the topology of objects and the silhouettes of shadows appeared in the original video clips. The technique supports functions to generate well matched shadows as well as to render the inserted models by applying the estimated light sources. Shadows are known as an important visual cue that empirically indicates the relative location of objects in the 3D space. Thus our method can enhance realism in the final composed videos through the proposed shadow generation and rendering algorithms in real-time.

  • The log data collected on a mobile device contain diverse and continuous information about the user. From the log data, the location, pictures, running functions and services of the user can be obtained. It has interested in the research inferring the contexts and understanding the everyday-life of mobile users. In this paper, we have studied the methods for real-time collection of log data from mobile devices, analysis of the data, map based visualization and effective management of the personal everyday-life information. We have developed an application for sharing the contexts. The proposed application infers the personal contexts with Bayesian network probabilistic model. In the experiments, we confirm that the usability of visualization and information sharing functions based on the real world log data.

  • The advent of the handheld camera has dramatically transformed film production and consumption in countless ways. French director and theorist, Alexandre Astruc focuses on the development of 16mm camera and foretell film will be used as a tool to realize the personal vision of the author like other art. As proof of his claim French New Wave and Cinéma vérité create the film with handheld camera on the real location to capture new reality. Their films are distinguished itself from other films made by conventional Hollywood studios. Similarly, John Cassavetes in the United States began to focus on the handheld camera. Since then the handheld camera has become one of the popular shooting methods. Especially, handheld camera are noted for their agile movement and mobility as a way to capture various realities. However, with the advances in technology, lighter cameras and higher resolution have changed in different ways. The technology is neutral, one shooting method does not serve for one philosophy or ism. At one time, handheld shooting is now used as not only a means to capture the real world but also a tool to mimic a realistic feeling.
