Implementation of an EtherCAT Master with SOEM on STM32 Microcontroller (STM32 마이크로 컨트롤러에서 SOEM을 이용하는 EtherCAT 마스터 구현)

  • EtherCAT is an Ethernet-based fieldbus system standardized in IEC 61158 and SEMI, and widely used in the fields of factory automation, semiconductor equipment and robotics. In this paper, without operating system, we have implemented an EtherCAT master with an open source EtherCAT master stack SOEM on STM32 Nucleo-144 board with an STM32F767 microcontroller. And its jitter performance has been evaluated at the output of the network port to include all the effects of the entire system in the results. The results show that the implemented EtherCAT master has precise control performance for control frequencies from 1KHz to 8KHz and relatively superior jitter performance compared to the EtherCAT masters with real-time patched Linux operating system.

  • In this paper, we implement monitoring system for grain sorting using a high-speed FPGA and embedded LINUX. The proposed system is designed by base on web server and web-based applications while existing system was designed by base on stand-alone mode.The interface the Web server with high speed hardware of FPGA is designed on the implemented monitoring system. The proposed system has the advantages of multi-tasking on Linux web server and real-time high speed on FPGA also. The control logic of a high speed rate line-scan CCD camera, the method of center of gravity, HSL decoding and the interface on the Web server are implemented in FPGA. The implemented monitoring system has the advantage of being able to control the grain monitoring, system failure and recovery remotely by web application. As a result, we can upgrade the performance of sorting quality compared by existing system.

  • A micro embedded did the task to be simply the sequent at the past. The necessity of an embedded operating system did not exist in the reason. We satisfy the complication of the system and operating system have been desired for the officer of the process. The necessity of the process of real-time processing increased also with fast response time to users, The porting follows and have been composed of an real-time embedded operating system. We can control the control unit with the sensor to be established in the building, An embedded web sever to use the resource of the at least is appering a networking facility of interaction. In this paper, The web sever to be implemented in a purity software. We draw data for the thing to implement overall demo to the remote through Internet and We put the point even though we organized the frame to control this. we have successfully ported linux on an embedded system, which is based on intel StrongARM SA-1110 processor, then written several network modules of ethernet-based network device.

  • This paper suggests a new industrial automation system architecture which adopts the Real-Time CORBA as a solution for the recently emerging problems, such as cost eciency, interoperability with different networks, software productivity, etc. This paper shows how the adoption of RT-CORBA helps end-users to improve software productivity in the heterogeneous distributed system integrate eldbus with different kinds of network easily and lower the cost of hardware medication and extension, Finally, CRECO - a real- time CORBA which is in development and suited to industrial automation system - is introduced. RT-Linux and Probus - two major components while implementing the CRECO - are dealt with primarily.

  • In this paper, a real-time control system with Wi-Fi wireless communication was developed for dentistry Integrated Device. The control system is developed based on the Android platform using S3C6410 ARM core that is equipped with Wi-Fi communication, RS-485, Linux 2.6 and Android 2.0. The control system controls a water purifier, compressor and suction in real-time. The experimental results that the control system was controlled by each control modules connected with a water purifier, compressor and suction. The status values are displayed in real-time using RS485.

  • Recently, the amount of genome sequence is increasing rapidly due to advanced computational techniques and experimental tools in the biological area. Sequence comparisons are very useful operations to predict the functions of the genes or proteins. However, it takes too much time to compare long sequence data and there are many research results for fast sequence comparisons. In this paper, we propose a hybrid grid system to improve the performance of the sequence comparisons based on the LanLinux system. Compared with conventional approaches, hybrid grid is easy to construct, maintain, and manage because there is no need to install SWs for every node. As a real experiment, we constructed an orthologous database for 89 prokaryotes just in a week under hybrid grid; note that it requires 33 weeks on a single computer.

  • 실시간 운영 체제(Real-Time Operating System)는 특정 태스크가 정해진 시간 안에 수행될 수 있도록 시간 결정성(Determinism)을 보장하는 운영 체제이다. 실시간 운영테제는 멀티태스킹(Multitasking) 및 ITC(InterTask Communication 혹은 IPC, Interprocess Communication)을 제공한다는 점에서는 일반 운영체제인 Unix$^{TM}$, Linux$^{TM}$, Windows$^{TM}$ 등과 같지만, 시간 결정성을 보장한다는 점에서 일반 운영 체제와 다르다. 또만 실시간 운영 체제를 포함한 임베디드 시스템(Embedded System)은 일반적으로 디지털 카메라, 디지털 TV, DVD 등에서 수행되므로 실행 이미지(Image) 크기가 작아야 한다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 운영체제의 실행 이미지를 줄이면서 시간 결정성을 보장한 수 있도록 메모리 관리 체계를 설계하고 구현한 내용을 설명한다.

  • 실시간 운영 체제(Real-Time Operating System)는 시스템 동작이 논리적 정확성뿐만 아니라 시간적 정확성에도 좌우되는 운영 체제이다. 또한 실시간 운영체제는 멀티태스킹(Multitasking) 과 ITC(Inter Task Communication)을 제공한다는 점에서 일반 운영 체제인 Windows, Linux. Unix등과 같지만 시간적 정확성을 보장해야 한다는 점에서 일반 운영 체제와 다르다. 이러한 실시간 운영 체제를 포함하는 내장형 시스템(Embedded System)은 각각의 목적에 맞도록 모든 것이 최적화되어야 하므로 실행 이미지의 크기도 작아야 하고 사용 가능한 메모리에도 제한이 있다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 운영 체제에서 이러한 조건들을 고려하여 효율적인 메모리 사용을 위한 printf() 함수를 설계하고 구현한 내용에 대해서 설명한다.

Real-time Ray-tracing Chip Architecture

  • In this paper, we describe the world's first real-time ray-tracing chip architecture. Ray-tracing technology generates high-quality 3D graphics images better than current rasterization technology by providing four essential light effects: shadow, reflection, refraction and transmission. The real-time ray-tracing chip named RayChip includes a real-time ray-tracing graphics processing unit and an accelerating tree-building unit. An ARM Ltd. central processing unit (CPU) and other peripherals are also included to support all processes of 3D graphics applications. Using the accelerating tree-building unit named RayTree to minimize the CPU load, the chip uses a low-end CPU and decreases both silicon area and power consumption. The evaluation results with RayChip show appropriate performance to support real-time ray tracing in high-definition (HD) resolution, while the rendered images are scaled to full HD resolution. The chip also integrates the Linux operating system and the familiar OpenGL for Embedded Systems application programming interface for easy application development.

  • Recently, Embedded systems are different with the past as loading of a simple application program that executed specific functions according to the use and are evolved in the digital convergence integrated multimedia functions and then the complication of the application program is remarkably increased. This application program is combined and evolved with many application program in accordance with the demand of the age. For develope and manage this developing application is necessary standardized interface between developer and manager. POSIX was developed as the standard of the operating system in the standard interface which has the open system structure in computing system, and there is a posix.4 to standard for the system demands the loading of real-time operating system like a digital convergence devices. In this paper, we present the contents of designing and implementing the real-time operating system UbiFOSTM to wrapper for supporting the POSIX.4. Also, Experimental results show that implemented wrapper to application program standardizing POSIX.4 in linux and UbiFOSTM is slight only $3{\sim}9{\mu}s$.
