  • One of the main problems associated with MANETs is that mobility and the associated route discovery and maintenance procedures of reactive routing protocols cause severe interruptions on real-time video streams. Some of these interruptions are too large to be concealed using any sort of video technology, resulting in communications breaks unpleasant for the final end user. We present a solution for enhanced video transmission that increases route stability by using an improved route discovery process based on the DSR routing protocol, along with traffic splitting algorithms and a preventive route discovery mechanism. We also present some video adaptative mechanisms that improve the overall performance of multipath routing in terms of video data replication and video packet splitting strategies. Combining our proposals, we achieve up to 97% less interruptions on communication with high mobility and over 1.2 dB of improvements in terms of video distortion.

  • In implementing real time video on demand(VOD), the increase of user on internet causes a network traffic congestion. In this paper, we programmed a CGI able to login in VOD home for limiting the number of user in solving the problem, and also applied and adaptive multimedia synchronization technique for controlling video and audio data in a network. In addition, a real time multimedia player was designed and implemented in a personal computer operating at Window95/98/NT.

  • Face detection and recognition in real-time video constitutes one of the recent topics in the field of computer vision. In this paper, we propose face detection and tracking algorithm using the skin color and haar-like feature in real-time video sequence. The proposed algorithm further includes color space to enhance the result using haar-like feature and skin color. Experiment results reveal the real-time video processing speed and improvement in the rate of tracking.

  • In this paper, the efficient transmission technique of real time video data over 3G wireless networks is presented. To understand the transmission characteristic of 3G networks on real time video data, we implemented the data transport structure of 3G wireless networks. Also this research is based on current 3G wireless network specification of 3GPP, 3GPP2 standard organization to evaluate the result over real 3G wireless network environment. The retransmission by radio link layer results in the delay factor. To implement video data transmission efficiently, we Propose to use both no-retransmission and forward error correction method.

  • Car navigation system is one of the most important applications in telematics. A newest trend of car navigation system is using real video captured by camera equipped on the vehicle, because video can overcome the semantic gap between map and real world. In this paper, we suggest a visual car navigation system that visually represents navigation information or route guidance. It can improve drivers' understanding about real world by capturing real-time video and displaying navigation information overlaid on it. Main services of the visual car navigation system are graphical turn guidance and lane change guidance. We suggest the system architecture that implements the services by integrating conventional route finding and guidance, computer vision functions, and augmented reality display functions. What we designed as a core part of the system is visual navigation controller, which controls other modules and dynamically determines visual representation methods of navigation information according to a determination rule based on current location and driving circumstances. We briefly show the implementation of system.

  • A system design and realization for real time DVR system with robust video watermarking algorithm for contents security is presented in this paper. The robust video watermarking is used the intraframe space region and interframe insertion simultaneously, and to be processed at real time on image data and algorithm is used the 64bits special purpose quad DSP processor with assembly and soft pipeline codes. The experimental result shows that the processing time takes about 2.5ms in the D1 image per frame for 60% moving image.

  • The surveillance system to prevent crime and accidents in advance has become a necessity, not an option in real life. Not only public institutions but also individuals are installing surveillance cameras to protect their property and privacy. However, since the installed surveillance camera cannot be monitored for 24 hours, the focus is on the technology that tracks the video after an accident occurs rather than prevention. In this paper, we propose a system model that monitors abnormal behaviors that may cause crimes through real-time video, and when a specific behavior occurs, the surveillance system automatically detects it and responds immediately through an alarm. We are a model that analyzes real-time images from surveillance cameras and uses I3D models from analysis servers to analyze abnormal behavior and deliver notifications to web servers and then to clients. If the system is implemented with the proposed model, immediate response can be expected when a crime occurs.

  • In this letter, we propose a novel algorithm to predict MPEG-coded real-time variable bit rate (VBR) video traffic. From the frame size measurement, the algorithm extracts the statistical property of video traffic and utilizes it for the prediction of the next frame for I-, P-, and B- frames. The simulation results conducted with real-world MPEG-4 VBR video traces show that the proposed algorithm is capable of providing more accurate prediction than those in the research literature.

  • A real-time frame-layer rate control algorithm with a token bucket traffic shaper is proposed for distortion variation minimization. The proposed rate control method uses a non-iterative optimization method for low computational complexity, and performs bit allocation at the frame level to minimize the average distortion over an entire sequence as well as variations in distortion between frames. The proposed algorithm does not produce time delay from encoding, and is suitable for real-time low-complexity video encoder. Experimental results indicate that the proposed control method provides better visual and PSNR performances than the existing rate control method.

  • This article presents a simple and reasonable in-service, real-time, and continuous single-ended objective video quality assessment model for DTV broadcasting using a multiburst signal at the bottom of the transient effect area, similar to Vertical Interval Test Signals. The issue of in-service video-quality monitoring in DTV broadcasting is addressed, and an effective method of quality monitoring is presented. The proposed method is also implemented and tested in a range of situations using a simulated HDTV broadcasting network.
