STABLE AUTONOMOUS DRIVING METHOD USING MODIFIED OTSU ALGORITHM

  • In this paper a robust image processing method with modified Otsu algorithm to recognize the road lane for a real-time controlled autonomous vehicle is presented. The main objective of a proposed method is to drive an autonomous vehicle safely irrespective of road image qualities. For the steering of real-time controlled autonomous vehicle, a detection area is predefined by lane segment, with previously obtained frame data, and the edges are detected on the basis of a lane width. For stable as well as psudo-robust autonomous driving with "good", "shady" or even "bad" road profiles, the variable threshold with modified Otsu algorithm in the image histogram, is utilized to obtain a binary image from each frame. Also Hough transform is utilized to extract the lane segment. Whether the image is "good", "shady" or "bad", always robust and reliable edges are obtained from the algorithms applied in this paper in a real-time basis. For verifying the adaptability of the proposed algorithm, a miniature vehicle with a camera is constructed and tested with various road conditions. Also, various highway road images are analyzed with proposed algorithm to prove its usefulness.

실시간 처리를 위한 쿼드트리 기반 무손실 영상압축 및 암호화 (QuadTree-Based Lossless Image Compression and Encryption for Real-Time Processing)

  • 일반적으로 무손실 영상압축 및 암호화 방법에는 압축과 암호화 과정이 독립적으로 이루어진다. 압축 후 암호화를 수행하면 압축열이 암호에 대한 평문으로 사용되므로 압축에 따른 엔트로피가 감소하여 랜덤한 성질을 갖게된다. 그러나 압축열 전체에 대한 암호화는 수행시간이 길어져 실시간 처리를 저해하는 원인이 되기도 한다. 본 논문에서는 무손실 영상압축과 암호의 결합에서 전체 처리시간을 줄이는 방법을 제안한다. 이는 쿼드트리 압축 알고리즘으로 그레이 영상을 분해하여 구조부분만을 암호화하는 방법이다. 아울러 영상의 무상관성과 동질영역을 확보하기 위한 변환과정을 수행하여 무손실 압축성능을 개선하였고, 쿼드트리 분해시 암호화되지 않은 데이터를 레벨별로 재구성하여 안전성을 갖도록 하였다. 모의 실험을 통하여 제안한 방법이 영상 압축율의 개선과 암호화 방법의 안전성 확보 및 실시간 처리가 가능함을 확인하였다.

다기능 영상처리 시스템의 하드웨어 구현 (Hardware Implementation of a Multi-Function Image Processing System)

  • Generally, general-purpose image processing system is so expensive that not so many users easily can access the system. In this paper attemps have been made to design and describe a general and economical image processing system for real-time aplications such as image data compression, pattern recognition and target tracking. The system comprises an operator console, image data acquisition/display sistem and IBM PC/XT. The system also utilizes a high speed Fairchild 16-bit microprocessor with ALU speed of 375 nsec for system control, algrithm execution and user computation. The system also can digitize /display a 256x 256x 8 bit image in real time and store two frames of images. All image pixels are directly accessible by the microprocessor for fast and efficient computation. Some experimental and illustrative results such as target tracking are presented to show the efficient performance of the system.

  • Algorithms to detect in real-time both position and orientation of rectangular type electronic components are developed for industrial vision. In order to conduct detection in real-time, parallel processing algorithm of image date which uses several control processor is proposed. Image processing area is divided into several regions which can be processed by each cpu. As a result, processing time is improved when two control processors are used and real-time pattern recognition of not-well-aligned components is accomplished.

  • In this study, the basic image-board and algorithm has been developed to extract a road lane by modeling the driving process. The high speed processing enables an image capture, processing and prompt decision making. In order to high speed processing ASIC like FPGA was designed and integrated in one board system. The algorithm enabling road driving must recognize a straight and bend edge separately. The high speed image processing board using FPGA can be used in real-time decision makeing system for road driving and in the machine vision under bad working environments like a coal mine. And it also can be used in the safety control system in subway and in image input system of CCTV and CATV by designing the board to meet various user's needs.

  • In this paper, we have proposed the contrast control method for improving image quality. The proposed method can be easily applied to the FPD (flat panel display) which requires real-time processing because of its lower hardware complexity that the conventional methods. In addition, it can flexibly control the contrast of input image by arraying the weight values that control the contrast range. Visual test and standard deviation of their histograms have been introduced to evaluate the results of proposed method and the original images. The functional operation of he proposed method has been verified using the SYNOPSYS VHDL tool and computer simulation. Its results show that he proposed method might be very suitable for real-time processing on the FPD.

  • Although the object detection accuracy with a single image has been significantly improved with the advance of deep learning techniques, the detection accuracy for pig monitoring is challenged by occlusion problems due to a complex structure of a pig room such as food facility. These detection difficulties with a single image can be mitigated by using a video data. In this research, we propose a method in pig detection for video monitoring environment with a static camera. That is, by using both image processing and deep learning techniques, we can recognize a complex structure of a pig room and this information of the pig room can be utilized for improving the detection accuracy of pigs in the monitored pig room. Furthermore, we reduce the execution time overhead by applying a pruning technique for real-time video monitoring on an embedded board. Based on the experiment results with a video data set obtained from a commercial pig farm, we confirmed that the pigs could be detected more accurately in real-time, even on an embedded board.

사용자 보호를 위한 실시간 이미지 모자이크 처리 시스템 개발 (Implementation of Real-Time Image Blurring System for User Privacy Support)

  • Recently, with the explosive increase of video streaming services, real-time live broadcasting has also increased, which leads to an infringement problem for user privacy. So, to solve such problems, we proposed the real image blurring system using dlib face-recognition library. 68 face landmarks are extracted and convert into 128 vector values. After that the proposed system tries to compare this value with the image in the database, and if it is over 0.45, it is considered as different person and image blurring processing is performed. With the proposed system, it is possible to solve the problem of user privacy infringement, and also to be utilized to detect the specific person. Through experimental results, the proposed system has an accuracy of more than 90% in terms of face recognition.

  • This paper describes realtime visual tracking system of moving object for three dimensional target using EKF(Extended Kalman Filter). We present a new realtime visual tracking using EKF algorithm and image prediction algorithm. We demonstrate the performance of these tracking algorithm through real experiment. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the EKF algorithm and image prediction algorithm for realtime tracking and estimated state value of filter, predicting the position of moving object to minimize an image processing area, and by reducing the effect by quantization noise of image.

라인메모리 유형에 따른 이미지 처리 속도의 분석 (Analysis of the Image Processing Speed by Line-Memory Type)

  • 영상처리는 현재 다양한 분야에서 활용되고 있다. 그중 자율주행 자동차, 의료 영상처리, 로봇 제어 등은 빠른 영상처리 응답 속도가 필요하다. 이를 충족하기 위해 실시간 처리를 위한 하드웨어 설계가 활발히 연구되고 있다. 하드웨어 처리 속도는 입력 영상의 크기 외에도, 이미지에서 라인과 프레임을 구분하는 비활성화 영상 공백 구간의 크기에 영향을 받는다. 본 논문에서는 비활성화 영상 공백 구간과 밀접한 관련이 있는 라인메모리 유형에 따라 세 가지 스케일러 구조를 설계한다. 이 구조들은 Verilog 표준 언어를 사용하여 하드웨어로 설계되고, Xilinx Vivado 2023.1을 이용하여 field programmable gate array 환경에서 논리회로로 합성된다. 합성된 결과는 실시간 처리할 수 있는 표준 이미지 크기를 비교하면서 프레임 레이트 분석에 사용된다.
