This paper aims to examine the performativity of street politics through Suffragette. The movie exposes the bloody violence of Britain government and shows the militant suffragettes and their resistance against it. It also deals with history and 'story'of labor class suffragettes for political rights. The paper shows how the movie is re-born as an indexical art and the street politics makes the plural performativity. Most of all, it reads the difference between the government's violence wielded as a power to suppress the suffragettes and bring them to their knees, and the suffragettes's violence having the resistant and emancipated revolution. We can realize that the suffragettes used the mode of visibility to expose its incompetence and make their emancipated violence into the indexical force. And we can see the variations of street politics from the acts of Davison, Maud, and Violet.

In 2016, an innovative liquid damper system was installed on the roof of a 35-story modular building in Brooklyn, NY to mitigate wind-induced movement of the structure. The new damper presented several advantages over traditional pendulum, liquid column or sloshing dampers, including lower fabrication and maintenance costs, modularity, and the flexibility to be tuned to a wider range of frequencies. The performance of the system was monitored on a regular basis over the past four years and found adequate, with only minor re-tuning and maintenance operations needed. Based on the experience and data gained through this project, a second iteration of the damper was developed. Called Hummingbird, the improved system further mitigates maintenance and tuning concerns, while allowing significant space savings.

Pohang earthquake occurred on November 15, 2017, with a magnitude of 5.4. The damage of the structure caused by the Pohang earthquake was the most significant in 4-story piloti-type buildings, where the damage patterns were different according to the location of columns and walls at the first story. One building with a staircase at a corner shows shear failure at columns, and Another building with a staircase in the middle shows no failure or shear failure at staircase walls. Therefore, two different piloti-type buildings were selected; one has a staircase at a corner and another has in the middle, and the seismic behavior of the buildings were examined by nonlinear dynamic analysis applying a ground motion measured at Pohang. Analytical model well simulated the actual behavior of the piloti-type buildings during the earthquake. Analysis results showed that walls have an insufficient shear strength wherever the location of the staircase is and columns with insufficient transverse reinforcement could be failed when the staircase is located at a corner. Conclusively, structural engineers should design columns and walls in piloti-type buildings to possess sufficient capacity according to the location of staircase.

This paper presents plans to develop cultural archetype into a cultural industry. Though, various types of cultural products are being developed, they're not very popular to consumers and has very limited market. Reason for that is, most of these products are simple replicas of cultural assets or they are focused solely on restoring the traditions without considering trend. This study was focused on patterns found on the relics from mausoleum of king Mooryung of Baek-je. Main focus was the meaning of important patterns as generalized representation of traditional and emotional value. In addition, the study was done with the idea that developing the design of cultural products should be presented in modern style while carrying the traditional value and the story telling elements. The order of developing the design should be, first, forming process based on its original form and the elements, and developing a design motive based on the story the pattern is carrying. Then develop sample products with the motive.

Drift design methods using resizing algorithms have been presented as a practical drift design method since the resizing algorithms proposed easily find drift contribution of each member, called member displacement participation factor, to lateral drift to be designed without calculation of sensitivity coefficient or re-analysis. Weight of material to be redistributed for minimization of the lateral drift is determined according to the member displacement participation factors. However, resizing algorithms based on energy theorem must consider loading conditions because they have different displacement contribution according to different loading conditions. Furthermore, to improve practicality of resizing algorithms, structural member grouping is required in application of resizing algorithms to drift control of high-rise buildings. In this study, three resizing algorithms on considering load condition and structural member grouping are developed and applied to drift design of a 20-story steel-frame shear-wall structure and a 50-story frame shear-wall system with outriggers.

The FEMA P695 document proposed a methodology to evaluate the collapse safety of a structure and the validity of the seismic design coefficients. In this study, the seismic performance of six- and twelve-story staggered wall structures with a middle corridor was evaluated based on the FEMA P695 procedure. The analysis results of the prototype structures were compared with those of the structures with an increased coupling beam depth or an increased re-bar ratio of the coupling beams in order to investigate the effect of retrofit. The adjusted collapse margin ratios (ACMR) of the model structures obtained from incremental dynamic analyses turned out to be larger than the specified limit states of an ACMR of 20%, which implies that the analysis model structures have enough strength against design level earthquakes. It was also observed that the increase in the re-bar ratio of the coupling beams between the staggered walls was more effective in increasing the ACMR than an increase in the depth of the coupling beams.

The Guro Exporting Industrial Complex has become a core of success story of Korean economy in 1960s. Re-examining the making process of Guro Complex, this paper intends to disclose the real and fictional aspects of this myth. For this purpose, this study tries to inquire into this process which is divided as dimensions of conception, execution and evaluation from a view of political sociology. Its results are as follows: The making of Guro Complex was not propelled by the state unilaterally, but passed through the process of conflicts and conciliations among various social forces such as state, business groups and local communities etc. As this complex was built on the basis of state's full supports, it is difficult to conclude it as a case of 'parasitic industrialization'. And in spite of its ostensible success, it is difficult to evaluate that its original goal which means a building of the bonded exporting complex with Japanese Koreans' investment was accomplished. Therefore it is needed to discover its whole aspect from the comprehensive perspective, not to be enchanted by its official results.

The purpose of this study is to describe the SW Convergence education class applying the Novel Engineering teaching method during the creative experiential activity time. We developed a SW convergence education program for a patriotism class applying Novel Engineering, a new educational method instead of writing and drawing. Through this lesson program, students can improve their problem-solving ability based on their computational thinking and enhance their love spirit about country. Students read a book that tells the story of patriot, writes the historical scene presented in the book through scenarios through Re-enactment, and implements the simulation situation using Lego WeDo 2.0. The results of this study based on the analysis of the data on the questionnaire showed that there is a significant students' change through the SW convergence education program for patriotism class. In the future, we will expand the scope to more various grades and subjects so that we can generalize the effectiveness of SW convergence education applying Novel Engineering.

A common fallacy found at opera works is to lean either toward 'opera as drama' or toward 'opera as music'. One of the historical examples of opera creation to overcome this fallacy is Puccini's $\grave{e}$me>. The composer Puccini and the librettists, Illica and Giacossa, found balance between these two extreme poles, which was made possible by keeping the color of the original novel "scenes de la vie de boh$\grave{e}$me" and simultaneously by reconstructing the most operatic characters and story. Their strategies, which can be summerized as 'simplification', 'romanticization and re-creation of characters', and 'realistic description of original atmosphere'. There strategy of adaptation and the 'episodic' feature as the outcome can be a good example for creators of new opera works.

This paper suggests a different reading of James Joyce's "Araby" by offering the video game as a lens through which we can reimagine the story. Understanding the unnamed boy's journey to the Araby bazaar as a fetch quest, this paper focuses on the boy's failure to complete this quest. As soon as the boy promises Mangan's sister something from Araby, his fetch quest begins. In order to complete the quest, the boy must successfully perform three sub-quests: get money from his uncle as early as he can, get on the train for the Araby bazaar on time, and pass through the sixpenny entrance at the bazaar. However, because his uncle comes home late, the boy fails to get the money early, and that sets off the subsequent failures. The boy then takes the train late and arrives at the bazaar so late that he feels he must go through any entrance. So he walks through the adult entrance by mistake. As a result, he does not have enough money to buy a gift, failing the larger quest. But, regardless of this failure, the boy can try these quests as many as he wants until he finally succeeds in completing them. But no matter how the boy tries to accomplish these subquests, he is doomed to fail them because he cannot make his uncle come home early. The more he tries his quest, the more bitterly he realizes that he will ultimately fail. In this respect, the boy's "anguish and anger" should be understood as his epiphany: the re-playability of the game is possible, but all the replays lead to the same failure: losing the game. In this regard, reading Joyce's "Araby" is much like playing a video game.
