  • Automatic Train Protection(ATP) System is developed by ETCS(European Train Control System) CONSORTIUM for unify Europe railway system. ATP system is composed of Eurobalise and EuroATC. Nowadays, Korea construct ATP system in conventional line and new electrical locomotives also install ATP system. It is important to verify quality which form checklist during Factory Acceptance Test at beyond the seas. In this paper, review the process, test item, norm and checklist for the Balise Transmission Module, Compact Antenna Unit, Vehicle Control Unit and Communication Controller at the Plymouth Bombardier and Vasteras enics factory.

  • Computer aided simulation is an essential part in planning, design, and operation of railway systems. To determine the adequate performance and specification of railway system, it is necessary to calculate train performances such as distance, speed, power during train's running. This paper presents result of train performance simulation using the program that developed for Korea high speed train. To verify result of simulation, we have compared that with experiment data.

  • Power line communication(PLC) is a kind of communication technology, was made use of controling a frequency narrow band, but as the PLC technology developing, in the near future get to the commercial step that is broadband PLC upto 30 MHz. This paper deals with the PLC of electric railway using capacitive signal coupler. An AC arrester for catenary is used as a capacitive signal coupler, has the characteristic of capacitor. As a result of field test, a messenger wire used PLC contain much of conducted noise about overall frequency band and also signal attenuation rate increased with increasing frequency between two points. and the communication speed of PLC used messenger wire is 793kbps at a distance of 40m. Experimental results show the possibility of PLC using a messenger wire and an AC arrester for catenary at electric railway.

원호형 차륜답면형상(안) 설계 및 현차시험 결과 (Arc-type Wheel Profile Design and Test Results)

  • The rolling-stocks on conventional line have suffered wheel problems due to the incompatibility between wheel and track condition. Especially, The 1:40 coned wheel profile's wear is very severe and these increase wheel maintenance cost. Thus we designed several arc-type wheel profiles coned 1:/20 to reduce the wheel flange wear and analyzed the dynamic performance of designed profiles. Tests carried out in service line to analyse the dynamic performance and verify the wear reduction for two cases of profiles. Test results shows the equal level of dynamic performance and the improvement of wheel flange wear compared with the conical wheel profile coned 1:40.

  • New locomotives 8100 & series 8200, based on the BR152 of German railway are suitable for heavy-duty freight traffic as well as for passenger transport. This electric locomotive had applied by trial petition way and 57 car is operating in mainline and industrial line until now. As matter of fact, this has a purpose to help designing and manufacturing the new electric locomotive in these day when almost all the line is changing into the electric fire line. This thesis has a purpose to check whether the actual simulation value properly apply and meet the designing value, comparing the result of the simulation for the performance of developed locomotive with the result of the type test which can be proceed in actual locomotive in korea (evaluating both the design value and the performance of the real locomotive).

  • We carried out a vibration test to analyze causes of the damage in the plate of Bell Crank of the high speed Line turnout, at the section where the plate of high speed railway turnout get damaged from May 8th to 9th in 2006. In addition, through a test of the material quality, we performed an analysis of the qualities (of the components) composing the plate. The result indicates that the main cause of faults of the high speed line turnout, which is installed in the section of Chil-gok IEC, is the vibration. In this paper, effects on track-side equipments from vibration, and measurements to protect them from it are mainly analyzed and checked.

3-축 대차 곡형평판차량의 주행안전성 평가 (Evaluation of Running Safety for Depressed Center Flat Car of 3-axle Bogie)

  • For the safety of railway, it should be evaluated for the running safety by measuring the derailment coefficient. Although railway has run the fixed and maintained rail, some of railway is derailed. This report shows the results that performed the static load test, main line running test on the basis of the derailment theory and experience. It is executed main line test into more than 90km/h for estimating the curving performance and running safety of depressed center flat car of 3-axle bogie. As the test results, could confirm the curving performance and running safety of depressed center fiat car of 3-axle bogie from the results of the wheel unloading, lateral force, derailment coefficient etc. Derailment coefficient was less than 0.6, and lateral force allowance limit and wheel load reduction ratio were enough safe.

현장측정을 통한 기존 분기기용 목침목과 개량 분기기 부절침목의 동적거동 비교평가 (Dynamic Behavior Evaluation for Split PC sleeper using the Field Test)

  • The major objective of this study is to investigate the dynamic behavior evaluation of split PC sleepers for railway turnout by the field test. In railway engineering, a turnout is necessary to allow a vehicle to move from one track to another. So, turnout is required very complex railway technologies such as lolling stock, track. In reference to conventional line speed-up and improvement railway, accurate assembly of turnout affects travel ins qualify of turnout area and running safety. Because of heavy weight and a large volume of the long sleeper used to turnout and car limit, transport and the prerequisite for trouble-free transport of the factory pre-assembled major turnout components is achieved through division of long sleepers. The one of the advantages for using a split sleeper is to reduce the dynamic vibration according to the information of developed nations. Therefore, we investigate the characteristic of dynamic behaviors of split sleepers which are adopted for the first time to improve performance of turnout From the field test results of the split sleeper, it is evaluated that the modification of weight, material and stiffness compared with wood sleeper is very effective for the ballast safety. However, the decrease in vibration of split sleeper was not found out.

수서고속철도 전차선로의 설치조건의 따른 집전상태 분석 (Analysis of Current Collect Performance Depending on Installation Condition of Overhead Contact Line in Suseo High Speed Line)

  • This paper describes the dynamic characteristics depending on installation condition between a pantograph and an OCL (Overhead Contact Line) on a new high speed line in Korea. The current collection performance between the pantograph and the OCL was tested during train operation from Suseo to Jije stations. The current collection performance is evaluated based on the duration of an arc by using an arcing measurement system. The system consists of an optical sensor for measuring the duration of an arc and a camera for monitoring current collection performance. An arcing duration is defined as a percentage of arcing in international standards. This test aims to analyze the locations of repetitive arcing depending on installation conditions of OCLs on a new high speed line in order to use the result as reference data for correct construction and maintenance.

  • AGT system is a kind of light railway train. AGT system use of concrete track and rubber tire, so it can be reduce the noise and vibration, compare to the normal train system. And, the dynamic responses of normal bridge are influenced by the dynamic characteristics of bridge, the speed of vehicle and the surface roughness of railway. But the AGT system bridge is influenced not only the above facts but also the guiderail unevenness, because, AGT vehicle steered by guiderail. So, in this study, optimized service condition is suggested for the design and operation of AGT system, by the means of experimental study. The experiments are executed for PSC bridge with length of 30m, at the AGT test line in Kyongsan. The test results are compared and investigated according to the prominence. In the test result, the guiderail prominence influenced on the dynamic response of bridge. It shows a increase as compared with no guiderail prominence in the dynamic response value acceleration, displacement, stain.
