Stochastic Channel Modeling for Railway Tunnel Scenarios at 25 GHz

  • More people prefer using rail traffic for travel or for commuting owing to its convenience and flexibility. The railway scenario has become an important communication scenario in the fifth generation era. The communication system should be designed to support high-data-rate demands with seamless connectivity at a high mobility. In this paper, the channel characteristics are studied and modeled for the railway tunnel scenario with straight and curved route shapes. On the basis of measurements using the "Mobile Hotspot Network" system, a three-dimensional ray tracer (RT) is calibrated and validated for the target scenarios. More channel characteristics are explored via RT simulations at 25.25 GHz with a 500-MHz bandwidth. The key channel parameters are extracted, provided, and incorporated into a 3rd-Generation-Partnership-Project-like stochastic channel generator. The necessary channel information can be practically realized, which can support the link-level and system-level design of the communication system in similar scenarios.

도시철도 건설공사의 공종별 위험도에 관한 연구 (A Study on The Risk Level of Work Types in Urban Railway Construction)

  • The goals of this study were to investigate some significant factors to judge level of safety at urban railway construction field and to analyze degree of risk by work classification. Currently, there are lots of construction fields for the urban railway for national transportation, and our government also planned constructing more urban railway in near future. However, most of the researches on safety neglected the degree of risk factors on the urban railway construction field. Safety managers participated in the brainstorming session for deriving decision criteria of the degree of risk (i.e., significant factors). Then, they were asked to answer a structured questionnaire which was developed for deriving most important factors. Finally, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was used to analyze level of risk by work classification. The following results were obtained. First, total twelve factors judging degree of risk were found in the brainstorming session. Second, the questionnaire showed four significant factors, including adjacency of obstacle, intensity of work, unsafe condition and work space. Third, the results of AHP showed civil work is the most dangerous work among 6 work types. The results could be used to give the safety management priority on accident prevention efforts among several hazards and to reduce degree of risk in construction field of the urban railway.

  • 유라시아 이니셔티브의 일환으로 남북철도 연결사업을 실시하고 이를 통한 철도 물류망을 확보할 경우 대한민국은 또다른 경쟁력을 확보하고 이를 바탕으로 한 성장의 한 기틀이 마련될 수 있을 것이다. 남북철도 연결사업에서 철도노반분야의 가장 중요한 부분은 북한철도의 개량 또는 건설이다. 북한의 경우 지질학적으로는 대한민국과 큰 차이를 보이고 있지 않으나 특히 동절기 기후는 큰 차이를 보이고 있다. 동절기 기후에서 가장 철도 운행 안전에 피해를 주는 것은 동상이다. 동상은 선로구조물의 융기를 유발하여 철도차량의 운행안정성에 큰 위험요소로 작용한다. 하지만 대한민국은 북한에 비하여 상대적으로 온화한 기후로 인하여 극한의 조건에 대한 연구가 부족하며, 철도설계기준에도 구체적인 방안이 없는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 극한조건에서의 철도지하횡단구조물의 동상에 대하여 연구하였으며, 국외기준 분석 및 현장시공을 통한 철도설계기준 개정방안에 대하여 분석하였다.

Improving Collision Energy Absorption In High Speed Train By Using Thin Walled Tubes

  • The purpose of this paper is investigating the effect and influence rates of utilizing thin walled energy absorption tubes for improving crashworthiness parameter by increasing energy absorption of the body in high speed railcars. In order to find this, a proper profile of available tubes is chosen and added to the structure of selected high speed train in Iranian railway network (Pardis Trainset) and then examined in the scenario of impact with other moving rolling stock. Because of the specific features of LS-DYNA 3D software at collision analysis, the dynamic simulation has been performed in LS-DYNA 3D. The results of the analysis clearly indicate the improvement of train crashworthiness as the energy absorption of structure increases more than 30 percent in comparison with the original body. This strategy delays and reduces the shock to the structure. The verification of the simulation is by using ECE R66 standard.

철도안전시스템에 적용한 시스템 엔지니어링 관리 계획 작성사례 연구 (A Study on the Systems Engineering Management Plan for the Railway Safety System)

  • The Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) is the primary, top level technical management document for the integration of all engineering activities at the project plan phase. This document defined the activities to plan, control, and perform overall engineering integration. To develop the SEMP for Railway Safety System, several standards are reviewed and analyzed. And then a common requirement for SEMP preparation is derived from the results of analysis. Also, the SEMP example available practically applies to Railway Safety System. In particular, The SEMP focused on controling technical program management has been organized so far, but in this study the detailed contents of SEMP put stress on project management is derived. And it is related to each other between project management and technical engineering management. At the end, to continuously manage the items and contents of the SEMP, a database management and an automatic document generation system is presented using Computer-Aided Systems Engineering (CASE) tool.

Railway Track Maintenance Scheduling using Artificial Bee Colony and Harmony Search

  • The objective of this paper is to propose a heuristic algorithm to optimize the railway track maintenance scheduling, a NP-hard problem, by reflecting conditions of the actual field more quickly and easily. We develop the mechanism based on Binary Artificial Bee Colony (BABC) and Binary Harmony Search (BHS), and verify their performance through simulation experiments. Our proposed BABC and BHS mechanisms were applied to problems composed of 30, 60, 100, and 200 operations for railway track maintenance scheduling to carry out experiments and analysis. On comparing it with the results solved by CPLEX, it is found that the mechanism could present an optimal solution within limited time by user.

  • Verification and testing are complementary techniques that are used to increase the level of confidence in the correct functioning of communication systems as prescribed by their specifications. This paper presents an experience of model checking for a formal railway signaling protocol specified in LTS (Labeled Transition System). This formal approach checks deadlock, livelock and reachability for the state and action to verify whether properties expressed in modal logic are true on specifications. We also propose a formal method for semi-automated test case generation for a railway signaling protocol described in I/O FSM (Input/Output Finite State Machine). This enables the generation of more complete and consistent test sequence for conformance testing. The above functions are implemented by C++ language and included within RSPVTE (Railway Signaling Protocol Verification and Testing Environment).

  • The purpose of this paper is to compensate the voltage drop of the power system in the AC High-Speed Railway (HSR). Reactive power compensation is often the most effective way to improve system voltage drop. The suitable modeling of the electric railway system should be applied to the EMTP. the dynamic characteristics of 3-Phase Induction Motor in Electric Railway Systems is considered for precise modeling. it is shown through EMTP simulation that voltage drop can be compensated effectively by STATCOM.

  • The RAMS Process is the Internationally required activity to secure Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety of system which will be acquired as customer requirements. The importance are situations that have been growing gradually. Specially, When developing railway system, the needs of customer about RAMS Process has been being proposed in a variety of railroad business. Through this paper, It introduces the international standards described the RAMS Process and also presents the requirements that should have to comply with it. Furthermore, the necessary activities to get certificate of a Railway system are suggested and not only the various acquisition cases of certificate but also lessons learned by cases in the field of railway signalling system are presented.

  • To maintain design-knowledge database and manage configuration for requirement of performance tests and safety standards of High Speed Railway(HSR), It is established that management system of performance tests and safety standards and then constructed that design-knowledge database and documented a performance test and safety specifications for supporting performance test and safety system using Model-Based Systems Engineering(MBSE) tool.
