  • The development of Technology study for preventing of accident and reducing the risk through the intelligence of level crossing is provide the detection of stopped car at railway crossing with the most advanced intelligence technology such as sensor, computer, communication and date processing and transmit to the operational staff on broad for reaction or make the train stopped automatically through the connection with train. Also this study include that showing the situation of crossing railway when the train is approached and prevent the accident and reduce the risk through the connection of road transit signal system. On this study is performed the test through the date from spot level crossing and the development of video detection algorism for stopped road transit vehicle at level crossing with intelligent system.

A Study on the Improvement of Release Application Characteristics of Pneumatic Brakes for Freight Train

  • We have performed experimental studies for the improvements of pneumatic brake systems of freight trains. Currently, most of the freight trains operated by the Korean National Railroad have either empty-load or diaphragm type brake systems. In this study, appropriate methods that the air pressure characteristics in both type of brake systems are in accordance with each other have been investigated. We have also performed running tests using a 30 car-train set to design optimum capacity of a quick release valve. The test results show that the quick release valve is considerably effective in shortening the release time of the diaphragm type brake system. In the case of a normal brake application, the diaphragm type brake system with the quick release valve reduces the release time to 34% of that of the system without the quick release valve. This release time is almost equivalent to that of the empty-load type brake system. Accordance of braking performance in different types of brake systems in a train set is expected to prevent wheel flats and to reduce maintenance costs.

  • An interest is increased of environment and energy so, importance on railroad high energy efficiency is magnified. And after Gyeong-bu High speed rail is completed, share rate freight transportation of railroad is expected to be gradually increased due to expand investment for railroad and operate mainly freight transportation on convention line. Therefore a research on DMT freight cars is necessary under like this situation. In paper, we developed analysis model for DMT freight car and DMT freight was analyzed numerically using VI-Rail in each condition of railway having different curve and carried out vibration analysis on curving using developed analysis model. And we carried out test on driving stability follow changing curve radius then measure against UIC code 518.

  • Cooling and heating equipments of railroad passenger cabin is one of the most important part in keeping the good thermal comfort of the passengers. The bad performance of these equipments usually results in the comfort of the passengers. However, there is no testing method for cooling and heating equipments during manufacturing the passenger car, and calculation method is frequently used. Many railroad operators spend a lot of money for the maintenance. In this study, a new environmental performance test for railroad passenger cabin was suggested. The temperature of the chamber will be changed from $-40^{\circ}C$ to $60^{\circ}C$. The performance test of cooling and heating equipment in controlling the passenger cabin temperature was carried out under various temperature condition. The testing method to investigate the effect of artificial sunlight irradiation on the passenger cabin temperature was also suggested.

  • Recently, the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) is the most important international issue. In order to control efficiently GHG emissions and reduction, it is essential to establish GHG inventory preferentially. The aim of this study was to establish the GHG inventory of Korean railroad. The GHG sources were divided into direct and indirect emissions. The GHG released from the operation of rolling stocks was classified according to operating line and the kind of car. Finally, the GHG emission of Korean railroad can be managed systematically using this GHG inventory.

  • It is one of the most effective methods for improving the performance of electric railway vehicles to make better the wheel-rail adhesion characteristics. To study adhesion characteristic is to develop the equivalent reduction machine to experiment on the adhesion system. The experiment system makes it possible to change the wheel-rail adhesion force with various adhesion parameters, and therewith to test the adhesion control system with the reduction machine in a laboratory. In this paper, for improving adhesion performance shows actually control methods.

  • This paper proposes the Advanced Generic BOM(AGBOM) which is more flexible BOM system than existing GBOM. The existing GBOM system has the limitation of Result BOM construction and selecting options by choosing only one Variant under given Cluster. In order to overcome this limitation, AGBOM can make more various Result BOM by selecting several Variants under given Cluster. Also, this paper describes UT-AGBOM which can use to rolling stock through constructing urban transit BOM using the proposed AGBOM. The last, this paper describes the various Result BOM examples constructed from Source BOM of UT-AGBOM, such as rolling-stock maintenance BOM, individual car BOM, etc.

  • 본 논문은 철도 차량용 electro-mechanical brake (EMB)의 클램핑 포스 과도응답 향상을 위한 토크 예측 제어 방법을 제안한다. 일반적으로 철도 차량에는 공압식 제동 시스템이 사용된다. 공압식 제동 시스템은 외부환경 변화에 민감하며, 과도응답 속도가 느리기 때문에 공주시간이 증가한다. 또한, 긴급 제동과 같은 기준 이상의 제동 토크를 인가하는 경우에 제동 효율이 낮은 단점이 있다. 이러한 공압식 제동 시스템의 단점은 철도 차량용 EMB 시스템을 적용하여 극복할 수 있다. 철도 차량용 EMB 시스템은 차량의 축중을 감소시키고, 설계 공간을 확보하기 때문에 연비 증가 및 설계 유연성 확보 등의 장점을 갖는다. 본 논문에서는 철도 차량용 EMB의 클램핑 포스 과도응답 향상을 위한 제어 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 제어 방법의 타당성은 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증한다.

철도차량의 국제 기후환경 시험규격의 수행방안 연구 (Study on the International Climatic Testing Standard for Passenger Car)

  • subway has became citizen's feet which can transport over 24 million people since the era of high oil price started. Because the request of passengers for more comfortable thermal comfort is drastically increasing, the importance of comfortable environment in the passenger car is more stressed. This paper suggests an indicator whether railroad car is fitted with suitable cooling and heating equipment by applying the international climatic testing method, UIC 553, 553-1. Specified ambient temperature, humidity, solar irradiation condition, as well as extreme outside condition, can be achieved by using an environmental chamber. The change temperature and humidity in the passenger space can be monitored to judge if the passenger room is nicely air-conditioned.
