  • The general concept of reinforced roadbed in the high-speed railway is to cope with the soft ground for the bearing capacity and settlement of foundation soil. The cyclic plate load tests were performed to determine the behavior of reinforced ground with multiple layers of geogrid underlying by soft soil. Five series of test were conducted with varying the soil profile conditions including the ground level, type of soil, and the thickness of each soil layer. Based on these plate load tests, laboratory model tests under cyclic loading were conducted to know the effect of geogrid reinforcement in particular for the high-speed rail roadbed. The permanent settlement and the behavior of earth pressure in reinforced roadbed subjected to a combination of static and dynamic loading are presented.

  • In this paper, the reduction effect of dry (solid) lubrication on wheel flange wear rates is studied. The solid / dry lubricator systems were attached to the most front and furthest back axles of a coach in order to examine the wear behavior of the equipped wheels. An attempt is also made to make a comparison between wear behaviors of these wheel flanges having dry lubrication devices with non-lubricated wheels in other railcars. Finally, a comparison is made between life-cycle of wheels under investigation and other similar wheel types.

  • In construction work's design process, we must carry out a topographical survey for construction reserved land and to the basis of this, production of profile is indispensable factor for the purpose of every construction work such as road, rail way, canal and etc. From this research, the production of profile about construction reserved land, using topographical information of digital topographical map produced by NGIS project, construct precision 3D terrain model and from this, propose plans for utilizing by producing automatic profile. With the aim of this, extract every layers of main facilities and altitude from digital topographical map and while producing 3D terrain model by using this, we product automatic profile from precision 3D terrain model. And we was carried out to check whether the automatic produced profile's accuracy could be accepted at actual estimation by mutual analysis. It is considered that the result of the research could be suggested as a new techniques concept which can reduce the designing period and expenses and increase the efficiency of affair in the design process for the construction.

  • To reduce the vibrations and shocks during the cargo transportation of high value-added goods, the vibration history was measured on the truck transportation section (Asan-Uiwang) and the freight train transportation section (Uiwang-Pusan). The internal vibrations of the container were obtained by attaching acceleration sensors in three axis directions (longitudinal, lateral. and vertical directions) on the front and rear bogies. The rail vibration profile (0.29Grms) proposed in ASTM D-4169 was approximately 50% higher than the truck vibration profile (0.54Grms). The overall vibration was 16% and 33 % lower in the longitudinal and transverse directions, respectively, compared to the ASTM truck transport vibration profile. On the other hand, the vertical vibration measurement history partially exceeded the ASTM truck transport vibration profile over the range, 4 - 15Hz, and over 60Hz. The vibration measurement history of the cargo train was similar to that of the road. The longitudinal and lateral vibration history was lower than the ASTM D-4169 rail vibration profile, while the vertical history was over 30Hz.

  • The objective is to compare with economic evaluation and to analysis the LCC for prestressed concrete used on rail bridge. A new style concrete bridge is difficult to estimate a history for maintenance cost reliably. For the reason, we introduce a analogical interpretation by similar bridge style in order to estimate a appropriate maintenance profile. The proposed method is usefully supplied to estimating the LCC for bridge which is difficult to determine the maintenance cost.

  • Corrugation of railway track can be caused by the various dynamic behaviors of traveling wheels and track. In this paper, the coupled vibrations of traveling wheel and railway track are analyzed as the cause of corrugations. To analyze the coupled vibration, the track supported by the sleepers and the traveling wheels are identified to the elastically supported infinite beam and the spring-mass system which runs at constant speed. The Hertzian contact spring is considered between the infinite beam and spring-mass system are calculated. The cause and development of rail corrugation are discussed in the view point of contact force fluctuation affected by the elastic supports and the corrugated surface profile on the track. By the obtained results, the possibilities of resonance are checked between the excitation by the corrugated surface profile and the natural frequency of contact spring-mass system. It may be thought to a development of railway corrugation.

  • The more sophisticated patterns of propagation model is presented in this paper, which includes three different source characteristics. The spherical, cosine and dipole radiation characteristics compared and sound event level and the maximum sound level are calculated by experiment and calculation. It is shown that patterns of propagation has dipole characteristics for low speed range(below about 150km/h) at electric multiple system. We know that push-pull high speed system(maximum speed: 300km/h) has cosine characteristics of noise propagation. For this purpose, We conduct the experiment of noise and know the empirical formula of noise level and radiation coefficient K. This model of simulation is conducted through point source array model at wheel/rail contact point by using program and experimental formula. We can guess prediction of profile, flat and wear of wheel by above modeling in near field.

  • In order to achieve systematical method for improving motion accuracy of hydrostatic table, an algorithm using finite element method is proposed in this paper. Quantification of averaging effect of oil film on motion error is performed theoretically by analysis on the relationship between spacial frequency of rail form error and motion error of table. Influences of film stiffness and pocket size on the motion error of table are also analyzed theoretically. Validity of the algorithm is verified experimentally from the test on the motion error of table with three types of rail which have different form profile. Experimental results show that the algorithm is very effective to analyze theoretically the motion error of hydrostatic table.

  • Effectiveness of a corrective machining algorithm, which can construct the proper machining information to improve motion errors utilizing measured motion errors, is verified experimentally in this paper, Corrective machining process is practically applied to single and double side hydrostatic bearing tables. Lapping process is applied as a machining method. The machining information is obtained from the measured motion errors by applying the algorithm, without any information on the rail profile. In the case of the single-side table, after 3 times of corrective remachining, linear and angular motion errors are improved up to 0.13 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and 1.40 arcsec from initial error of 1.04 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and 22.71 arcsec, respectively. In the case of the double-side table, linear and angular motion error are improved up to 0.07 /$\mu\textrm{m}$ and 1.42 arcsec from the initial error of 0.32 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and 4.14 arcsec. The practical machining process is performed by an unskilled person after he received a preliminary training in machining. Experimental results show that the corrective machining algorithm is very effective and easy to use to improve the accuracy of hydrostatic tables.
