레일 마모도의 측정 정밀도 향상을 위한 3차원 레일 프로파일 재구성 기법 개발 (Development of the 3D Rail Profile Reconstruction Method Improving the Measurement Accuracy of Railway Abrasion)

  • 2차원 카메라와 라인 레이저를 이용한 비접촉식 레일 마모도 측정 시스템은 레일의 정확한 마모도 측정을 위하여 레일에 조사된 레이저 영역을 왜곡 없이 획득하고 이를 레일 단면과 정확하게 일치시켜야 한다. 그러나 일반적인 비접촉식 레일 마모도 측정 시스템의 카메라는 레일의 측면에서 비스듬하게 레일을 촬영하여 사선방향(Oblique Viewpoint)의 원시영상을 획득하는 방식을 취하기 때문에 카메라 모델(Camera Model)과 투시 변환(Perspective Transform)을 이용하여 카메라로부터 획득한 원시영상이나 영상으로부터 추출된 레이저 영역의 좌표 데이터를 레일의 단면과 일치시키기 위한 영상 후처리 작업을 수행하게 된다. 이때 라인 레이저가 조사된 지점에서 획득한 레일 프로파일 데이터는 전체 측정 구간에 대하여 일정한 간격으로 측정된 불연속 데이터의 특성을 가지므로 측정된 각 레일 프로파일 데이터 사이의 영역에서는 정확한 레일의 마모도를 측정할 수 없는 한계를 가진다. 본 논문에서는 레일의 양방향에서 획득한 영상에 대하여 3차원 레일 프로파일 생성을 위한 변형된 카메라 모델과 투시 변환을 적용함으로서 레일 마모도의 측정 정밀도를 향상하기 위한 3차원 레일 프로파일 재구성 기법을 제안하고자 한다. 제안된 3차원 레일 프로파일 재구성 기법을 통하여 전체 측정 구간내에 포함된 레일 마모도 측정 데이터의 불연속성을 효과적으로 제거하여 연속적인 측정면(Measurement Surface)을 생성함으로서 측정하고자 하는 전체 레일에 대한 향상된 측정 정밀도를 제공하고자 한다.

레일이음매의 동적거동에 대한 연구 (A Study on the dynamic behavior of rail due to dipped joints)

  • When vehicle travelling along the track which has irregularity such as vertical profile, dynamic forces arise at the Wheel/Rail contact patch by wheel/rail interaction. In particular short wavelength irregularities on dipped joint and small stiffness of connecting rail bring about intense wheel/rail dynamic effects at higher speed. In the paper, a new model for dipped joint rail is developed to study dynamic behavior of track. A cusp behavior on dipped joint was defined by its amplitude and decay factor, which was presented by FRA track classes. The result of case study are presented, which show wheel rail contact force in each track classes, train operation speed and bending flexible rigidity ratio of fishplates which are connecting the rail.

  • Embedded rail track can be described as a track structure that is completely covered within pavement. Rail supported continually on a concrete slab or concrete plinth. There are many kinds of types such as non-resilient track and resilient track, super resilient embedded track (floating slab). Embedded rail track is generally the standard for light rail transit routes because this track has many advantages such as reducing noise, maintenance cost and weight of track. In this paper, decision of track profile is restricted by the optimum levels of the flangeway and the gap between the rail head and the pavement surface of depressing tread zone. By result of this study, embedded rail track can reduce corrosion of rail, internal stress and rail deflection.

유정압테이블의 정밀도향상을 위한 수정가공 알고리즘 (Corrective Machining Algorithm for Improving the Motion Accuracy of Hydrostatic Table)

  • For improving the motion accuracy of hydrostatic table, corrective machining algorithm is proposed in this paper. The algorithm consists of three main processes. reverse analysis is performed firstly to estimate rail profile from measured linear and angular motion error, in the algorithm. For the next step, corrective machining information is decided as referring to the estimating rail profile. Finally, motion errors on correctively machined rail are analized by using motion error analysis method proposed in the previous paper. These processes can be iterated until the analized motion errors are satisfied with target accuracy. In order to verify the validity of the algorithm theoretically, motion errors by the estimated rail, after corrective machining, are compared with motion errors by true rail assumed as the measured value. Estimated motion errors show good agreement with assumed values, and it is confirmed that the algorithm is effective to acquire the corrective machining information to improve the accuracy of hydrostatic table.

  • The railway vehicle consists of wires, bodies, bogies and wheelsets, and each part has very complex mechanism. In this paper, wheel-rail contact algorithm is implemented using C++ and inserted into the ODYN which is a dynamic analysis program. To analyze wheel-rail contact mechanism, information such as contact points, contact angle and rolling radius is calculated according to the wheel and rail profile. Using this information, a table for the calculation of the wheel-rail contact analysis is made according to the lateral displacement. And, the creepage and normal force are calculated and a creep force is estimated by the FASTSIM. To verify the reliability of the wheel-rail contact algorithm, results of the program are compared with the ADAMS/Rail and paper. Finally, a wheelset of the railway vehicle is modeled using ODYN and simulated static and dynamic analysis. And, to verify the reliability of the simulation results, a displacement, velocity, acceleration and force are compared with results of ADAMS/Rail.

Optimisation of Rolling Stock Wheelset Life through Better Understanding of Wheel Tyre Degradation

  • Since the 1990's the fleet of the Dutch Railways showed a dramatic decrease in wheel tyre life. This lifetime reduction led to an unacceptable increase in life cycle costs. Therefore Lloyd's Register Rail has proposed to NedTrain to investigate the possibilities of improving the wheel tyre life. Three improvements were determined as most promising and relatively easy to achieve: - Profile optimisation for Rolling Contact Fatigue (RCF) reduction - a new wheel profile has been developed with a better resistance against rolling contact fatigue of the wheel tread. The profile has been implemented on single deck intercity trains and shows an increase in wheel tyre life of 30%. - Selection of improved wheel tyre materials - combining information from literature and experiences of manufacturers five alternative wheel tyre materials have been selected and are now being tested in practice. - Optimisation of the maintenance strategy - an alternative, preventative maintenance regime has been developed. With this Scraping regime, during short term maintenance every wheel is reprofiled. Higher mileages are reached and savings on life cycle costs up to 50% and more have been achieved. Unplanned maintenance goes down with $30{\sim}60%$. The results from field tests, using a reference group for comparison, and preliminary results after implementation show that the increase in wheel tyre life that is achieved with this project is significant. The results will continue to be monitored using the asset management tool 'Wheel Watch', that was specially developed for this project and is also described in this paper.

  • In this paper, the results of an analysis of the dynamic behavior of the eddy current brake(ECB) system are presented. The measured irregularity of the track in Korean high speed line and the track irregularity given by ERRI(high level) were used for simulation. The wheel-rail profile combination were analyzed with different rail gauges. A model of the bogie with an substitute body fur the carbody was implemented in the Multi-Body-Simulation Program Simpack.   • The running safety of a railway vehicle depends on the design parameters and contact condition between wheel and rail. In this study, the effect of the conicity of wheel tread is analyzed using ADAMS/RAIL software on running situation. Modal analysis shows in 0.6 Hz natural frequency of lateral mode in fully arranged the KTX cars. The excessive vibration of the tail cars occurs in the 17th car as the speed and the stiffness of the secondary suspension increases, and especially for 1/40 conicity of the GV40 wheel. Also, the analysis shows that combination of wheel profile, GV40 for power cars and XP55 for passenger cars can reduce the lateral vibration of the tail cars.

  • This is a testing equipment system to analyze variation of creep force according to wheel-rail tread profile, running speed of vehicle, vertical and lateral force, wheel/rail contact point, attack angle and so on. The creep force affect vehicle derailment, especially climbing derailment. This system is composed of main frame, wheelset and rail disks driver, hydraulic actuator, controller, environmental chamber, safety system and so on.
