상용주파주의 LC공진을 이용한 단상고역률정류회로 (A single-phase high-power-factor rectifier using LC resonance in commercial frequenc)

  • For small capacity rectifier circuits such as these for consumer electronics and appliances. capacitor input type rectifier circuits are generally used Consequently. various harmonics generated within the power system become a serious Problem. Various studies of this effect have been presented previously. However. most of these employ switching devices, such as FETs and the like. The absence of switching devices makes systems more tolerant to over -load, and brings low radio noise benefits. We propose a power factor correction scheme using a LC resonant in commercial frequency without switching devices. In this method. It makes a sinusoidal wave by widening conduction period using the current resonance in commercial frequency. Hence, the harmonic characteristics can be significantly improved. where the lower order harmonics. such as the fifth and seventh orders are much reduced. The result are confirmed by the theoretical and expermental implementations.

  • 적응형 MMSE(Minimum Mean Square Error) 수신기는 고정된 채널 환경에서 기존의 단일 사용자 CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) 수신기에 비해 좋은 성능을 보이며 다른 다수 사용자 CDMA 수신기에 비해 간단한 구조를 가진다. 그러나 실제 무선 채널은 페이딩 채널이며, 수신신호의 크기와 위상이 시간에 따라 변하고 충분한 신호대 잡음 비가 항상 보장되지는 않는다. 이 경우 적응형 MMSE 수신기들은 그의 성능이 급격히 저하된다. 적응형 MMSE 수신기의 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여, 본 논문에서는 새로운 구조와 적응 알고리듬을 갖는 적응형 MMSE 수신기를 제안하였으며, 컴퓨터 모의 실험을 통하여 제안된 수신기가 페이딩 환경에서 기존의 MMSE 수신기들에 비해 좋은 성능을 가짐을 확인하였다.

Scheduling Methods for Multi-User Optical Wireless Asymmetrically-Clipped OFDM

  • Diffuse optical wireless (DOW) systems have the advantage that they do not require point-to-point siting so one transmitter can communicate with several receivers. In this paper, we investigate multiple access scheduling methods for downlink orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) in diffuse optical wireless networks. Unlike the radio frequency (RF) channel, the DOW channel has low-pass filter characteristics and so requires different scheduling methods than those developed for the RF channel. Multi-user diversity orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems nominate a cluster of subcarriers with the largest signal-to-noise-ratio for transmission. However, in a DOW channel, most users would choose the lowest frequency clusters of subcarriers. To remedy this problem, we make two proposals. The first is to use a variable cluster size across the subcarriers; the lower frequency clusters will have fewer subcarriers while the higher frequency clusters will have more subcarriers. This will equalize the capacity of the clusters. The second proposal is to randomize a user's cluster selection from a group of clusters satisfying a minimum threshold. Through simulation it is shown that combining these strategies can increase the throughput while ensuring a fair distribution of the available spectrum.

DDS을 이용한 FH / GMSK 시스템 (FH/GMSK System using DDS)

  • 주파수 호핑통신은 많은 장점이 있으나 주파수합성기나 동기회로 등이 복잡하기 때문에 간이형 통신 시스템에는 부적합 한 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 논문은 송신단에서 GMSK신호에 의해 변조된 주파수 호핑신호와 그보다 한 칩 지연된 주파수 호핑신호를 전송한 후, 수신단의 혼합기(Mixer) 출력단에서 신호를 둘로 나누어 직접 또는 지연시켜서 헤태로다인 상관기에 보내는 방법으로 동기회로를 줄일 수 있는 새로운 FH 시스템을 제안한다. 해석 및 실험을 통하여 이것이 가능함을 확인하였으며 915~929 MHz 주파수대에서 칩을(Chip rate)을 31개 로 하여 부가적인 백색 가우시안 잡음(Additive white gaussian noise) 전송 조건하에서 통신이 가능함을 확인하였다.

  • 역-솔레노이드 코일 형태를 이용한 핵자기공명용 내부영상 탐침을 제작하였다. 역-솔레노이드 탐침들로 획득된 영상의 신호-대-잡음비를 시제품 탐침인 머리코일과 몸통코일로 얻은 것들과 비교하였다. 내부영상에 관한한, 본 논문에서 제작된 역-솔레이노이드 탐침들이 위의 시제품 탐침들보다 향상된 기능성을 보였다. 그리고, 역-솔레노이드 탐침들이 형성하는 RF-자기장의 분포를 컴퓨터를 이용하여 계산하였다. 아울러, 본 논문에서 제작된 역-솔레노이드 탐침을 이용한 인체의 내부영상의 가능성에 대해서도 논의하였다.

Spectrum Sharing-Based Multi-Hop Decode-and-Forward Relay Networks under Interference Constraints: Performance Analysis and Relay Position Optimization

  • The exact closed-form expressions for outage probability and bit error rate of spectrum sharing-based multi-hop decode-and-forward (DF) relay networks in non-identical Rayleigh fading channels are derived. We also provide the approximate closed-form expression for the system ergodic capacity. Utilizing these tractable analytical formulas, we can study the impact of key network parameters on the performance of cognitive multi-hop relay networks under interference constraints. Using a linear network model, we derive an optimum relay position scheme by numerically solving an optimization problem of balancing average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of each hop. The numerical results show that the optimal scheme leads to SNR performance gains of more than 1 dB. All the analytical expressions are verified by Monte-Carlo simulations confirming the advantage of multihop DF relaying networks in cognitive environments.

Novel UWB Transceiver for WBAN Networks: A Study on AWGN Channels

  • A novel ultra-wideband (UWB) transceiver structure is presented to be used in wireless body area networks (WBANs). In the proposed structure, a data channel and a control channel are combined into a single transmission signal. In the signal, a modulation method mixing pulse position modulation and pulse amplitude modulation is proposed. A mathematical framework calculating the power spectrum density of the proposed pulse-based signal evaluates its coexistence with conventional radio systems. The transceiver structure is discussed, and the receiving performance is investigated in the additive white Gaussian noise channel. It is demonstrated that the proposed scheme is easier to match to the UWB emission mask than conventional UWB systems. The proposed scheme achieves the data rate requirement of WBAN; the logical control channel achieves better receiving performance than the logical data channel, which is useful for controlling and maintaining networks. The proposed scheme is also easy to implement.

Mobile Hotspot Network System for High-Speed Railway Communications Using Millimeter Waves

  • We propose a millimeter wave (MMW)-based mobile hotspot network (MHN) system for application in high-speed railways that is capable of supporting a peak backhaul link throughput of 1 Gbps per train at 400 km/h. The MHN system can be implemented in subways and high-speed trains to support passengers with smart devices and provide access to the Internet. The proposed system can overcome the inherent high path loss in MMW through system designs and high antenna gains. We present a simulation of the system performance that shows that a fixed beamforming strategy can provide high signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio similar to those of an adaptive beamforming strategy, with the exception of 15% of the train path in which the network can use link adaptation with low-order modulation formats or trigger a handover to maintain the connection. We also demonstrate the feasibility of the MHN system using a test bed deployed in Seoul subway line 8. The backhaul link throughput varies instantaneously between 200 Mbps and 500 Mbps depending on the SNR variations while the train is running. During the field trial, the smartphones used could make connections through offloading.

An Interference Analysis Method with Site-Specific Path Loss Model for Wireless Personal Area Network

  • In this paper, an interference analysis method with a site-specific path loss model for a wireless personal area network (WPAN) is proposed. The site-specific path loss model is based on geometrical optics and geometric probability to consider both site-specific radio propagation characteristics and a closed-form expression to obtain the mean interference from which the uniformly distributed multiple interferers are derived. Therefore, the proposed interference analysis method can achieve more computational simplicity than the Monte-Carlo (MC) simulation, which uses the ray-tracing (RT) technique. In addition, better accuracy than the conventional interference analysis model that uses stochastic method can also be achieved. To evaluate the proposed method, a signal to the interference-noise ratio with a mean interference concept for uniformly distributed interferers is calculated and compared in two simulation scenarios. As a result, the proposed method produces not only better matched results with the MC simulation using the RT technique than the conventional interference analysis model, but also simpler and faster calculation, which is due to the site-specific path loss model and closed-form expression for interference calculation.

KVN Performance Evaluation of Simultaneous 4CH Observations

  • It is important to know how well observation errors are removed in the calibration process prior to ensuing scientific research. In mm-VLBI observations, a radio wave suffers from an atmospheric propagation delay due to the rapid change of atmospheric refraction. It makes phases of VLBI correlation output fluctuate rapidly, which essentially decreases the coherence of phases and reduces the integration time. Consequently, it is challenging to achieve a high signal-to-noise ratio and enhance the quality of scientific output. Among the causes of the atmospheric propagation delay, water vapor in the troposphere is the most decisive factor to affect phase errors in the high frequency range (> 10GHz). It is expected to have the non-dispersive characteristic that enables to introduce new calibration strategy, Frequency Phase Transfer (FPT). This new method utilizes low frequency phases to compensate phase errors in high frequency bands. In addition, Korean VLBI Network (KVN) which benefits from the simultaneous 4-channels (22/43/86/129 GHz) observations is ideal to probe FPT performance. In order to evaluate FPT performance of KVN, we present the results of FPT phase analysis and discuss its performance.
