  • Recently, Cognitive radio (CR) has been focused for the effective utilization of the limited spectrum. Since an overlay CR system shares the given spectrum with the unlicensed system simultaneously, its spectral efficiency is high. However, most of the studies on an overlay CR system have been focused on the performance enhancement of the licensed receiver (LR). Correspondingly, the performance of the unlicensed receiver (UR) is degraded. Therefore, we propose an overlay CR NOMA system to improve the performance both of the LR and UR, which has a selected relay for the UR and adjusts the power allocation for the LR. The analytical performance of the proposed system is derived and verified the results through simulation. It is noticed that the UR can be obtained signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) gains by the selected relay, consequently, the system performance can be improved. Also, we show that the performance of the proposed system can be controlled by the number of the relays as well as the power allocation ratio. The results reveal that the required performance of the system can be satisfied with the use of the selected relay under the limited transmit power.

  • The article deals with the problems of application of microwave methods in systems of geoecological monitoring of natural environments and resources of the agro-industrial complex. It is noted that the methods of microwave radiometry make it possible, by the power of the measured intrinsic radio-thermal radiation of the atmosphere, when solving inverse problems using empirical and semi-empirical models, to determine such parameters of the atmosphere as thermodynamic temperature, humidity, water content, moisture content, precipitation intensity, and the presence of different fractions of clouds. In addition to assessing the meteorological parameters of the atmosphere and the geophysical parameters of the underlying surface based on the data of microwave radiometric measurements, it is possible to promptly detect and study pollution of both the atmosphere and the earth's surface. A technique has been developed for the analysis of sources of measurement error and their numerical evaluation, because they have a significant effect on the accuracy of solving inverse problems of reconstructing the values of the physical parameters of the probed media. To analyze the degree of influence of the limited spatial selectivity of the antenna of the microwave radiometric system on the measurement error, we calculated the relative measurement error of the ratio of radio brightness contrasts in two angular directions. It has been determined that in the system of geoecological monitoring of natural environments, the effect of background noise is maximal with small changes in the radiobrightness temperature during angular scanning and high sensitivity of the receiving equipment.

  • Lost packet robustness is an most important quality measure for voice over IP networks(VoIP). Recovery of the lost packet from the received information is crucial to realize this robustness. So, this paper proposes the lost packet recovery method from the received information for real-time communication for CELP coder. The proposed BS-PLC (Both Side Packet Loss Concealment) based WSOLA(Waveform Shift OverLab Add) allow the lost packet to be recovered from both the 'previous' and 'next' good packet as the LP parameter and the excitation signal are respectively recovered. The burst of packet loss is modeled by Gilbert model. The proposed scheme is applied to G.729 most used in VoIP and is evaluated through the SNR(signal to noise) and the MOS(Mean Opinion Score) test. As a simulation result, The proposed scheme provide 0.3 higher in Mean Opinion Score and 2 dB higher in terms of SNR than an error concealment procedure in the decoder of G.729 at $20\%$ average packet loss rate.

  • The revision of radio waves act, which took effect on July 1,2005, widened the bandwidth of PLC from $9kHz{\sim}450kHz$ to $9kHz{\sim}30MHz$. This high upper limit of frequency may cause the interference in HF wireless communications. From this point of view, the goal of this research is to suggest the estimation method of whether-or-not the interference occurs and furthermore offer countermeasures to avoid it hereafter. Ministry of Information and Communication Radio Research Laboratory(MIC-RRL)has been researching for the interference and devoting themselves to turn out how much it affects to HF wireless communications since the revision took effect. This research suggests some estimation methods with receivers, signal generators, or SINAD(Signal to Noise and Distortion) Meter which is so suitable for the RF environment that we can overcome the existing limit to the EMC environment. In addition, this research is focused on securing the environment for wireless communications by establishing the safety zone or suggesting the ways to prohibit the use of the bandwidth, which may cause serious interference, in order to minimize the effect of PLC on HF maritime mobile telecommunications.

  • This paper presents an improved scheme for detection of the physical broadcast channel (PBCH) in long-term evolution (LTE)-based fifth-generation (5G) multimedia broadcast and multicast services (MBMS) and 5G new radio (NR) for cellular broadcast. In the time domain, by combining the correlations between the received signal and primary synchronization signal (PSS) within all SS/PBCH blocks, the frame synchronization and the start position of the SS/PBCH blocks can be obtained. In this paper, to improve the detection performance of PBCH for 5G NR, a combining scheme of PBCH signals within a frame is proposed. In addition, the performance of the proposed detection scheme is evaluated and the performance is compared with the conventional scheme for PBCH detection of LTE-based 5G MBMS. The simulation results show that the detection performance of PBCH for 5G NR is improved by combining the PBCH signals and outperforms LTE-based 5G MBMS under the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), fixed, and mobile environments.

  • This paper proposes a low power capacitor cross-coupled 5.2 GHz band low noise amplifier(LNA) using the current-reused topology with the TSMC 0.18 ${\mu}m$ CMOS process. The proposed 5.2 GHz band LNA uses a capacitor cross-coupled $g_m$-boosting method for reducing current flow of circuit and a current-reused topology to decrease total power dissipation. The parallel LC networks are used to reduce size of spiral inductors. The simulation results show high gain of 17.4 dB and noise figure(NF) of 2.7 dB for 5.2 GHz.

  • Low-power long-range networks (LoRa) has a comprehensive coverage of up to 30 km, so that long-range positioning is possible. However, the position error in the current LoRa environment is over 500 m. This makes it difficult to use practical location services in the LoRa environment. In this paper, we propose a method to improve the position accuracy by correcting an inaccurate visual error when sending a signal from a mobile node to a gateway through the reference node of each zone in the LoRa environment. Experiments were carried out using MATLAB, and a radio propagation algorithm, the Hata model, was used to cancel out the stationary noise and to evaluate the environmental noise. Experimental results showed that the error range decreased as the number of reference nodes increased and a mobile node approach the reference node.

  • We estimate the power spectra of the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB) temperature anisotropy in localized regions of the sky using the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) 7-year data. We find that the north and south hat regions at high Galactic latitude ($|b|{\geq}30^{\circ}C$) show an anomaly in the power spectrum amplitude around the third peak, which is statistically significant up to 3. We try to explain the cause of the observed anomaly by analyzing the low Galactic latitude ($|b|$ < $30^{\circ}C$) regions where the galaxy contamination is expected to be stronger, and the regions weakly or strongly dominated byWMAP instrument noise. We also consider the possible effect of unresolved radio point sources. We find another but less statistically significant anomaly in the low Galactic latitude north and south regions whose behavior is opposite to the one at high latitude. Our analysis shows that the observed north-south anomaly at high latitude becomes weaker on regions with high number of observations (weak instrument noise), suggesting that the anomaly is significant at sky regions that are dominated by the WMAP instrument noise. We have checked that the observed north-south anomaly has weak dependences on the bin-width used in the power spectrum estimation, and on the Galactic latitude cut. We also discuss the possibility that the detected anomaly may hinge on the particular choice of the multipole bin around the third peak. We anticipate that the issue of whether or not the anomaly is intrinsic one or due to WMAP instrument noise will be resolved by the forthcoming Planck data.

  • The interaction of magnetic field in the frequency range of 9~150 kHz radiating from a railway system with wireless systems has been the cause of radio frequency interference. In this paper, the equivalent circuit model of the RFI noise is proposed through source and transfer path analysis, and it is confirmed that the switching noise of several kHz that occurs a vehicle traction drive system and a substation is radiated by forming the loop circuit with a feeder line by a rolling stock. And the validity of the proposed equivalent circuit model is verified by analyzing the effects of RC banks installed in the real railway between Guri and Guksu stations, the RFI noise can be effectively mitigated by loading suitable capacitance between rail and feeding line.

  • In this paper, we studied about the radiated emission of EFT(Electrical Fast Transient)/Burst signal, referenced IEC-61000-4-4 of the international EMC standard and its effect on EUT(Equipment Under the Test) when EFT/Burst signal (Conducted noise) induced on a power cable to EUT. Firstly, we set up test sample by the standard and +4 kV standard signal is induced by EFT/Burst signal generator with 1 m length power cable for 1 minute. Consequently, we found not only induced EFT/Burst signal along power line, but also directly radiated emission signal from EFT/Burst signal generator (Radiated emission noise of EFT/Burst). The radiated emission signal of EFT/Burst was 30 dB which is higher than limit of CISPR 22 which is international EMC standard. Moreover, we measured the electric field strength by changing distance from maximum radiated emission point to electric field strength tester. As a result, this electric field strength was 23 V/m which is higher than international EMC standard test level(CISPR 24). Therefore, it was confirmed that the probability of malfunction may be high when radiated emission of EFT/Burst noise exists near the EUT.
