In the near future, it is expected that there will be billions of connected devices using fifth generation (5G) network services. The recently available base stations (BSs) need to mitigate their loads without changing and at the least monetary cost. The available spectrum resources are limited and need to be exploited in an efficient way to meet the ever-increasing demand for services. Device to Device communication (D2D) technology will likely help satisfy the rapidly increasing capacity and also effectively offload traffic from the BS by distributing the transmission between D2D users from one side and the cellular users and the BS from the other side. In this paper, we propose to apply D2D overlay communication with cognitive radio capability in 5G networks to exploit unused spectrum resources taking into account the dynamic spectrum access. The performance metrics; throughput and delay are formulated and analyzed for CSMA-based medium access control (MAC) protocol that utilizes a common control channel for device users to negotiate the data channel and address the contention between those users. Device users can exploit the cognitive radio to access the data channels concurrently in the common interference area. Estimating the achievable throughput and delay in D2D communication in 5G networks is not exploited in previous studies using cognitive radio with CSMA-based MAC protocol to address the contention. From performance analysis, applying cognitive radio capability in D2D communication and allocating a common control channel for device users effectively improve the total aggregated network throughput by more than 60% compared to the individual D2D throughput without adding harmful interference to cellular network users. This approach can also reduce the delay.

In this paper, the transmission structure and procedure of a random access channel for the IMT-2000 satellite radio specification are presented. The proposed random access method has much commonality with that of the 3GPP FD specification which is a terrestrial radio interface of IMT-2000. The proposed method was designed by considering characteristics of satellite link as we71 as the commonality with the terrestrial component. A preamble consists of sub-preamble repetition and a message is transmitted along with the preamble successively. The propose method has fast indication of preamble acquisition by physical layer. The proposed method has been included in the SAT-CDMA which is a radio transmission technology Proposed by TTA, KOREA and approved as a satellite radio interface at ITU-R. Additionally, in this Paper the signaling delay for the proposed random access channel will be analyzed and it will be compared to that of the random access methods using a conventional ALOHA procedure and the 3GPP procedure in aspect of the signaling delay. When the SAT-CDMA satellite constellation at the height of about 1600 km is considered, the delay of the proposed method was estimated to 100 ms less than that of the conventional ALOHA. This delay difference increases with 7he number of retransmissions. The delay is reduced by 30 ms, compared with the 3GPP method.

As mobile traffic is growing, the demand for spectrum is increasing but the deficiency of spectrum becomes serious as the supply is restricted essentially. For resolving the issue, spectrum sharing system is discussed from the technical and regulatory point of view, where multiple radio users occupy same frequency. In this paper, the policies and adoptions of spectrum sharing system in some countries are analyzed with a focus on TV white space and licensed shared access, which are based on unlicensed and licensed spectrum usage respectively. Some legal and regulatory plans to adopt and activate spectrum sharing in the Radio Waves Act system of Korea are proposed as well.
Carrier aggregation is an essential feature in the Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) system, which allows the scalable expansion of the effective bandwidth to be delivered to user equipment (UE) through the concurrent use of radio resources across multiple component carriers (CCs). This system's optimal radio-resource use has received much attention under simultaneous access (SA) scenarios for multiple CCs (m-CCs). This letter establishes how many CCs a UE should simultaneously connect to maintain maximum uplink capacity. Under the m-CC LTE-A system, the spectral efficiency of the m-CC SA scheme ($m{\geq}2$) is compared with that of CC selection (CCS). Numerical results reveal that the 2-CC SA scheme outperforms CCS and performs almost equally to the m-CC SA scheme ($m{\geq}3$).
In this paper, downlink capacity of time duplex division (TDD) based cellular wireless networks utilizing fixed hopping stations is investigated. In the network, a number of fixed subscriber stations act as hopping transmission stations between base stations and far away subscribers, forming a cellular and ad hoc mobile network model. At the radio layer, TDD code division multiple access (CDMA) is selected as the radio interface due to high efficiency of frequency usage. In order to improve the system performance in terms of downlink capacity, we propose different time slot allocation schemes with the usage of fixed hopping stations, which can be selected by either random or distanced dependent schemes. Performance results obtained by computer simulation demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed network to improve downlink system capacity.

Generally, flight information is transmitted by voice signal over legacy UHF radio in ground to air communication system. In this paper, we have implemented the transceiver of TDL(tactical data link) which transmits tactical information, such as flight information, using digital signal. For transmitting digital information over radio path, we have designed data modem that is processing CPFSK modulation, and TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access) network for Synchronization among multi user(platform). By simulating aeronautical propagation modeling with the environment of Korea terrain, it is predicted the maximum performance of communication range of the transceiver. As result of the transceiver's aviational boarding test, it is proved that the transceiver of TDL over legacy UHF radio transmits and receives the tactical information in TDMA network within communication range of 160km.
The advent of Third Generation (3G) communication systems, with their ability to process real-time multimedia applications and their large bandwidths, will greatly enhance mobile Internet access. Not only does Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) and cdma2000 radio technology offer an advantageous density for voice in terms of spectral efficiency, it also supports higher rates and offers differentiated levels of duality of Service (QoS) for data applications. The early introduction of packet and multimedia technologies will be a key element in realizing a quick and successful return on the operator's investments in Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) and cdma2000.

In cognitive radio networks (CRNs), hybrid overlay and underlay sharing transmission mode is an effective technique for improving the efficiency of radio spectrum. Unlike existing works in the literature, where only one secondary user (SU) uses overlay and underlay modes, the different transmission modes should be allocated to different SUs, according to their different quality of services (QoS), to achieve the maximal efficiency of radio spectrum. However, hybrid sharing mode allocation for heterogeneous services is still a challenge in CRNs. In this paper, we propose a new resource allocation method for hybrid sharing transmission mode of overlay and underlay (HySOU), to achieve more potential resources for SUs to access the spectrum without interfering with the primary users. We formulate the HySOU resource allocation as a mixed-integer programming problem to optimize the total system throughput, satisfying heterogeneous QoS. To decrease the algorithm complexity, we divide the problem into two sub-problems: subchannel allocation and power allocation. Cutset is used to achieve the optimal subchannel allocation, and the optimal power allocation is obtained by Lagrangian dual function decomposition and subgradient algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm further improves spectrum utilization with a simultaneous fairness guarantee, and the achieved HySOU diversity gain is a satisfactory improvement.
Spectrum sensing is an essential function that enables cognitive radio technology to explore spectral holes and resourcefully access them without any harmful interference to the licenses user. Spectrum sensing done by a single node is highly affected by fading and shadowing. Thus, to overcome this, cooperative spectrum sensing was introduced. Currently, the advancements in multiple antennas have given a new dimension to cognitive radio research. In this paper, we propose a multiple energy detector for cooperative spectrum sensing schemes based on the evidence theory. Also, we propose a reporting mechanism for multiple energy detectors. With our proposed system, we show that a multiple energy detector using a cooperative spectrum sensing scheme based on evidence theory increases the reliability of the system, which ultimately increases the spectrum sensing and reduces the reporting time. Also in simulation results, we show the probability of error for the proposed system. Our simulation results show that our proposed system outperforms the conventional energy detector system.

Time division multiple access (TDMA) is a widely used media access control (MAC) technique that can provide collision-free and reliable communications, save energy and bound the delay of packets. In TDMA, energy saving is usually achieved by switching the nodes' radio off when such nodes are not engaged. However, the frequent switching of the radio's state not only wastes energy, but also increases end-to-end delay. To achieve high energy efficiency and low delay, as well as to further minimize the number of time slots, a multi-objective TDMA scheduling problem for industrial wireless mesh networks is presented. A hybrid algorithm that combines genetic algorithm (GA) and simulated annealing (SA) algorithm is then proposed to solve the TDMA scheduling problem effectively. A number of critical techniques are also adopted to reduce energy consumption and to shorten end-to-end delay further. Simulation results with different kinds of networks demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms traditional scheduling algorithms in terms of addressing the problems of energy consumption and end-to-end delay, thus satisfying the demands of industrial wireless mesh networks.
