This study attempts to shed light on the coupled impact of types of loading, thickness stretching, and types of variation of Winkler-Pasternak foundations on the flexural behavior of simply- supported FG plates according to the new quasi-3D high order shear deformation theory, including integral terms. A new function sheep is used in the present work. In particular, both Winkler and Pasternak layers are non-uniform and vary along the plate length direction. In addition, the interaction between the loading type and the variation of Winkler-Pasternak foundation parameters is considered and involved in the governing equilibrium equations. Using the virtual displacement principle and Navier's solution technique, the numerical results of non-dimensional stresses and displacements are computed. Finally, the non-dimensional formulas' results are validated with the existing literature, and excellent agreement is detected between the results. More importantly, several complementary parametric studies with the effect of various geometric and material factors are examined. The present analytical model is suitable for investigating the bending of simply-supported FGM plates for special technical engineering applications.

In this paper, we present the radio-frequency (RF) modeling for gate-all-around (GAA) junctionless (JL) MOSFETs with 30-nm channel length. The presented non-quasi-static (NQS) model has included the gate-bias-dependent components of the source and drain (S/D) resistances. RF characteristics of GAA junctionless MOSFETs have been obtained by 3-dimensional (3D) device simulation up to 1 THz. The modeling results were verified under bias conditions of linear region (VGS = 1 V, VDS = 0.5 V) and saturation region (VGS = VDS = 1 V). Under these conditions, the root-mean-square (RMS) modeling error of $Y_{22}$-parameters was calculated to be below 2.4%, which was reduced from a previous NQS modeling error of 10.2%.
This paper presents a high-speed performance analysis of ball bearings with ceramic balls under thrust loads. The sliding velocity profiles between a ball and raceways were obtained by the 3-D quasi-dynamic equations of motion including both centrifugal force and gyroscopic moment derived by vector matrix algebra. The friction at the contact areas was obtained by the Bair-Winer's non-Newtonian rheological model and the Hamrock-Dowson's central film thickness in EHL analysis. The nonlinear equations were solved by the Newton-Raphson method and the underrelaxation iterative method. The friction torques and ball behaviors with various loads, ball materials, and contact angles were predicted by this model. It was shown that the friction torque was sensitive to thrust load and contact angle, and that the friction torque and the pitch angle of the bearing with ceramic balls are smaller than those of the bearing with steel balls.
The present paper summarizes the experimental research carried out at the "Politehnica" University of Timisoara, Romania, with the scope of investigating the influence of different column web stiffening solutions on the performance of beam-to-column joints of Moment Resisting Steel Frames. The response parameters, such as resistance, rigidity and ductility were examined. Five different types of panel web stiffening were compared with regard to a reference test. A quasi-linear relationship between the moment capacity and the total shear area of the web panel was observed from the experimental tests while the initial rigidity increased non-proportionally with the same area. Comparisons are presented of the experimental tests with the mathematical model developed by Krawinkler and with the model stipulated in Eurocode 3 Part 1.8. These comparisons showed a generally good agreement in the case of moment capacity, while the computed rigidities were always greater than the experimental rigidities.

In this paper, a refined higher-order shear deformation theory including the stretching effect is developed for the analysis of bending analysis of the simply supported functionally graded (FG) sandwich plates resting on elastic foundation. This theory has only five unknowns, which is even less than the other shear and normal deformation theories. The theory presented is variationally consistent, without the shear correction factor. The present one has a new displacement field which introduces undetermined integral variables. Equations of motion are obtained by utilizing the Hamilton's principles and solved via Navier's procedure. The convergence and the validation of the proposed theoretical numerical model are performed to demonstrate the efficacy of the model.
In this paper, an effective numerical analysis method is proposed for calculating dosimetry of the wireless power transfer system operating low-frequency ranges. The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is widely used to analyze bio-electromagnetic field problems, which require high resolution, such as a heterogeneous whole-body voxel human model. However, applying the standard method in the low-frequency band incurs an inordinate number of time steps. We overcome this problem by proposing a modified finite-difference time-domain method which utilizes a quasi-static approximation with the surface equivalence theorem. The analysis results of the simple model by using proposed method are in good agreement with those from a commercial electromagnetic simulator. A simulation of the induced electric fields in a human head voxel model exposed to a wireless power transmission system provides a realistic example of an application of the proposed method. The simulation results of the realistic human model with the proposed method are verified by comparing it with the conventional FDTD method.
This paper investigates the effect of micromechanical models on the bending behavior of bidirectional functionally graded (BDFG) beams subjected to different mechanical loading. The material properties of the beam are considered to be graded in both axial and thickness directions according to a power law. The beam's behavior is modeled by the mean of quasi 3D displacement field that contain undetermined integral terms and involves a reduced unknown functions. Navier's method is employed to determine and compute the displacements and stress for a simply supported beam. Different homogenization schemes such as Voigt, Reus, and Mori-Tanaka are employed to analyze the response of the BDFG beam subjected to linear, uniform, exponential and sinusoidal distributed loading. The results obtained by the present method are compared with available results in the literature and a good agreement was found. Several numerical results are presented in tabular form and in figures to examine the effects of the material gradation, micromechanical models and types of loading on the bending response of BDFG beams. It can be concluded that the present theory is not only accurate but also simple in predicting the bending response of BDFG beam subjected to different static loads.

This work applies a four-known quasi-3D shear deformation theory to investigate the bending behavior of a functionally graded plate resting on a viscoelastic foundation and subjected to hygro-thermo-mechanical loading. The theory utilizes a hyperbolic shape function to predict the transverse shear stress, and the transverse stretching effect of the plate is considered. The principle of virtual displacement is applied to obtain the governing differential equations, and the Navier method, which comprises an exponential term, is used to obtain the solution. Novel to the current study, the impact of the viscoelastic foundation model, which includes a time-dependent viscosity parameter in addition to Winkler's and Pasternak parameters, is carefully investigated. Numerical examples are presented to validate the theory. A parametric study is conducted to study the effect of the damping coefficient, the linear and nonlinear loadings, the power-law index, and the plate width-tothickness ratio on the plate bending response. The results show that the presence of the viscoelastic foundation causes an 18% decrease in the plate deflection and about a 10% increase in transverse shear stresses under both linear and nonlinear loading conditions. Additionally, nonlinear loading causes a one-and-a-half times increase in horizontal stresses and a nearly two-times increase in normal transverse stresses compared to linear loading. Based on the article's findings, it can be concluded that the viscosity effect plays a significant role in the bending response of plates in hygrothermal environments. Hence it shall be considered in the design.

The adsorption of CO on W(111) surface in the range of adsorption temperature between 300 K and 1000 K has been studied using AES, LEED, and TDS in an UHV system. After CO saturation at 300 K, four desorption peaks are observed at temperatures (K) of about 400, 850, 1000, and 1100 in thermal desorption spectra, called as α, β1, β2, and β3 state, respectively. The state was attributed to molecular species of CO, which is well known. Because the CO in βstates (especially the β3 state) is still debated as to whether it is dissociative or non-dissociative, the β3 state is mainly discussed. By using the variation method of heating rate in the thermal desorption spectrometry, the desorption energy and pre-exponential factor for the β3 state are evaluated to be 280 kJ/mol and 1.5×10 12 s-1 , respectively. A lateral interaction energy of 5.7 kJ/mol can also be estimated by Bragg-Williams approximation. To interpret the thermal desorption spectra for the β3 state, moreover, those for the model of a first order and a second order desorption are simulated using quasi-chemical approximation. In this study, a model of lying-down CO species is proposed for the β3 state of CO adsorption.

This study presents a numerical simulation model of vertical ground heat exchangers, considering unsaturated hydro static ground conditions induced by the ground water table fluctuation. Heat transfer in ground and grout is modeled by a 3-D FEM transient conductive heat transfer model, where heat transfer between circulating fluid and heat exchanging pipe is treated as 1-D quasi steady state forced convective elements. To take into account the unsaturated ground condition, soil thermal conductivity and heat capacity which are dependent on the matric suction are applied to ground elements. Parametric studies considering various ground water table conditions are conducted to investigate the influence of unsaturated hydro static ground condition on the mean heat exchange rate of ground heat exchanger. Simulation results considering water table fluctuation show 60~100% of mean heat exchange rate for a saturated soil condition and 125~208% of that for a dry soil condition. Thus consideration of unsaturated soil condition is substantially recommended for more accurate design and performance evaluation for ground heat exchangers.
