  • During 20 days from November 4 to 28, 1980, the quantities of grease and oil, BOD (biological oxygen demand), COD (chemical oxygen demand), SS (suspended solid) were measured at Grit Chamber, Primary Sedimentation Tank, Secondary Sedimentation Tank in Chung Gye Chun sewage treatment plant. The results were as follows. 1. The average of grease and oil quantities were 251mg/l at Grit Chamber, 185mg/l at Primary Sedimentation Tank, 47mg/l at Secondary Sedimentation Tank. 2. In the secondary treatment for the removal of grease and oil, the removed quantities of grease and oil were increased according to increasing the quantities of influent grease and oil. The regression equation were as follows G.O.removed=0.731 G.O. influent+3.235 (r=0.887) 3. The average of grease and oil removal rate was 76.4% and the standard deviation of grease and oil removal rate daily was 10.6%. 4. G.O. (grease and oil) and BOD, COD, SS showed significant correlationship at Grit Chamber, Primary Sedimentation Tank, Secondary Sedimentation Tank. (P<0.05). 5. In the secondary treatment, effluent grease & oil and other parameters were analyzed by means of Stepwise multiple regression. Multple regression equation for estimates of effluent grease and oil were as follows. $GO_E=-9.1637+2.0380 SS_E+0.068 SS_I$ (r=0.778) 6. The correlative parameters for the effluent grease and oil seem to be the influent SS and the effluent SS. 7. It was estimated that the removal of grease and oil would be improved by means of improvement of suspended solids removal efficiency but it is necessary to inquire further into the study.

  • After being introduced, Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been actively applied to the cost estimation of construction projects, and various studies on BIM based quantity take-off have been carried out. In practice, however, these calculations take considerable time, because BIM based quantity take-off is further conducted along with 2D-based quantity take-off. Studies on the quantity take-off using BIM spatial objects have been carried out on early stages of projects, but how this method differs from the existing quantity take-off method and how accurate it is in comparison have rarely been verified. Therefore, by comparing 2D based quantities with quantities through BIM spatial objects, this study analyzed the accuracy of quantity take-off using BIM spatial objects. To this end, the properties of BIM spatial objects and quantity calculable spatial types were analyzed, and existing 2D-based quantities and quantities extracted from BIM spatial objects were compared through a case study. As a result, the quantity of spatial objects found to be more by about 7.13% in 0.05% and therefore, this difference should be considered during quantity take-off using BIM spatial objects. Through the results of this study, we can improve the accuracy of quantity take-off using BIM spatial objects in the early stage of a construction project.

  • The object of this study is to investigate influences of supplied lubricant quantities on spur gear's pitting life. Pitting is a sort of contact fatigue failures and made by a repetitive load. Basically, pitting is difficult to predict its life by an analysis due to many factors to be considered about tribology problems. In this paper, pitting life was proved by experiment using two roller machine. For a contact fatigue test, operating circumstances should be considered. During the test, temperature and lubricant quantities are considered and to investigate an influence of lubricant quantities, a comparison between optimally enough and not enough lubricant quantity was implemented.

  • A simplified algorithm is proposed for fast estimation of the material quantities required for the construction of rubble-mound breakwaters. The proposed algorithm is able to employ only the data available at feasibility study phase such as the maximum draught of the design ship selected to transport the cargos to the harbor despite, because at the feasibility phase, information for the planned harbor is likely to be very limited. A linear-constant waterdepth model together with a proposed section configuration for the breakwaters, which is customary for harbors, is considered to calculate the quantity of materials. The numerical simulation of the wave characteristics has been verified using the recorded wave data collected by a buoy installed near the Neka harbor in Caspian Sea waters. A case study has been also applied to four harbors to validate the proposed algorithm. The estimated weights using the proposed linear-constant and multi-linear waterdepth models were compared using the bathymetry maps and layouts of these harbors. A computer program, written in QBasic language, has been developed to simulate the wave characteristics and to estimate the material quantities needed to construct a rubble-mound breakwater. The obtained results show that taking into account the acceptable accuracies normally applied to the feasibility study and conceptual design phases, the proposed algorithm is sufficiently accurate and highly effective for the conceptual estimation of materials' quantities of breakwaters in the feasibility study phase of harbor projects.

  • In this study, we have developed a calculation system for BIM-based quantities, 4D process, and 5D construction costs, by integrating object shape attributes and the standard classification system which consist of Cost Breakdown System(CBS), Object Breakdown System(OBS) and Work Breakdown System(WBS) in order to use for the 4 dimensional process control of roads and rivers. First, a new BIM library database connected with the BIM library shape objects was built according to the CBS/OBS/WBS standard classification system of the civil engineering field, and a integrated database system of BIM-based quantities, process(4D), and construction costs(5D) for roads and rivers was constructed. Nextly, the process classification system and the cost classification system were automatically disassembled to the BIM objects consisting of the Revit-family style elements. Finally, we added functions for automatically generating four dimensional activities and generating a automatic cost statement according to the combination of WBS and CBS classification system The ultimate goal of this study was to extend the integrated quantities, process(4D), and construction costs(5D) system for new roads and rivers, enabling the integrated use of process(4D) and construction costs(5D) in the design and construction stage, based on the tasks described above.

  • In this study, we investigated middle school student' ability in estimating order of magnitude of physical quantities. Participants were 448 students of seventh grades and ninth graders in Seoul area. A multiple-choice typed questionnaire was designed for estimating five physical quantities such as length, mass, speed, volume, and density. The answers were analyzed through dimension of quantity, size of object, students' grade and their gender. In the results, more than two thirds of all participants chose the right order of magnitude in estimating length, but only around a quarter of them did so in estimating density. They had a tendency to show lower ability when they estimated order of magnitude of more complex dimensioned quantity. Moreover, students' answers had relatively wide distribution in estimating smaller sized objects. Through there was no big difference between seventh graders and ninth graders in estimation, male students where better in estimating base quantities, especially in length. However, more than half of participants did not choose the right order of magnitude in total and it showed their lack of qualitative understanding about these physical quantities and meaningless usage of unit in measuring.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze present the pattern making of the lining fabrics calculating the right ease and rising quantities of arm-hole when the pattern of the lining fabrics of stretchable jacket fabrics is produced. The outcomes of this study are as follows. The right ease of lining fabrics was not room of 0cm as patterns being same the right side of fabrics in the girth of the chest, waist, and the edge of a garment and gets the most excellent valuation, and then the girth of the chest, and waist was applied to 2cm and around the edge of a garment 0cm in regular lining fabrics. In addition to, although the ease of patterns of the lining fabrics was more, it was not necessarily to satisfy. The result of the valuation according to the quantities of rising arm-hole of the pattern of the lining fabrics showed that the making lining fabrics that the quantities of rising arm-hole was 0.8cm in the body and 1.2cm in the sleeve in the both the stretchable fabrics and regular lining fabrics was the most excellent thing, and then 0cm in the body and 2cm in the sleeve, and then 0cm in the body and 0cm in the sleeve. The valuation of external appearance on the quantities of rising arm-hole was recognized similarly because of being rarely significance level, but around the chest and waist was recognized as being significance level in wearing satisfaction.

  • Large quantities of high-quality recipient oocytes with uniform cytoplasm are needed for research in the promising field of somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) and embryonic stem cell research. In canines, however, it is difficult to obtain large quantities of oocytes because each donor produces a limited number of mature oocytes in vivo. Although in vitro maturation (IVM) is considered an alternative approach to oocyte production, this technique is still too rudimentary to be used for the production of highquality, uniform oocytes in large quantities. One technique for overcoming this difficulty is to use oocytes obtained from different species. This technique is known as interspecies SCNT (iSCNT). This review provides an overview of recent advances in canine - porcine interspecies SCNT.

  • HVDC protection setting is difficult to be calculated analytically because of its strong nonlinearity. The currently used setting method is based on the empirical setting of previous projects and then verified by digital simulation. It entails a huge workload and low efficiency. To facilitate protection setting, this paper systematically summarizes the HVDC protection characteristics and then presents a classification of HVDC protections according to the protection principles. On the basis of the fault quantities, a novel setting procedure suitable for travelling wave protection, derivative and level protection, and differential protection is proposed. The proposed procedure is illustrated and verified in detail with the example of travelling wave protection. An HVDC protection setting system that has the functions of automatic protection setting and data management is developed utilizing the C# programming language.
