시각과 청각 자극에 의한 감성정보의 연관성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Correlation between Visual and Auditory Emotion)

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate human sensibility quantitatively under color and music stimulation and to examine the correlation between visual and auditory emotion. We measured biological signals such as EEG, ECG, skin conductance and the number of respiration in order to compare color with music sensibilities. Our result showed that red, yellow and violet color provoked active and exciting senses dominatively as dance, rock and blues music. While blue, cyan and pink color were involved in tranquil and resting emotions deeply as classic and ballade music. Our quantitative estimations of human sensibilites are useful in the design of manufactured goods.

Similarity Analysis of Chemical Profiles of Scrophularia buergeriana Based on HPLC-DAD

  • A new approach for similarity analysis of chemical profiles of Scrophularia buergeriana was developed. The roots of S. buergeriana collected in Andong, Korea were analyzed using HPLC-DAD and the peak areas of the chromatograms were used to construct the chemical profiles of S. buergeriana. The analytical conditions were validated for specificity, precision and repeatability. The standard chemical profiles were established from the chromatograms of nine standard analytical extracts from three batches. The correlation coefficients of peak areas of characteristic compounds between the chromatograms of the standard and test samples were calculated for quantitative expression of the chemical profiles. The results showed that the HPLC chemical profiles of the samples of same geographic origin were relatively consistent. This new approach could be applied to the quality assessment of herbal medicines with complex chemical compositions.

CoMFA Based Quantitative Structure Toxicity Relationship of Azo Dyes

  • Studies of relationship between structure and toxicity of azo dyes have been performed with comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) techniques. 3D QSTR analyses indicate that the steric and electrostatic interactions are important. The steric field based model gives strong correlation ($q^2$=0.57, $r^2$= 0.92). The steric field in conjunction with electrostatic field give more strong correlation ($q^2$=0.57, $r^2$=0.95). All study indicates that a bulky and electronegative group at benzene ring and a small group at position 3 of aniline ring might be significant to reduce the mutagenicity.

물의 미네랄 함량과 커피 관능 특성에 관한 상관 분석 (Analysis of Correlations between Mineral Contents in Waters and Sensory Characteristics of Coffee)

  • Water is an essential ingredient to brew coffee. Mineral contents in the water can affect both water quality and taste quality of coffee. The effects of minerals in the water on sensory characteristics of coffee were investigated in different water samples (A: Arisu, B: Claris, C: Spring water, D: Samdasoo, E: Evian, Distilled water as control). Based on the results of quantitative descriptive analysis (QDA), there were statistically significant (p<0.01) in flavor, acidity, bitterness, sweetness, body and aftertaste according to different water samples used to brew coffee. The canonical correlation analysis of minerals (Ca, Mg, Na, K) and taste (acidity, bitterness, sweetness) indicated that there were highly correlated in the relationship between bitterness and Mg content. A strong negative relationship was shown between bitterness and acidity, sweetness. A result of preference test using hedonic scale showed an inverse linear relationship between taste quality and total mineral contents.

  • Ultrasound Doppler Diagnostic System utilizes the Doppler effect for measurement of blood velocity. The sign of the Doppler frequency shift represents blood flow direction. Pulsed Doppler System uses Phase detector and zerocrossing method to produce simultaneous independent audio and velocity signals for forward and reverse blood flow direction in the time domain, had been fabricated. But time-domain analyzing such as audio evaluation and zerocrossing detection for instantaneous and mean frequency measurement doesn't, provide both an accurate and quantitative result. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt frequency domain technique to improve system performance. In this paper, we describe a unit which is composed of Pulsed Doppler System and real-time spectrum analyzer (installed TMS 32010 DSP Chip). This unit shows time-dependent spectrum variation and mean velocity of blood Signal.

뇌성마비 아동에 대한 대운동 기능검사의 신뢰도 분석 (The Reliability Analysis of the Gross Motor Function Measure in Children with Cerebral Palsy)

  • The purpose of this studied was to examine the reliability analysis of the GMFM in children with C.P. The subject of this study were 40 C. P patient who had been hospitalized Department of Sam-Yook Rehabilitation Hospital. Subjects were 28 boys and girls, aged 6 to 8 years. Reliability of each dimension of the GMFM were analyzed using Cronbach coefficients and to examine the intra-rater reliability were using Pearson correlation coefficients. The result of reliability analysis of the GMFM revealed higher reliability values. The reliability of the total dimension score was 95. Test-retest revealed intra-rater correlation coefficients from .71 to .98. The study presents that GMFM is useful in assessment of function of children with C. P by the quantitative description of the function.

  • The correlation coefficients among hepatic extraction fraction(HEF), DISIDA-K, and ICG Rmax methods were found using two normal rabbits and four rabbits with damaged liver. The correlation coefficient between HEF and ICG R-max which is a standard technique in evaluating liver function was found to be 0.93. Therefore HEF is a valuable diagnostic method since it is not only accurate, but possible to estimate remaining liver function after surgical of cancerous hepatic tissue.

GMS 영상자료와 관측강수량 자료의 비교 (An intercomparison of GMS image data and observed rainfall data)

  • The purpose of this study is to find the relationship between GMS image data and hourly observed rainfalls data. Heavy rainfall cases over South Korea on 10th September 1990 and on 29th July 1993 were selected for studying of the relationship between the image data and reinfalls. First, image data were converted to TBB(Temperature of Black Body) and albedo and then these values were extracted for the pixels closest to the surface observation station to correlate with the rainfall data. Horizontal distribution of TBB and albedo tells roughly rainfall regions. The correlation between rainfall and TBB is found to be very low in quantitative analysis. The weak relationship between the brighter albedo and the higher rainfall probability is observed. This study suggests that the TBB values are useful in classifying rain areas and for heavy rainfalls the albedo values are more useful than the TBB. Low linear correlation between the fields may be attributed to the neglect of cloud types in this study.

Comparative Molecular Field Analysis of Pyrrolopyrimidines as LRRK2 Kinase Inhibitors

  • Leucine rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) is a highly promising target for Parkinson's disease (PD) that affects millions of people worldwide. A three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR) analysis was performed on a series of pyrrolopyrimidine-based selective LRRK2 kinase inhibitors. This study was performed to rationalize the structural requirements responsible for the inhibitory activity of these compounds. A reliable 3D-QSAR model was developed using comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) technique. The model produced statistically acceptable results with a cross-validated correlation coefficient ($q^2$) of 0.539 and a non-cross-validated correlation coefficient ($r^2$) of 0.871. Robustness of the model was further evaluated by bootstrapping and progressive scrambling analysis. This work could assist in designing more potent LRRK2 inhibitors.

Feasibility of a Nonlinear Acoustic Method for the Assessment of Bone Status and Osteoporosis in Trabecular Bone

  • The present study aims to investigate the feasibility of using a simple nonlinear acoustic method for the assessment of bone status and osteoporosis in trabecular bone. Correlations of linear and nonlinear ultrasound parameters with the apparent bone density were obtained in 32 bovine femoral trabecular bone samples. Highly significant positive correlations were observed between the apparent bone density and the two linear ultrasound parameters, the speed of sound (SOS) and the normalized broadband ultrasound attenuation (nBUA), with Spearman's correlation coefficients of r = 0.85 and 0.77. In contrast, the apparent bone density was found to be negatively correlated with the nonlinear ultrasound parameter introduced in the present study, the logarithmic difference between the power spectrum levels of the fundamental frequency and the second harmonic (PSL1-PSL2), with the highest correlation coefficient of r = -0.92. These results suggest that the PSL1-PSL2, in addition to the SOS and the nBUA, may be useful for the assessment of bone status and osteoporosis.
