  • As the concept of experience economy has been accelerated recently, user experience is more emphasized today, most of all. And related representative keywords are gamification. Gamification characterized by that intangible elements are produced and consumed through various interactions between providers and users and by having a structure that is difficult to generalize and objectify to economic value. Therefore, the purpose of the present study is to develop a quantitative valuation indicator of concept and standardize the valuation formula covering economic value for gamification technology and overall framework from the perspective of evaluating economic values of intangible technologies such as of knowledge, design, contents, and service of a company.

  • Several factors can be chosen for evaluating seakeeping performance, such as deck wetness, propeller racing, slamming, rolling, vertical acceleration and vertical bending moment, in consi-deration of the safety of human being, cargo and ship. In fact, there are few developments for an evalua-tion method of seakeepting performance correponding with each ship's characteristics. The purpose of this paper is to develop an quantitative evaluation method of seakeeping performance according to ship types. The scope and the method of this study are as follow. (1) Obtain each response amplitude of ship's motion in waves by Ordinary Strip Method and apply it to short-crested, irregular wave for random process of the factors on seakeeping performance. (2) Define the evaluation index, the dangerousness, the maximum dangerousness and the evaluation diagram. (3) Figure out the different characteristics according to ship types by computer simulation of evaluating seakeeping performance. (4) Adopt vertical acceleration and one of rolling or lateral acceleration as the factors on seakeeping performance by clarifying the correlation of stochastic process. This study developed an evaluation method coincident with each ship's characteristics, and suggested a device for application to actual ship. This method might be useful in developing the practical system of seakeeping performance in accordance with ship types. The ship models for computer simulation are 175m container ship types, 93m tranning ship HANARA as passenger ship type, 259m bulk-carrier type and 164m pure car-carrier type.

  • This study aims to recognize damage indicators of typhoon and to develop damage function's indicators, using information derived from the actual loss of typhoon Maemi. As typhoons engender significant financial damage all over the world, governments and insurance companies, local or global, develop hurricane risk assessment models and use it in quantifying, avoiding, mitigating, or transferring the risks. For the reason, it is crucial to understand the importance of the risk assessment model for typhoons, and the importance of reflecting local vulnerabilities for more advanced evaluation. Although much previous research on the economic losses associated with natural disasters has identified the risk indicators that are indispensable, more comprehensive research addressing the relationship between vulnerability and economic loss are still called for. Hence this study utilizes and analyzes the actual loss record of the typhoon Maemi provided by insurance companies to fill such gaps. In this study, natural disaster indicators and basic building information indicators are used in order to generate the vulnerability functions; and the results and indicators suggest a practical approach to create the vulnerability functions for insurance companies and administrative tasks, while reflecting the financial loss and local vulnerability of the actual buildings.

  • Ligand-based quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) studies were performed on indolinones derivatives as a potential inhibitor of the protein tyrosine kinase of fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) by comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) and comparative molecular similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA) implemented in the SYBYL packages. The initial X-ray structure of docked ligand (Su5402) to FGFR was used to minimize the 27 training set molecules using TRIPOS force field. Seven models were generated using CoMFA and CoMSIA with grid spacing 2 ${\AA}$. After the PLS analysis the best predicted CoMSIA model with hydrophobicity, hydrogen bond donor and acceptor property showed that a leave-one out(LOO) cross validated value $({r^2}_{cv})^$ and non-cross validated conventional value $({r^2}_{ncv})^$ are 0.543 and 0.938, respectively.

  • Pharmacophore models for lymphocyte-specific protein tyrosine kinase (P56 LCK) were developed using CATALYST HypoGen with a training set comprising of 25 different P56 LCK inhibitors. The best quantitative pharmacophore hypothesis comprises of one hydrogen bond acceptor, one hydrogen bond donor, one hydrophobic aliphatic and one ring aromatic features with correlation coefficient of 0.941, root mean square deviation (RMSD) of 0.933 and cost difference (null cost-total cost) of 66.23. The pharmacophore model was validated by two methods and the validated model was further used to search databases for new compounds with good estimated LCK inhibitory activity. These compounds were evaluated for their binding properties at the active site by molecular docking studies using GOLD software. The compounds with good estimated activity and docking scores were evaluated for physiological properties based on Lipinski's rules. Finally 68 compounds satisfied all the properties required to be a successful inhibitor candidate.

  • The nonlinear numerical analysis of the impact response of reinforced concrete/mortar beam incorporated with the updated Lagrangian method, namely the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) is carried out in this study. The analysis includes the simulation of the effects of high mass low velocity impact load falling on beam structures. Three material models to describe the localized failure of structural elements are: (1) linear pressure-sensitive yield criteria (Drucker-Prager type) in the pre-peak regime for the concrete/mortar meanwhile, the shear strain energy criterion (Von Mises) is applied for the steel reinforcement (2) nonlinear hardening law by means of modified linear Drucker-Prager envelope by employing the plane cap surface to simulate the irreversible plastic behavior of concrete/mortar (3) implementation of linear and nonlinear softening in tension and compression regions, respectively, to express the complex behavior of concrete material during short time loading condition. Validation upon existing experimental test results is conducted, from which the impact behavior of concrete beams are best described using the SPH model adopting an average velocity and erosion algorithm, where instability in terms of numerical fragmentation is reduced considerably.

  • A proposed topology method is introduced to measure the air content of fresh cement paste and hardened concrete. The method takes advantage of chromatographic analysis in void areas that are highlighted using different color schemes and later calculated using built-in computer software. The air content measured by the topology method is compared with results obtained from the conventional ASTM methods. It is concluded that the proposed method is reliable, and costs less and is easier to operate compared with the ASTM methods. In addition, 3 dimensional pore models can be created using image post-processing techniques. The proposed method helps researchers in understanding the formation and existence of concrete pores. This paper reports a detailed test program demonstrating the standard operating procedure used for the proposed method and presents a comparison of results between the proposed method and conventional ASTM Specifications. It is also concluded that the air content increases with increasing size of pores and increasing percentage of coarse aggregates.

  • Ultrasonic atomic force microscopy(Ultrasonic-AFM) can be used to obtain images of the elastic properties of a subsurface and to evaluate the elastic properties by measuring the contact resonance frequency. When a tip is in contact with the sample, it is necessary to understand the cantilever behavior and the tip-sample interaction for the quantitative and reliable analysis. Therefore, precise analysis models that can accurately simulate the tip-sample contact are required; these can serve as good references for predicting the contact resonance frequency. In this study, modal analyses of the first four modes were performed to calculate the contact resonance frequency by using a spring model, and the deformed shapes of the cantilever were visualized at each mode. We presented the contact characteristics of the cantilever with a variety of contact conditions by applying the contact area, contact material thickness, and material properties as the parameters for the FEM analysis.

  • Three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR) studies on 59 cinnamaldehyde analogues as Farnesyl Protein Transferase (FPTase) inhibitors were investigated using comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) with the PLS region-focusing method. Forty-nine training set inhibitors were used for CoMFA with two different grid spacings, $2{\AA}\;and\;1{\AA}$ Ten compounds, which were not used in model generation, were used to validate the CoMFA models. After the PLS analysis, the best predictive CoMFA model showed that the cross-validated value $(r^2_{cv})$ and the non-cross validated conventional value$(r^2_{ncv})$ are 0.557 and 0.950, respectively. From the CoMFA contour maps, the steric and electrostatic properties of cinnamaldehyde analogues can be identified and verified.

  • Holographic interferornetric tomography can provide reconstruction of instantaneous three dimensional gross flow fields. The technique however confronts ill-posed reconstruction problems in practical applications. Experimental data are usually limited in projection and angular scanning when a field is captured instantaneously or under the obstruction of test models and test section enclosures. An algorithm, based on a series expansion method, has been developed to improve the reconstruction under the ill-posed conditions. A three-dimensional natural convection flow around two interacting isothermal cubes is experimentally investigated. The flow can provide a challenging reconstruction problem and lend itself to accurate numerical solution for comparison. The refractive index fields at two horizontal sections of the thermal plume with and without an opaque object are reconstructed at a limited view angle of 80" The experimental reconstructions are then compared with those from numerical calculation and thermocouple thermometry. It confirms that the technique is applicable to reconstruction of reasonably complex, three-dimensional flow fields.elds.
