The human sensibility caused by the motion of an object grasped by a human operator is defined as kinesthetic sense of arm. Due to nonlinearity and ambiguity of human sense, there is no absolute standard for quantification of kinesthetic sense. In this research, a so-called 2-dimensional arm motion generator is developed to present various mechanical impedance (i.e., stiffness or damping) characteristics to a human arm. The kinesthetic words representing arm kinesthetic sense are selected and then the subject's satisfaction levels on these words for given impedance values are measured and processed by the SD method and factor analysis. In addition, the quantification method using neural network is proposed to take into account the individual difference between the mean sensibility and each subject's sensibility. Through this proposed algorithm, the sensibility of human motion described qualitatively can be converted into engineering data ensuring objectivity, reproducibility, and universality.

Direct quantification of methanol in polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) by solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was studied and the methanol concentrations in PEM produced by crossover and diffusion were compared. The error range of the quantification was not smaller than ${\pm}15%$ and the amount of the methanol crossed over in our direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) was less than the methanol diffused to PEM. The methanol concentration in the PEM of the DMFC operated at different current densities were equivalent.
QFD(Quality Function Deployment) is design method which is focused to guarantee of quality and function to satisfy for customer’s need. QFD are used entire manufacturing, specially new production development and design. HOQ(House of Quality) are important tool of QFD, which is implement that complex function and communications of customer. Actually implementation of HOQ are difficult by HOQ's size. It is well known that complexity of HOQ are exponentially increasing by increasing of HOQ’s size. In this Paper, we study of HOQ Complexity reduction by Quantification Method of Type Ⅲ. That method is efficiency and minimize of loss information by reduction HOQ. We give example and prove our suggestion method is better than other methods.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between health behavior patterns and demographic, socio-economic characteristics, health status, health information in Korea. The quantification method through canonical correlation analysis was conducted to the data from Korea National Health Survey in 1995, which consisted of 5,805 persons. The health lifestyle patterns were quantified as good diet lifestyle, passive lifestyle to the negative direction and drinker lifestyle, smoker lifestyle, hedonic lifestyle and fitness lifestyle to the positive direction. The covariate were related to health lifestyle patterns in the order of sex, age, marital status, occupation, health information, economic status, level of physical labour and health status. Characteristics of male, age below 50, married, blue colored worker, no health information, low in economic status, heavy level of physical labour, and poor in health status were positively related to drinker lifestyle, smoker lifestyle, hedonic lifestyle, fitness lifestyle sequentially.
In order to properly quantify fission reactor neutronics parameter uncertainties, we have to use covariance data and sensitivity profiles consistently. In the present paper, we establish two consistent methodologies for uncertainty quantification: a self-shielded cross section-based consistent methodology and an infinitely-diluted cross section-based consistent methodology. With these methodologies and the covariance data of uranium-238 nuclear data given in JENDL-3.3, we quantify uncertainties of infinite neutron multiplication factors of light water reactor and fast reactor fuel cells. While an inconsistent methodology gives results which depend on the energy group structure of neutron flux and neutron-nuclide reaction cross section representation, both the consistent methodologies give fair results with no such dependences.

A method for detection and quantification of aceticlastic methanogens using a real-time PCR with a TaqMan probe was developed. Two sets of primers and probes targeting the family Methanosarcinaceae and Methanosaetaceae were designed by using the Ribosormal Database Project (RDP) II, and softwares for phylogenetic probe design and sequence analysis. Target-group specificity of each set of primers and probe was verified by testing DNAs isolated from pure cultures of 28 archaeal strains purchased from DSMZ. Cell numbers in the 28 archaeal cultures and in the samples from anaerobic processes were quantified using a real-time PCR with the sets of primers and probe. In conclusion, the real-time PCR assay was very specific for the corresponding target methanogenic family and was proved to be a powerful method for quantification of aceticlastic methanogens in anaerobic processes.

The current drive in a MOSFET is limited by the intrinsic channel resistance. All other parasitic elements in a device structure perform significant functions leading to degradation in the device performance. These other resistances must be less than 10$\%$-20$\%$ of the channel resistance. To meet the necessary requirements, the methodology of separation and quantification of those resistances should be investigated. In this paper, we developed an extraction method for the resistances using calibrated TCAD simulation. The resistance of the extension region is also partially determined by the formation of a surface accumulation region that gathers below the gate in the tail region of the extension profile. This resistance is strongly affected by the abruptness of the extension profile because the steeper the profile is, the shorter this accumulation region will be.
This paper proposes a method for quantifying the types of quality elements proposed by Kano; namely: attractive quality, one-dimensional quality, and must-be quality. Kano's classification of required quality has helped us improve our thinking in product development. However, his classification is conceptual rather than quantitative, and the conventional techniques of questionnaire and group interview cannot provide quantification of the relationship between the degree of customer satisfaction and the degree of sufficiency of required qualities. This paper describes how a quality element under Kano's quality model can be expressed as a utility function, and describes an application to quality design of a cellular phone.
Myocardial perfusion and function can be quantified using SPECT and PET. There was controversy over the usefulness of the correction techniques for physical artifacts, such as photon attenuation and scatter, in the quantification of myocardial perfusion using SPECT. However, the cumulated results of many investigations have leaded the consensus on the usefulness of the correction procedures to improve the accuracy and specificity of the myocardial SPECT in the assessment of coronary artery diseases. Although the clinical value of the myocardial perfusion PET has not been preyed yet, the absolute myocardial blood flow and perfusion reserve values quantified using myocardial PET are employed in many basic investigations. In this paper, the methods for the quantitative myocardial SPECT and PET will be reviewed.
We developed quantification method based on the concept of candela in physics. The measurement of fluorescence signal from a nude mouse in the research of molecular biology. In the measurement of the optical signal with CCD, the quantification method for photon counts based on bio-luminescence imaging technique can provide comparative reference data. In this paper, we described theoretical derivation of our proposed concept. We hope this method could be a useful standard reference for quantitative date analysis in optical imaging.
