  • The purpose of this study is to explore risk factors affecting the oral health quality of life of non-medical hospital workers. As for the research method, a survey was conducted on 608 workers at hospitals in the metropolitan area from April 20 to July 30, 2021. As research tools, questions related to work loss, oral health status, and oral health quality of life were investigated. For the analysis methods, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA test, and hierarchical regression analysis were performed. As a result of controlling exogenous variables, gender(β=0.108), systemic disease(β=0.136), oral health level(β=0.201), and oral health status(β=0.463) were found to have an effect on the quality of life. Initiating regular oral health education for non-medical hospital workers will be of great help to promote oral health and work.

Turnover Intent, Sleep disorders, Job satisfaction, practicing health promotion profile and quality of life scales were used to collect the data. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and Pearson's correlation coefficient for find the relationship between study variables. Stepwise multiple regressions used to find predicting factors of turnover intention with other variables. The shift group showed lower Job satisfaction, practice of health promotion behavior and intention of turnover than non-shift nurses. The most important predictive factors of turnover intention in of shift group was job satisfaction (β =-. 477, p <.001) and non-shift group was health promotion behavior (β =-. 295, p = .040) than other factors. Findings showed that turnover intention highly influenced by job satisfaction than health promoting behavior and quality of life. This study suggests organizational efforts to provide sufficient staffing and nurse managersshould make more concentration to allot work schedule in order to avoid over load shift nurses and promote quality of client care.

  • Purpose: This study was done to assess the home nursing and quality of life of parents caring for preschool children with atopic dermatitis and to identify the factors which influence quality of life. Methods: Participants in the study were 149 parents of preschool children with atopic dermatitis attending a kindergarten and a nursery school in S city. Parent completed a set of questionnaires (assessing demographic factors, home nursing, quality of life). Descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression were used to analyze the data. Results: The mean score for home nursing was $3.06{\pm}0.38$ and for quality of life, $4.18{\pm}0.74$. The lowest scored question in the 13 question on quality of life was that of frustration related to itching sensation. Significant factors that affect quality of life were severity and home care. These variables explained 21% of variance in quality of life (F=21.17, p<.001). Conclusion: The results indicate that severity of childhood atopic dermatitis and home nursing impact on the quality of life of parents. Using the above findings, health professionals who work with children with atopic dermatitis and their parents need to develop specific nursing interventions that will promote health of children with atopic dermatitis and quality of life in their parents.

  • The main purposes of the study were to identify factors affecting health-related quality of life of elderly stroke survivors, and to suggest social work interventions for improving their quality of life. The participants were 328 elderly stroke survivors over 55 years old recruited from 18 long-term care hospitals and 13 nursing care facilities in Chung-Nam Province, Korea. The data was collected through a direct survey method from Dec. 16, 2008 to Jan. 17, 2009. Statistical analysis revealed that the overall health-related quality of life among participants was relatively low, especially in the social relationships domain. As a result of hierarchical multiple regression analysis, depression emerged as the most significant predictor of elderly stroke survivors' health-related quality of life, followed by financial burden in future, activities of daily living, acceptance of disability, comorbidity, and major financial supporter(spouse). Health-related quality of life of elderly stroke survivors in long-term care facilities was affected by a variety of variables from disease-related factors to environmental ones. Particularly psychosocial variables were the most powerful factors to predict HRQOL of elderly stroke survivors. Based on the results, social work implications were discussed in the context of developing clinical strategies to alleviate elderly stroke survivors' health-related quality of life in long-term care facilities. Living with chronic illness and disability is a great challenge to the elderly. Most of all long-term residence in care facilities can cause deterioration of quality of life in old age. From now on, studies on health-related quality of life of elderly with chronic illness and disability should be activated in social work field.

Second, severely disabled persons who used movement assisters perceived a higher quality of life in the areas of family, residence, and work. Slightly disabled persons who used movement assisters perceived a higher quality of life only in the area of family. Third, workers with external physical disabilities who used movement assisters had positive effects on their quality of life arising from job satisfaction in relation to income, job stability, working environments, working hours, possibilities for job development, communication, and human relations that is, a higher job satisfaction was correlated with a higher perceived quality of life.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to analyze the associations between physical therapists' work-related musculoskeletal pain, quality of life (QoL), and presenteeism. Methods: Self-reported questionnaires were given to 402 physical therapists in Korea. Variables examined included the prevalence of pain sites related to work, pain intensity, pain pattern, pain frequency, pain duration, pain rating score (PRS), general characteristics, QoL, and presenteeism. Results: Of the 314 physical therapists who responded, 251 (79.9%) reported work -related musculoskeletal pain in at least one body part. The most affected regions included the wrist and hand (21.0%), shoulder (19.6%), and lower back (19.1%). On average patients, QoL and presenteeism differed significantly between physical therapists who reported pain and those who did not (P < 0.05). QoL showed a negative correlation with the work-related musculoskeletal pain (P < 0.01) and presenteeism (P < 0.01), while the presenteeism and work-related musculoskeletal pain showed positive one(P < 0.01). Factors influencing a physical therapist's QoL included presenteeism, Working venues (Convalescent hospital), Work status (Contra ct worker) and professional experience, while the presenteeism included QoL, work status (Intern), PRS, working venues (Convalescent hospital), Area of specialty (Pediatrics), age, sex and working hour. Conclusions: Results show that physical therapists appear to be at a higher risk for work-related musculoskeletal pain. Therefore, administrators need to use the intervention strategies to manage the presenteeism and QoL of physical therapists.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the differences in symptoms of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) between vinylhouse farmers and non-vinylhouse farmers. The study included 118 residents who lived in a rural community. All subjects were assigned to the vinylhouse farmers group (N=58) and the non-vinylhouse farmers group (N=60) according to main agricultural work type. All respondents were interviewed by means of a structured questionnaire. WMSDs symptoms were measured by a self- assessed questionnaire on symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders, and HRQoL was measured by SF-36. Vinylhouse farmers had significant more symptoms of WMSDs in each regional parts of musculoskeletal system, and had significant poor total health status in SF-36. Symptoms of WMSDs were most reliable risk factor for HRQoL. Various health promotion interventions are needed to prevent WMSDs in all farmers and especially vinylhouse workers.
