통계분석 및 수질지수를 이용한 남한강 하류 유역의 수질 평가 (Assessment of Water Quality in the Lower Reaches Namhan River by using Statistical Analysis and Water Quality Index (WQI))

  • Water pollution in the lower reaches of the Namhan River is getting worse due to drought and a decrease in water quantity due to climatic changes and hence is affecting the water quality of Paldang Lake. Accordingly, we have used a water quality index (WQI) and statistical analysis in this study to identify the characteristics of the water quality in the lower reaches of the Namhan River, the main causes of water pollution, and tributaries that need priority management. Typically, 10 items (WT, pH, EC, DO, BOD, COD, SS, T-N, T-P, and TOC) were used as the water quality factors for the statistical analysis, and the matrix of data was set as 324 × 10·1. The correlation analysis demonstrated a strong correlation between Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and T-P with a high statistical significance (r=0.700, p<0.01). Furthermore, the result of principal component analysis (PCA) revealed that the main factors affecting the change in water quality were T-P and organic substances introduced into the water by rainfall. Based on the Mann-Kendall test, a statistically significant increase in pH was observed in SH-1, DL, SH-2, CM, and BH, along with an increase in WQI in SH-2 and SM. BH was identified as a tributary that needs priority management in the lower reaches of the Namhan River, with a "Somewhat poor" (IV) grade in T-P, "Fair" grade in WQI, and "Marginal" grade in summer.

  • Background: The quality differences in seedlings of medicinal herbs often affect the quality of medicinal parts. The establishment of the grading standard of Panax notoginseng seedlings is significant for the stable quality of medicinal parts of P. notoginseng. Methods: To establish the grading standard of P. notoginseng seedlings, a total of 36,000 P. notoginseng seedlings were collected from 30 producing areas, of which the fresh weight, root length, root diameter, bud length, bud diameter, and rootlet number were measured. The K-means clustering method was applied to grade seedlings and establish the grading standard. Results: The fresh weight and rootlet number of P. notoginseng seedlings were determined as the final indices of grading. P. notoginseng seedlings from different regions of Yunnan could be preliminarily classified into four grades: the special grade, the premium grade, the standard grade, and culled seedlings. Conclusion: The grading standard was proven to be reasonable according to the agronomic characters, emergence rate, and photosynthetic efficiency of seedlings after transplantation, and the yields and contents of active constituents of the medicinal parts from different grades of seedlings.

  • 우리나라 생사의 품질수준을 통계적 관리법으로 분석하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 우리나라제사공장의 생사제조에 있어서의 품질관리법으로서는 2A격 이상의 생사를 생산할 수 없었다. 2. 생사의 품질을 향상시키기 위하여서는 사조반평균점과 대중절점을 중점적으로 관리하여야 한다. 3. 생사검사항목별로 볼 때에 재조와 신도성적은 매년 악화되어 가고 있다. 4. X-$\sigma$관리도로 볼 때 사조반열등점은 안정화되어 있으나 대중절점은 불안정한 상태로서 그의 편차의 변동범위가 컸었다.

Comparison of Beef Palatability Characteristics between Longissimus Thoracis and Vastus Lateralis Muscles from Different Grades during Postmortem Aging

  • The objectives of this study was to compare palatability changes of the longissimus thoracis (LT) and vastus lateralis (VL) muscles of Hanwoo steers from different beef quality grades (1+ and 1) during 28 d of wet-aging in order to improve the utilization of the VL muscle as a steak. The VL muscle showed a higher collagen content and a lower intramuscular fat content than the LT muscle (p<0.05). As expected, the Warner-Bratzler shear force value was greater in the LT 1 grade (LT-1) muscle than the LT-1+ muscle (p<0.05); whereas no difference was observed between the grades in the VL muscle at 24 h postmortem. Compared to 0 d of aging, tenderness scores significantly increased after 14 and 21 d of aging in the LT and VL muscles, respectively (p<0.05). Additionally, there was no difference in tenderness score between the VL-1+ aged for 21 d and the LT-1 at 24 h postmortem, although tenderness score was greater in the LT than the VL at each period (p<0.05). Moreover, the VL-1+ steak exhibited a higher tenderness score than the VL-1 steak at 21 and 28 d of aging (p<0.05). On the other hand, the effect of aging time on juiciness and flavor in the VL muscle was somewhat limited unlike the LT muscle. Taken together, the VL muscle requires a longer aging time than the LT muscle to improve consumer preference. Considering the tenderness, using a higher quality grade for aging is more useful in the VL muscle.

Effect of Modified Atmosphere Packaging and Vacuum Packaging on Quality Characteristics of Low Grade Beef during Cold Storage

  • Many studies have been carried out with respect to packaging methods and temperature conditions of beef. However, the effects of packaging methods and temperature conditions on the quality characteristics have not been extensively studied in low-grade beef. Low-grade beef samples were divided into 3 groups (C: ziplock bag packaging, T1: vacuum packaging, and T2: modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), $CO_2/N_2$ = 3:7) and samples were stored at $4^{\circ}C$ for 21 days. The water-holding capacity (WHC) was significantly lower in T1 than in the other samples up to 14 days of storage. The thiobarbituric acid reactive substances and volatile basic nitrogen values were significantly lower in T1 and T2 than in C after 7 to 14 days of storage. The total bacterial counts were significantly lower in T1 and T2 than in C after 14 days of storage. In a sensory evaluation, tenderness and overall acceptability were significantly higher in T1 and T2 than in C at the end of the storage period (21 days). We propose that the MAP method can improve beef quality characteristics of low-grade beef during cold storage. However, the beneficial effects did not outweigh the cost increase to implement MAP.

해상풍력발전단지 경관의 질 평가를 위한 평가기법의 개발 및 활용방안 (Development and Utilization of Evaluation Methods for Offshore Wind Farm Landscape Quality Assessment)

  • 국내의 경관영향평가는 시각적 영향을 평가하는 기술적 기법은 표준화되어 있지만, 해양경관 자체를 평가하는 방법은 표준화되지 않은 한계가 있어 개선이 필요한 실정이다. 특히 국내의 해상풍력발전의 경관영향평가에서도 경관 자체를 수용체로 인식하고 그 경관의 특성 및 민감도를 평가할 수 있는 체계 마련이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 해상풍력발전 사업의 사업 특성을 반영한 해양경관의 질 평가서 작성에 관한 평가방안을 제시하고, 실제 사업대상지를 사례로 적용하여 활용 가능성을 검토하였다. 해상풍력발전 사업 시 해양경관의 질 평가는 사전 조사 내용을 바탕으로 경관 특성, 물리적 특성, 사회문화적 특성의 평가항목을 평가하고, 5개의 등급으로 구분하여 해양경관의 질을 평가하였다. 다음으로 평가 항목의 평가 기준을 종합하여 해양경관의 질 등급을 보존등급(5급)-준보존등급(4급)-완충등급(3급)-준 개선등급(2급)-개선등급(1급)으로 구분하여 판정하였다. 또한, 실제 사업대상지인 신안우이 해상풍력 발전사업 단지를 임의로 선정하여 평가 과정을 수행하고 활용성을 검토하였다. 본 연구는 해상풍력발전 사업 시 기존의 시각영향평가 위주의 방법을 보완하고 해양경관 자체의 질을 평가하여 해상풍력발전 사업 진행 시 해양경관자원을 효과적으로 보전하고자 하였다. 경관평가 시 기계적이고 정량적인 평가에 의존하기보다는, 사업대상지의 입지적, 사회문화적 특성에 대한 종합적 이해와 이해당사 자들과의 소통과 협력을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있기를 기대한다.

Comparison of Tastes-Related Components and Eating Quality between Hanwoo Steer and Cow Longissimus thoracis Muscles

  • The objective of this study was to compare tastes-related components and eating quality properties between Hanwoo steer and cow meats. Longissimus thoracis (LT) muscles with same quality grade (1+ grade) collected from left sides of the steer and cow carcasses were used for analyses of technological quality traits, free amino acids (FAAs), metabolites, nucleotides, fatty acids and sensory attributes. there were no differences occurring in the chemical composition (fat, protein, moisture and collagen) and technological quality traits (cooking loss, water holding capacity, shear force and color) between the two beef types (p>0.05). The cow meat exhibited significantly higher amounts of some FAAs associated with umami (e.g., glutamic acid and lysine), sweetness (e.g., proline and glutamic acid) and saltiness (e.g., histidine and glutamic acid) compared to the steer meat (p<0.05). Regarding the nucleotides, no differences occurred in all the identified nucleotides between the two beef types (p>0.05). A total of 27 metabolites were identified, however, only some compounds (e.g., acetate, creatine, creatinine, glucose and inosine, etc.) showed their significantly higher amounts in the cow meat compared with those in the steer meat (p<0.05). In terms of sensory aspects, the panelists found no differences in scores of all the eating quality traits between the two sex types of beef (p>0.05). Overall, excepts some variations in tastes-active compounds, there were no differences in the quality characteristics in general and eating quality in particular between the cow and steer meats when they were in the same quality grade.

국내 유통 조사료의 사료가치에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Nutritive Value of Distributed Roughage in Domestic Market)

  • The object of this experiment was to evaluate nutritive value of roughage which was collected by Woosung Feed Co., Ltd. in Korea in 1999-2000. Nineteen kinds of roughage(l32 samples) were collected by Woosung Feed Co., Ltd. and their chemical composition, ADF, NDF, Ca and P. were analysed. In addition, their DMD, DMI, WV and hay grades were calculated based on analysed values. The CP content of roughage was ranged from 17.35%(alfalfa hay) to 4.00%(Italian ryegrass hay), and ten kinds of roughage under six percentages were observed. The NDF content of roughage was ranged from 47.50%(sugarcane leaf) to 78.84%(orchardgrass hay), and eight kinds of roughage above seventy percentages were observed. The DMD of roughage was ranged from 66.38%(beet pulp) to 50.95%(orchardgrass hay). The WV of roughage was ranged from 60.1 l(orchardgrass hay) to 125.07(sugarcane leaf). In hay grade of roughage, the first grade was assigned to sugarcane leaf only and the third grade and fourth grade were assigned to four kinds of roughage each. Bermudagrass straw received the fifth grade, and the nine kinds of roughage received the poor grades. As shown in the above results, nineteen kinds of roughage were mostly low in crude protein contents and dry matter digestibility, but they were high in fibrous contents. Futhermore, while only one kind of roughage was evaluated as obtaining the first grade, nine kinds of roughage were evaluated as the poor grade. Hence, we know that roughage which was collected in Korea was mostly low in their quality and that there was significant difference in their feed value among those roughage(P<0.05). 시판 덖음녹차의 품질에 따른 이화학적 특성 (Chemical Properties on the Quality of Marketed Roasting Green teas)

  • 시판되고 있는 녹차를 가격과 적채시기에 따라 상품, 중품 및 하품으로 구분하여 수분, 회분, 총 질소, 탄닌, 카페인, 색도 및 엽록소의 함량을 분석하고 관능평가를 실시하여 품질에 따른 상관관계를 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 수분의 함량은 2.17-3.67%, 회분은 4.50-5.17%, 총 질소는 4.38-4.68%로 품질에 따른 차이가 없었다. 2. 탄닌은 상품이 11.09%,중품이 14.22%, 하품이 14.44%로서 상품이 중품과 하품보다 유의적으로 낮았다. 3. 질소와 탄닌의 조성비율(N/T)은 상품이 39.5%, 중품이 32.6%, 하품이 32.70%으로 상품일수록 유의적으로 높게 나타났다. 4. 카페인은 상품이 평균 1.78%, 중품이 1.32%, 하품이 0.92%로 적채시기가 늦어질수록 유의적으로 감소하였다. 5. 엽록소 a와 b의 량은 상품이 중품과 하품보다 유의적으로 높게 나타나 총엽록소 함량은 상품이 297.37 mg%, 중품이 182.89 mg%, 하품이 204.79 mg%으로 상품이 가장 높았다. 6. 색도에서 Yellow치는 상품과 중품이 하품보다 유의적으로 높았으나, red와 blue치에서는 품질간의 차이가 없었다. 7. 관능 평가는 상품이 중품과 하품보다 외판, 맛이 좋았으며 향기와 색깔은 상품과 중품이 비슷하게 나타나 전체적인 관능평가도는 상품, 중품, 하품순으로 유의적으로 높게 나타났다. 8. 가격과 적채시기에 따른 품질은 카페인, 외관, 맛과는 양의 상관관계(P < 0.01)를, tannin과는 음의 상관관계(P < 0.05)를 보였다. 또한 질소와 탄닌의 조성비율(N/T)은 탄닌과는 높은 음의 상관관계(P < 0.01)를 나타내었으나 카페인과는 양의 상관관계(P < 0.05)를 나타내었다. 이상에서 적채시기가 빠른 상품일수록 질소와 탄닌의 조성비율(N/T)이 높고, 카페인 및 총 엽록소의 함량이 높았으며, 관능평가에서도 좋게 나타났다.연화도는 증가하였으나, 기호도의 경우는 알갱이 15%,분말 10%를 장조림에 첨가하였을 때 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다.반후의 색차도 PT20이 가장 낮았다.ference. 수입원료견의 견질조사 (A survey on Cocoon Quality Imported in 1983)

  • 최근, 우리나라가 외국산견을 수입하여 기계검정한 성적을 비교 분석한바 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1) 원료견의 성상이 고르지 못한데 특히 선제견비율과 건견생사량비율에서 심한 변동을 나타내었다. 2) 상위등급의 원료견을 수입하지 못하고 D,E격의 하위등급견이 수입되었으며 가격이 높은 편이다. 3) 상위격의 원료견을 수입하는 것이 향후 우러나라 견제품의 고급화를 피하리라고 본다.
