This paper describes the thermal effect at Nd:YAG using a laser-diode side-pumping. To detect the depolarization loss and the retardation caused by the thermal effect, a λ/4 plate is inserted between the polarizer and the Nd:YAG laser material. Using a CCD has allowed detection of the variation of the beam pattern that could analyze the change of the refractive index of the Nd:YAG laser material by the thermal effect. Through the change of the probe beam power, we know that 21% of the pumping power was converted into heat in the material. The depolarization loss was 24.7% under a temperature of $25^{\circ}C$ of the laser material and a pumping power of 15 W. The inhomogeneous distribution showed that the retardation angle was 7$^{\circ}$ in the center of the material and 19$^{\circ}$ on the edge of it. It is confirmed that the thermal effect is analyzed at the each point of the laser material and it suggests an effective method to reduce the thermal effect on the LD side-pumped laser material.

Recently, high-strength concrete used for shortening the construction time of high-rise building construction, Concrete pumping technology is emerging as the core technology of high-rise buildings. In this paper, we have started to study the use of electromagnetic field as a method to increase the efficiency of the lubricating layer between the inside of the pipe and concrete, which has been established as the most important factor determining the pumping performance. The pumping performance improvement effect of concrete strength was verified and basic research was carried out to utilize it as a method to increase the efficiency of pumping in field application. In the related work, the effect of the electromagnetic field was verified by conducting a mock-up performance evaluation (horizontal 300 m) of the pumping force by the concrete strength.
This paper introduce the technology of peak demand reduction using automatic water tank pumping system on the apartment. That systems on the apartments installed water tank can control pumping(electricity) demand. Generally, system peak demand is occurred at the same time on workday and many water pumps consume electric power randomly. At this point, shift of operating time of water pump can reduce peak demand using automatic water tank pumping system. We were operating this system on some apartments for test of effect of peak demand reduction. and we represent result of demand shift. This result suggests that spread of the automatic water pumping system can contribute to reduce system peak demand and reduce system operation cost.
The present study has investigated the performance of hydrogen gas generators for inhalation purposes based on polyelectrolyte membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE). The system applied two watering methods. One is pumped water (pumping system) and the other is gravity-fed water without a pump (non-pumping system). The cell efficiencies were compared by measuring the cell voltage and temperature in the hydrogen gas generator, respectively. The results show that the cell voltage and temperature increase with the cell current. The cell temperature is lower in the pumping system than that in the non-pumping system at a given cell current. Even though the amount of hydrogen production is the same regardless of the pumping system, the cell efficiency of the hydrogen gas generator in the non-pumping system is better than that in the pumping system.

In this study, spin-up flows in a rectangular container are analysed both numerically and experimentally. In the numerical computation, we use two Ekman pumping models, the classical leading order and the first order. We also compared our results with those obtained for the case without a pumping model. Effect of two parameters, Reynolds number and the Rossby number on the flow evolution is studied. The first order and the leading order Ekman pumping models are in good agreement with the experimental result compared with the non-Ekman pumping model. Attention is given to the merging of two cyclonic vortices.

In the pumping process, concrete moves along the pipe and experiences both pressure and shear. This changes the workability and flow characteristics of the concrete. However, the effect of pressure and shear on the change in properties of concrete during the pumping process has not yet been accurately identified. This study analyzed the effects of pressure and shear on the properties of concrete during pumping. For quantitative tests, lab-scale test equipment capable of simulating the pressure and shear applied to concrete during pumping was used. For one coarse aggregate type, two paste types, three mortar types, and five concrete types, the effects of pressure, shear, and shear under pressure conditions were examined by varying the maximum pressure (0 to 200 bar) and the rotational speed of the vane for shear (0 to 180 rpm). Under the maximum pressure condition of 200 bar, the water absorption of coarse aggregate increased by 0.62% and that of fine aggregate also increased. When the concrete was under pressure, significant changes (a reduction in a slump and an increase in viscosity and yield stress) compared with the effect of the elapsed time occurred owing to an increase in the water absorption of the aggregates. When both pressure and shear were applied to concrete, both the slump and viscosity decreased. As the rotational speed of the vane increased, changes in properties became significant. Shearing in the absence of pressure maintained the properties of concrete. However, shearing under pressure conditions caused a reduction in slump and viscosity.

The monopole theory has long been used to model air-pumped effect from the elastic cavities in car tire. This approach models the change of an air as a Piston moving backward and forward on a spring and equates local air movements exactly with the volume changes of the system. Thus, the monopole theory has a restricted domain of applicability due to the usual assumption of a small amplitude acoustic wave equation and acoustic monopole theory This paper describes an approach to predict the air-pumping noise of a car tyre with CFD/Kirchhoff integral method. The tyre groove is simply modeled as piston-cavity-sliding door geometry and with the aid of CFD technique flow properties in the groove of rolling car tyre are acquired.'rhese unsteady flow data are used as a air-pumping source in the next CFD calculation of full tyre-road geometry. Acoustic far field is predicted from Kirchhoff integral method by using unsteady flow data in space and time which is provided by the CFD calculation of full tyre-road domain. This approach can cover the non-linearity of acoustic monopole theory with the aid of Non-linear governing equation in CFD calculation. The method proposed in this paper is applied to the prediction of air-pumping noise of simply modeled car tyre and through the predicted results, the influence of nonlinear effect on air-pumping noise propagation is investigated.
As the hydrologic cycle is transformed by the expansion of impermeable area as a result of the urbanization, the function of an ecosystem is deteriorated by the transformed hydrologic cycle. In this study, a SWMM code was modified to have a groundwater pumping option about rivers-aquifer interaction to be possible. The modified SWMM was applied to continuous simulations of urban runoff from Hakuicheon watershed and it was used to analyse the effect of a groundwater pumping. The modified SWMM overcame the limitation of the ground subroutine that it only simulate groundwater inflow from ground to rivers. The result of continuous simulation of groundwater pumping is that surface runoff, groundwater runoff and groundwater level are well simulated, and Modified SWMM expressed groundwater runoff by negative number (-) when groundwater level is less than river stage.
In this study, develop the thermal pump using water evaporation and condensation. Vapor from heating room moves up to pumping room and press the water of pumping room. Consequently water is pumped out to water tank. Then hot vapor direct contact with cold water in condensing room after pumping process. At this time, pressure of condensing room is down to-5kPa and suck in water of tank. This pump executes self ping and good durability because of no mechanical moving parts. Thermal pump is pumped cyclic so that, this pump is not used single. Therefore thermal pump of hot water boiler used to multi-stage for stable pumping rate. As the result of performance test, the developed thermal pump proves pumping action of water evaporation/condensation. And total volume flow rate is 500liter during one hour. If three thermal pump is installed parallel, this pump can use to the hot water boiler in the 300,000kcal/h class.

Optimal remediation design using the pump and treat(P&T) method and natural attenuation was accomplished in consideration for degradation processes, such as sorption and first-order decay rate. Variation of both sorption and first-order decay rate has influence on design of optimal remediation application. When sorption effect increases, the more pumping rate and pumping wells are required. The location of operated wells is on the centerline of contaminant plume and wells near hot spot are mainly operated when sorption effect increases. The higher of first-order decay rate, the less pumping rate is required. These results show that the degradation processes have to be considered as one of the essential factors for optimal remediation design.
