The present study was designed to develop the functional electrical stimulation system in order to restore motor function of paralytic patients. We attempt to establish adequate stimulus parameters for the recovery of work unction in lower limb paralysis patients and to develop the electrical stimulation system, which is effective to protect foot drop in these patients. In our animal and human experiment, adequate stimulus condition for surface electrode on the lower limb were 0.2-0.3ms at the duration and 50 Hz, which contain 600Hz train pulse. This parameter has efficiently prevented the foot drop from lower limb paralysis, decreased muscle fatigue and induced powerful contraction of lower limb muscle.
Hippocampal slice models can be a powerful tool to study the mechanism of partial epilepsy. Despite the loss of connection with the rest of the brain, in vitro hippocampal slice preparations allow detailed physiological and pharmacological studies, which would be impossible, in vivo. There are several methods to induce electrographic seizures on hippocampal slice models. Those are electrical pulse train stimulation, 0 $Mg^{2+}$ artificial cerebrational fluid and high concentration of extracelluar $K^+$ on bath. Among them, the electrically triggered seizure may mimic the physiological communication between neuronal populations without any deterioration of normal physiologic and chemical status of the hippocampal slice models. Presumably, such communication from hyperexcitable areas to other neuronal populations is involved in the development of epilepsy. Electrographic seizures in hippocampal slice models occur in the network of neurons that are involved in epileptic seizures in the hippocampus in vivo. Because these models have many advantages and are very valuable to research of epileptogenesis on partial epilepsy, I would like to introduce the electrophysiological methods to induce electrographic seizure or epilepsy on hippocampal slice models briefly in this paper.
PD(Partial Discharge) signal have the range from several kHz to several GHz. External noises don't give any interference to discerning PD signals with high frequency bandwidth between several hundreds MHz to several GHz but, in the range between several decades kHz to several MHz, are big obstacles to prevent from discriminating PD signals. Therefore, selecting appropriate filter to decrease the influence of noise is important problem. PD signals have the characteristics both short duration and non-continuous pulse train. For separating PD signals from External noises, some different filtering methods different from conventional ones are needed and wavelet filtering method was convinced to be suitable filtering method in various investigations. This paper has simulated PD signal and various noises and investigated the influences for the performance of wavelet filter by varying the components relative to designing of wavelet filter and constructed suitable one. For the purpose of convincing the performance of wavelet filter, real PDs were produced in needle to plane electrode structure. This small PD signal was mixed with external noises and filtered with wavelet filter. We have obtained apparent PD signals and noises are well suppressed by wavelet filter.

There is an increasing demand for efficient high power/weight auxiliary power supplies for use on high speed traction application. Many new conversion techniques have been proposed to reduce the voltage and current stress of switching components, and the switching losses in the traditional pulse width modulation (PWM) converter. Especially, the phase shift full bridge zero voltage switching PWM techniques are thought must desirable for many applications because this topology permits all switching devices to operate under zero voltage switching(ZVS) by using circuit parasitic components such as leakage inductance of high frequency transformer and power device junction capacitance. The proposed topology is found to have higher efficiency than conventional soft-switching converter. Also it is easily applicable to phase shift full bridge converter by applying an energy recovery snubber consisted of fast recovery diodes and capacitors.

This paper presents a method to detect a rotor position and to drive a BLDC motor from standstill to medium speed without any position sensor comparing the current responses due to the inductance variation in the rotor position. A rotor position at a standstill is identified by the current responses of six pulses injected to each phase of a motor. Once the motor stars up pulse train that is composed of long and short pulses is injected to the phase corresponding to produce the maximum torque and the next phase continuously. it provides not only the torque but also the information of the next commutation time effectively when the response of long and short pulses crosses each other after the same time delay. This method which is verified experimentally using a DSP can drive a BLDC motor to the medium speed smoothly without any rattling and time delay compared with the conventional sensorless algorithm.
This paper reports the results of advanced data analysis involving artificial neural networks for the prediction of the unconfined compressive strength of granite using only two non-destructive test indexes. A data-independent site-independent unbiased database comprising 182 datasets from non-destructive tests reported in the literature was compiled and used to train and develop artificial neural networks for the prediction of the unconfined compressive strength of granite. The results show that the optimum artificial network developed in this research predicts the unconfined compressive strength of weak to very strong granites (20.3-198.15 MPa) with less than ±20% deviation from the experimental data for 70% of the specimen and significantly outperforms a number of available models available in the literature. The results also raise interesting questions with regards to the suitability of the Pearson correlation coefficient in assessing the prediction accuracy of models.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI) has become a very widely used medical procedur e. Clo.sed and open systems are typically used with static magnetic fields at or below 2 Tesla. BWhole body SAR(specific absorbsion rate) is the value of SAR averaged over the entire body of the patient over any period of 15 minutes. Head SAR is the value of SAR averaged over the head of the patient for any period of 10 minutes. SAR is a measure of the absorption of electromagnetic energy in the body' (typically in watts per kilogram (W/kg)). The normal operating mode comprises values of head SAR not higher than 3 W/kg. The second level controlled operating mode comprises values higher than 3 W/kg. Current FDA guidance limits the SAR in the whole body. including the head to a range of 1.5 to 4.0 W/kg, depending on the patient's clinical condition. SAR, limit restrictions are incorporated in all MRI systems. and domestic' s guidance limits the SAR in a part body. including the head to 3.2w/kg and less. The purpose of this study is to evaluate on change of head SAR in using MRI pulse sequence and to check if exceed 3.2(w/kg) level in domestic a part exposure through measured head SAR. 23 patient's the average head SAR of pulse sequence is that T2WI sagittal is 0.5375. T2WI axial(FSE) is 0.4817, T1WI axial(SE) is, 0.8179. FLAIR axial is 0.4580. GRE axial is 0.0077, Diffusion is 0.0824w/kg. The head SAR exposed per patient was proved 2.3845w/kg less than the international standard. Coefficient of correlation for the relations body weight and SAR or for the relations ETL(echo train length) and SAR is 1 value. Coefficient of correlation for the relations between TR(time to repeat) and SAR is -0.602 value. so SAR increased relative to weight body and ETL. But the relations between TR and SAR is negative definite.

Near-infrared spectroscopy is now being used in clinical diagnosis as a non-invasive monitor of tissue oxygenation state. However, due to lack of the optical pathlength information within tissues, it is still difficult to quantitate the hemoglobin concentration with present CW techniques. Time-resolved spectroscopy (TRS), which measures temporal profiles of emerging light from tissues, enables to estimate the pathlength distribution within tissues by converting time to distance. Consequently, quantitative measurement of tissue oxygenation is possible by analyzing the data with optical diffusion equation 1) or our Microscopic Beer-Lambert law2). Time-Resolved Spectroscopy System : TRS-1O3) Our TRS-10 system consists of a three-wavelength (759, 797, 833 nm) PLP as pulsed light source, a high speed PMT with high sensitivity and three signal-processing circuits for time-resolved measurement (CFD/TAC, A/D converter and histogram memory). Optical pulse train consisting of 759, 797 and 833nm is generated by PLP at 5㎒ repetition rate and irradiated a sample through a single optical fiber. The diffuse-reflected light from the sample is collected by a bundle fiber and then detected by the PMT for single photon measurement. After being amplified by a following fast amplifier, the electrical signals for each wavelength are picked out by CFD/TAC module. Then, a signal processing circuit integrated the TRS data for each wavelength individually. The simultaneous TRS measurement for three wavelengths achieved without any optical or mechanical switch. Experiment and Results Input and detection fibers of TRS-10 were attached at the human forehead with a fiber separation of 3cm. TRS measurements were continuously performed for about 20 minutes including 2 minutes hyper ventilation. It was observed that the total hemoglobin concentration was decreasing during the hyper ventilation and recovered until 2 minutes after hyper ventilation. On the other hand, the deoxy-hemoglobin concentration began to increase after hyper ventilation and had its peak at around 2 minute later, showing 502 drop from 75% to 60% due to inhibition of breathing by performing hyper ventilation. The results showed that this system might be able to quantitate the concentrations of oxy- and deoxy-hemoglobin in the human brain.

Hypertension is the chronic disease that the 16% of total population are suffering, and it needs to be studied to find alternative treatment because of the tolerance and side effect of medications that may bother some patients. in this paper, we verified practicality of implantable electrical stimulator that can readily change stimulus magnitude and frequency. And this device is possible to stimulate baroreflex or parasympathetic nerve. Therefore we performed in vitro tests and animal experiment for device's operating conditions. This device consist of implantable electrical stimulator and extracorporeal control/monitoring system. Stimulator was designed to make 1Hz~100Hz pulses and it can change continuous or periodic pulse train type. And this device can control stimulator's function and monitor stimulator's status and patients' blood pressure at exterior of body using ZigBee module as wireless telecommunication. We verified that stimulator have error rate under 5% at 50mm depth of organs and, stimulator makes high-efficiency energy with closer position of two electrodes. Also we can confirm the performance of device that decreasing blood pressure and heart rate of a rat by electrical stimulation.

This paper investigates the radiated emission from the enclosure aperture, when the enclosure contains a 4-layer PCB and the PCB is driven by a pulse train additive with the switching noise from an active device. Radiated emission characteristics with and without switch noise cases, respectively, are analyzed by changing the PCB location and the slot direction. The equivalent circuit of a DC-DC converter is used to simulate the switching noise of active device. Also, MWS simulation results are directly connected to the ADS simulator as a 2-port block. The simulated results are compared with the measured ones.
