  • As the industrial technology is getting higher, the pulsed power technology is required from various fields such as thermonuclear fusion energy sources, military applications, electric power distribution, and a variety of new specialized needs. This technology deals with the generation of very high power electromagnetic pulses through fast switching. We fabricated a pulsed power generator, named EMD pulse generator, by using Marx circuit with 200 kV high, 50 ns fast rise time. In this paper, we described about an effect of stray capacitance of coaxial Marx generator, EPG-AM200k, and a comparing the results of experiments and circuit analysis.

  • This paper describes a low frequency electrical nerve stimulator for muscle care. The developed system consist of 8bit low power consumed MPU, voltage boosting circuit converting 9V input to 120V output, repairing circuit for distorted output pulse, LED and buttons for I/O, and electro-chemical pad. The pulse generation algorithm for the muscle care effect is developed with basic pulses such as a single phase rectangle pulse, symmetric rectangle pulse, and depolarized interrupt pulse.

  • High-order harmonic generation from a solid surface affected by the contrast of a laser pulse was studied using an oscillating mirror model. High-order harmonics generated from solid surfaces have unusual properties such as spectral redshift, and an intensity difference between even- and odd-order harmonics which is not reported for high-order harmonics generated by a gas medium. We confirmed that high-order harmonics from solid surfaces have selectivity of polarization as well as cut-off extension and the enhancement of conversion efficiency proportional to laser intensity. And the principle of operation and the characteristics of a plasma mirror system developed for achieving high contrast laser pulses to pursue the experimental realization of high-harmonic generation from solid surfaces are reported. Energy fluence on the plasma mirrors is tunable between $10\;J/cm^2$ and $1000\;J/cm^2$ and around 1000 shots are available before the plasma mirrors require replacement.

  • This paper presents a high-efficiency CMOS PWM DC-DC buck converter. It generates a constant output voltage(1-2.8V), from an input voltage(3.4-3.9V). Inductor-based type is chosen and inductor current is controlled with PWM operation. The designed circuit consists of power switch, Pulse Width Generation, Buffer, Zero Current Sensing, Current Sensing Circuit, Clock & Ramp generation, V-I Converter, Soft Start, Compensator and Modulator. Switching Frequency is 1MHz, It operates in CCM when the load current is more than 40mA, and the maximum efficiency is 98.71% at 100mA. Output voltage ripple is 0.98mV(input voltage:3.5V, output voltage:2.5V). The performance of the designed circuit has been verified through extensive simulation using a CMOS $0.18{\mu}m$ technology.

  • In this study, an Alexandrite laser system for hair removal adopting a multi-discharge method in which three flash lamps are turned on consecutively was designed and fabricated to examine the pulse width and the pulse shape of the laser beams depending upon the changes in the lamp turn-on time. Specifically, this study demonstrates a technology that makes it possible to formulate various pulse shapes by turning on three flashlamps consecutively on a real-time basis with the aid of a PIC (program integrated circuit) one-chip microprocessor. With this technique, the lamp turn-on delay time can be varied more diversely from 0 to 10 ms and real-time control is possible with an external keyboard, enabling an assortment of pulse shapes. In addition, longer pulses can be more widely used for industrial processing as well as for numerous medical purposes.

  • Hydrogen generation by dissociation of water is described. The major force for the dissociation comes from the oxidation potential of the reactive metal reacting with water whereas the minor role is played by electrical discharge which helps sustain the reaction. A premixed reactive metal/water system undergoes a fast hydrogen generation upon the ignition by an electrical pulse. In another method the reactive metal can be fed into the discharge. Some characteristics of the methods are discussed.

  • The small tracking radar randomly changes the transmission period to avoid deceptive signals such as RGPO (Range Gaet Pull Off) operated on the target. Since the code repeats after a specific section, it becomes difficult to avoid a deceptive signal when the repetition is exposed. In this paper, a more realistic transmission pulse code is generated by adding random code generation through FPGA and system white noise. We present the research results of code generation that generates PRF that can avoid repetition while using pseudo-random code in EPROM using FPGA. Also, the result of designing random PRF pulse was confirmed by applying it to tracking radar.
