  • We have experimentally demonstrated sum-frequency generation (SFG) in a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) crystal, using a mode-locked picosecond-pulsed fiber laser and a continuous-wave (CW) diode laser with a narrow linewidth. The mode-locked fiber laser had a center wavelength of 1560.7 nm and a spectral width of 1.1 nm, and the CW diode laser had a center wavelength of 1551.0 nm and a spectral width of 6 MHz. To effectively realize SFG, both of the spatial modes of the two lasers were made to overlap in the PPLN crystal by using a single-mode optical fiber. The pulse-mode SFG with pulsed- and CW-mode lasers was successfully observed in the spectral and time domains. These results are expected to be applicable in various ways, such as optical frequency measurement and high-resolution laser spectroscopy studies using optical frequency combs.

  • To evaluate the usefulness if functional MR imaging(MRI) for the determination of language dominance system and to assess differences in the visual and auditory instrument language generation task according to activation task or activated area. Functional maps of the language area were obtained during visual and auditory instructions in word generation tasks in 6 healthy volunteer with right-handness were examined on a 1.5T scanner and the EPI BOLD technique, and three pulse sequence technique get of the true axial planes. Both task consisted of 96 phases including 6 activations and rests contents. Postprocessing were done on MRDx program by using cross correlation method. Two task compare the blain activation area surveyed of 1anguage lateralization index. To evaluated of the detection rates of Broca. Wernicke, pre-frontal lobe, Supplementary Motor Area (SMA) and pre-motor cortex areas and the differences of language lateraliaztion among two word generation task To lateralization index survey in 1anguage area on right and left in brain get to activation area pixel in brain. Compared to visual and auditory instrument task in the language areas get to the lateralization index. Two language generation task high detection rates of Broca and Wernicke areas. The visual instruction no detected in the auditory area, and auditory instruction no detected in the visual area. There was statistics significant different of them among language generation task. 1'his indicated that language area obtained image of the brain functional MR imaging usefulness in the visual and auditory task instrument.

  • Increasing demand on precision machining using computerized numerical control (CNC) machines have necessitated that the tool move not only with the smallest possible position error but also with smoothly varying feedrates in 3-dimensional (3D) space. This paper presents the simultaneous 3D machining process investigated using a retrofitted PC-NC milling machine. To achieve the simultaneous 3-axis motions, a new precision interpolation algorithm for 3D Non Uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS) curve is proposed. With this accurate and efficient algorithm for the generation of complex 3D shapes, a real-time NURBS interpolator was developed using a PC and the simultaneous 3D machining was accomplished satisfactorily.

  • When driven with a short (less than 30$\mu\textrm{s}$) low-energy pulse, the semiconductor bridge(SCB) produces a hot plasma that ignites explosive. The shape of plasma was observed using ultra high speed camera, the generation and the duration time of plasma were estimated by analyzing the ultra high speed camera image. The more energy supplied, the sooner the formation of the plasma was, and the size of the plasma was increased in proportion. The voltage variation of the bridge was measured and analyzed by comparing with the ultra high speed camera image.

  • We have experimentally observed and theoretically analyzed the gain dependent optimum repetition rates of a hybrid-type active and passive mode locked laser pulses in an erbium-doped fiber laser of the figure-of-eight geometry by utilizing a nonlinear amplifier loop mirror (NALM) as a saturable absorber and a directional-coupler type electro-optic modulator as an active mode locker. Transform-limited mode-locked pulses of about 10 ps width were obtained at repetition rates which correspond to harmonics of the cavity fundamental frequency and depend on the optical amplifier gain in the NALM.

  • MSK waveforms are advantageous from the point of view of reduced interchannel interference. MSK waveform, however, is more difficult to generate than PSK due to its complex pulse shape. A SAW filter is ideally suited for generation of MSK waveform because it provides accurate control of the required impulse responese and linear phase at high frequncies. In this paper, an implementation of SAW based PSK-MSK convert filter, which can easily convert the high frequency PSK waveform to MSK, is studied.

  • Channel-stacked 3D NAND flash memory is very promising candidate for the next-generation NAND flash memory. However, there is an inherent issue on cell size variation between stacked channels due to the declined etch slope. In this paper, the effect of the cell variation on the incremental step pulse programming (ISPP) characteristics is studied with 3D TCAD simulation. The ISPP slope degradation of elliptical channel is investigated. To solve that problem, a new programming method is proposed, and we can alleviate the $V_T$ variation among cells and reduce the total programming time.

  • We report on a new type of a flat and thin display with a secondary emission electron source. In this display device electrons are multiplied between two secondary emission plates under a high frequency electric field. This principle has a few important advantages over a field emission display: the emission comes from flat plates, which reduces the life-time problems of ion bombardment of field emitter tips. Furthermore, the electron emission is space charge limited which gives a uniform electron distribution. The electrons are extracted from the source and accelerated to a phosphor screen to generate light. Gray levels are made by pulse width modulation.

  • Propagation of an intense laser pulse through fully ionized plasma has been an interesting topic in many fields. It includes laser-driven electron accelerators,(1) generation of high harmonics,(2) soft x-ray laser development(3) and so on. Specifically, in the application of laser-driven electron accelerators a large laser-plasma interaction length is required to get sufficient acceleration energy of electron. (omitted)

  • An optical transmitter, which is a key component of the optical transmission system, converts the electrical signal to optical signal and consists of a high-speed current-pulse driver for laser diode and low-speed feedback loops that stabilize optical power against aging, power supply voltage fluctuations, and ambient temperature changes. In this paper, the power-stabilizing part, which forms the bulk of the optical transmitter circuitry was designed in integrted circuits. Operational amplifiers and reference voltage generation circuits, which were identified as key building blocks for the power-stabilizing feedback loops, were designed and were subsequently verified through HSPICE simulations. The designed operational amplifier consists of a two-stage folded cascode amplifier and class AB output stage, whereas the reference voltage is obtained by bandgap reference circuits. Finally the power-stabilizing circuitry was laid out based on 3\mu$m CMOS design rules for fabrication.
