Evaluation plays an essential role in design activity. Many theorist have agreed that designing involves problem solving or decision making. In evaluation, designers attempt to determine the value of a particular proposal arrived at by synthesis. And the results of designing, the product, is evaluated twice, objectively and subjectively.Alternatives in $$\mu$ti-objective decision problems generally possess numerous attributes by which they can be described and compared. The evaluation factors include all attributes that have levels specified by quantitative and qualitative objectives. However since qualitiative factors are difficult to quantify as $$\mu$eral estmates, these factors have tended to be ignored without regard for their importance to human content. Therefore we need some study that convert qualitative attributes into quantitative scale values. Following to Thurstone' s Psychological scaling methods (The method of successive intervals), attribute values of TV set are assigned by rating scale methods. The method of successive intervals, like the method of equal-appearing intervals, requires but a single judgement from each subject for each statement to be scaled. It is, therefore, a convinient method to use when the number of to be scaled is large. We make the assumtion that those cu$$\mu$ative proportion distributions are normal for each statement when they are projected on the unknown psychological continuum. In this study, we have determined the scale values of 42 statements of TV set by the method of successive intervals. Then we can apply a test of internal consistency similar to that used with the method of paired comparisons. We have as our absolute average deviation, -1.748/252= -0.0069. We have reason to believe that our scale values are consistent with the empirical data, because these discrepanicies are very small.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of body weight, perception of body shape and satisfaction with body shape on obesity stress and self-esteem among middle school students. The participants in this study were 446 middle school students in K-city. The major results of this study are as follows. First, male students demonstrated higher obesity rates than female students, and female students considered themselves to be fatter and less satisfied with their body shape than male students. Female students had significantly more obesity-related stress than male students. Second, there were significant differences in physical obesity stress according to body weight status among male and female students, and there was statistically significant difference in psychological obesity stress according to body weight status among male students. Male and female students who considered themselves to be fatter and less satisfied with their body shape suffered from high obesity stress. Third, there was no significant difference in self-esteem according to body weight status, but self-esteem was affected by perception and satisfaction of body shape; male and female students who considered themselves to be fatter and less satisfied with their body shape showed low levels of self-esteem. As the result of regression analysis, psychological obesity stress was the strongest factor in explaining self-esteem among all students, and satisfaction of body shape was also found to be a significant variable among female students.

Purpose: This study was performed to determine the physical and psychological effects of an urban forest-walking program for office workers. For many workers, sedentary lifestyles can lead to low levels of physical activity causing various health problems despite an increased interest in health promotion. Methods: Fifty four office workers participated in this study. They were assigned to two groups (experimental group and control group) in random order and the experimental group performed 5 weeks of walking exercise based on Information-Motivation-Behavioral skills Model. The data were collected from October to November 2014. SPSS 21.0 was used for the statistical analysis. Results: The results showed that the urban forest walking program had positive effects on the physical activity level (U=65.00, p <.001), health promotion behavior (t= - 2.20, p =.033), and quality of life (t= - 2.42, p =.020). However, there were no statistical differences in depression, waist size, body mass index, blood pressure, or bone density between the groups. Conclusion: The current findings of the study suggest the forest-walking program may have positive effects on improving physical activity, health promotion behavior, and quality of life. The program can be used as an effective and efficient strategy for physical and psychological health promotion for office workers.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare levels of postpartum fatigue, depression, childcare stress, and maternal identity according to postpartum period between primiparas who used Sanhujori facilities and those who did not. Methods: The research design was a longitudinal descriptive study using self-report questionnaires. Participants were 55 healthy primiparas who delivered at one of 3 hospitals in Chungnam, 21 using Sanhujori facilities and 34 not using these facilities during the first three weeks after childbirth. Data were collected from October 2008 to April 2009 at three measurement points, 2-4 days after childbirth (T1), 4-6 weeks (T2), and 12-14 weeks (T3). Data were analyzed using the SPSS 17.0 WIN program. Results: There was a significant difference in childcare stress between the two groups at 4-6 weeks after childbirth. Postpartum depression and childcare stress at 4-6 weeks were significantly higher than those of the other postpartum periods, while maternal identity was significantly lower. Conclusion: Child care stress is the most important issue among women who use Sanhujori facilities and the 4-6 week period after childbirth is very difficult to primiparas. These results indicate that nursing interventions for primiparas in Sanhujori facilities should focus on reducing childcare stress. Furthermore proper follow-up programs at 4-6 weeks are needed to decrease the difficulties in adjustment by new mothers.
The purpose of this paper is to develop and suggest an integrative leadership contingency framework of leadership that will state the situational and psychological factors under which leadership effect should be maximized. Our leadership model presents that situational factors, including development, circumstances urgency and task structure, proposes which of transformational, transactional, empowering, and authentic leadership solutions. Also, our integrative leadership contingency model in turn results in a combination of the level of follower commitment, intrinsic motivation, and individual creativity based on inductive research method. This integrative leadership model suggested here has significant contributions for leadership effectiveness and future leadership research agenda. Next leadership research could experimentally examine the structural relationships between each of the leadership styles and levels of contingency and psychological factors of followers.

Purpose: We have implemented a multi-disciplinary Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) protocol to prevent individuals who sustained alcohol-related traumatic injuries. We therefore conducted this single-center, prospective, randomized, controlled trial (RCT) to assess its efficacy. Methods: All the enrolled patients (n=30) were randomized to either the SBIRT group or the control group. In the current RCT, the proportion of the patients who reduced the amount of alcohol consumption and those who received a specialized treatment served as primary outcome measures. Moreover, changes in a 3-item version of the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test Consumption (AUDIT-C), Severity of Dependence Scale (SDS) and Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K-6) scores at 3 months from baseline served as secondary outcome measures. Results: At 3 months, the proportion of the patients who reduced the amount of alcohol consumption was significantly higher in the SBIRT group as compared with the control group (86.7% vs. 57.1%, p=0.02). Moreover, the proportion of the patients who received a specialized treatment was also significantly higher as compared with the control group (26.7% vs. 1.4%, p=0.01). Furthermore, there were significant differences in changes in the AUDIT, SDS and K-6 scores at 3 months from baseline between the two groups (p<0.05). Conclusions: In conclusion, our results indicate that the SBIRT is effective in reducing hazardous and harmful levels of drinking, the degree of alcohol dependence and that of psychological distress in at-risk drinkers.

Purpose: This study investigated the effectiveness of meaning-centered psychotherapy (MCP), which is known to be a helpful psychotherapeutic intervention in distressing conditions, for patients with pancreatobiliary cancer. Materials and Methods: We recruited 37 patients with pancreatobiliary cancer from three university general hospitals and assessed their psychological characteristics. Patients who reported clinically significant emotional distress were recommended to undergo MCP. Patients who consented to MCP were provided four sessions of the therapy. Patient psychological characteristics were assessed again 2 months after MCP. For statistical comparison, outcome variables included anxiety, depression, mental adjustment to cancer, and quality of life (QoL), as well as the degree of stress and physical symptoms. Results: Sixteen patients completed the MCP and the final assessment 2 months later. In the initial assessment, the patients receiving MCP showed higher levels of anxiety and depression than those not receiving MCP, and QoL was also lower in terms of role function, emotional function, social function, and global QoL. At the 2-month follow-up, the MCP group showed a significant improvement in anxiety (p=0.007), depression (p=0.010), and anxious preoccupation (p<0.001). In addition, QoL significantly improved in the MCP group, while there was no significant change in the non-MCP group. Conclusion: In this study, MCP showed potential therapeutic benefits against emotional distress in patients with pancreatobiliary cancer, improving their QoL.
This study tried to understand the mediating role of stress perception and the moderating role of mindfulness in the process of psychological alienation affecting college students' smartphone addiction tendency. Two hundred seventeen university students from Chungcheongnam-do answered the questionnaire. The research model was analyzed with model 7 of Hayes' PROCESS Macro 4.0. When synthesizing analysis results, feelings of alienation mediate stress responses or directly influence smartphone addiction tendencies. At this time, people with high levels of mindfulness tended to lower their smartphone addiction tendencies by alleviating their stress response compared to those with a low level of mindfulness. The implication of this study is that it revealed the psychological process that causes alienation to induce smartphone addiction tendency through stress responses, and that mindfulness plays a role in alleviating stress response and lowering smartphone addiction tendency. In the future, it is necessary to apply the model of this study to people diagnosed with smartphone addiction.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to test a brief modified version of intervention for problem drinking monitoring program for bereaved men who lost their loved one. Methods: Inclusion criteria were experiencing the recent loss of a spouse and providing informed consent for participation. Of the 32 referred individuals who met the inclusion criteria, 26 participants were recruited. Study participants were randomly assigned into Alcohol problem monitoring(APM) group (N=13) or comparison group (N=13). Results: Older men receiving APM substantial decreased in problem drinking during three months of intervention. Improvement over time was observed on the outcomes, particularly in the Short Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test-Geriatric Version(SMAST-G). Conclusion: The findings that a modified version of APM for bereavement helped improve complicated grief symptoms and social impairments and reduce levels of problem drinking, provide important insights into the interventions for psychological and alcohol-related difficulties in bereavement.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing nursing students' caring efficiency. Methods: This study included 212 nursing students from three University nursing departments in Busan metropolitan city. Data were collected from September 1 to September 29, 2021, using self-report questionnaires. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression analyses were conducted with SPSS version 24.0. Results: Positive psychological capital and interpersonal competence on the relationship and character of nursing students were positively correlated with caring efficiency. The variables affecting the caring efficiency of the subjects were character (β=.60, p<.001), amount of participation in a character development program (5 times or more) (β=.16, p=.023), levels of stress (moderate β=.13, p=.037; low β=.15, p=.015), motivation to apply to a nursing program (β=.12, p=.024), and volunteer experience (β=.11, p=.038). The total explanatory power of the variables was 50.0% (F=14.69, p<.001). Conclusion: Character was one of the biggest influential factors on caring efficiency. In order to improve nursing students' caring efficiency, above all, it is necessary to make efforts to raise the level of individual character.
