  • Purpose: We explored emergency nurses' experiences of coping with moral distress. Methods: A qualitative research design was used. We conducted in-depth interviews with 11 nurses working at a regional emergency medical center in South Korea. Data were analyzed using conventional content analysis. Results: The main theme of nurses' coping with moral distress was "a passive emotion-based response." We also extracted three categories of coping strategies: "uncritical adaptation to anguished situation," "self-justification for not acting," and "flight from ethical decision making." Conclusion: Nurses coped with moral distress in a passive and emotional way, possibly because of perceived incompetence and compliance to an organizational hierarchy. The findings imply that effective approaches to addressing moral distress in emergency nurses are needed at the individual and organizational levels.

  • Purpose: The study examined differences in stress between the parents of sick newborns. Methods: Participants were the mothers (n=57) and fathers (n=57) of newborns in NICU of six university hospitals. An established stress measurement tool (Miles and Carter, 1993) was used. Results: Fathers and mothers displayed the highest stress scores (4.44 and 4.67, respectively) when the baby looked in pain. Maternal overall stress scores were significantly higher than paternal scores. Conclusions: Mothers and fathers experience differing levels of stress concerning their newborn. Further studies are needed to develop customized stress management intervention programs for parents of newborns in the NICU.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of aroma inhalation on stress responses (physical symptoms, levels of anxiety, perceived stresses)of nursing students. Method: This study was a quasi-experimental research using anon-equivalent pre-post design and was conducted from June 1 to June 5, 2002. The subjects consisted of 77 junior nursing students who were divided into 39 experimental group members and 38 control group members. A pretest and Post-test were conducted to measure body symptoms, the level of anxiety, and the level of perceived stress. In the experimental group, aromas were given using an aroma lamp, lavender, peppermint, rosemary and Clary-Sage. In the control group, the treatment was not administered. Result: As a result of administering aroma inhalation to nursing students, their physical symptoms decreased, their anxiety scores were low, and their perceived stress scores were low, showing that aroma inhalation could be a very effective stress management method. Conclusion: Nursing educators should play an important role in contributing to college students' physical and psychological health by helping enhance their recognition of stress management and effectively relieving their stress using essential oils.

  • Personality characteristics of TMD patients was studied through the SCL-90-R. III patients were subjected at the Orofacial Pain Clinic, Dept. of Oral Medicine, PNUH, from 1991 to 1996. All the TMD patients were divided and analyzied comparatively by the ways of duration of present illness, severity of symptoms, associated symptoms, traumatic contributing factor, history of treatment, treatment modality, response to therapy and treatment outcomes. The obtained results were as follows; 1. Mean value of T-scores on 9 basic scales in all the groups was within normal range. 2. There showed higher levels of T-scores in the chronic group, the unimproved group and the discontinued group. 3. T-scores in the patients with severe symptom, associated symptoms, and history of treatment revealed higher.

  • This study was done to investigate whether cholic acid derivatives have anti-stress activity in various stress models. Two cholic acid derivatives, ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) and tauroursodeoxycholic acid (WDCA), were used. physical, psychological, chemical and environmental stress models were performed. Adrenal weight, serum glucose levels and ALP activity were elevated in restraint stress model, but this elevation was prevented by UDCA treatment. Moreover, UDCA and TUDCA inhibited exploratory and spontaneous movements in oscillation stress model. In alcohol-induced stress model, TUDCA improved rotarod performance. UDCA and TUDCA significantly reduced the involution of lymphoid organs and the increment of WBC counts in cold stress model. These findings suggest that choric acid derivatives have antistress effects in various stress models.

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting the depressive mood experience of adults in their 20s. Methods: This study is a descriptive survey that conducted a secondary analysis using data from the 2017 Community Health Survey, which is conducted annually in Korea. The study targets 21,324 adults in their 20s. Data analysis was conducted after creating a composite sample plan file that reflected layering variables, colony variables, and weights. Results: Factors affecting the depressive mood experience were suicide thought experience, subjective stress level, gender, monthly household income, smoking status, subjective health level, breakfast status, participation in social activities, and whether the Internet, games, and smartphone interfered with daily life (p<0.05). Conclusion: It is necessary to establish and realize a system that enables early detection and support of depression and suicide high-risk groups at the individual, home, community, and national levels.

  • Flow is an optimal psychological state that people experience when engaged in an activity that is both appropriately challenging to one's skill level, often resulting in immersion and concentrated focus on a task. Through the study model, we found that Flow can result in deep learning and high levels of learning performance.

  • Assimilation is defined as the extent to which the use of a technology diffuses across organizational work processes and becomes routinized in the activities associated with those processes. Assimilation is an important construct in the casual chain of influence from the organizational adoption of an information technology to the evidence of its impacts on business performance. Given a wide range of experiences with the effective assimilation of Web technologies. there is a need to discover how firms can institutionally encourage the managerial activities that will result in greater levels of technology assimilation. This study analyzes or shows which organizational and strategical factors like management belief. management participation. strategic investment rationale and coordination mechanism have impact on the assimilation of web technologies. Moreover. this research is tried under the different types of firms. manufacturing and service firms. The result shows that the management belief among the determinants had a significant effect on the assimilation of web technology. However. the result would be generalized with the inclusion of the psychological factors to the current model.

  • This paper presents a theoretical perspective that integrates elements of social.demographi.family environmental and psychological explanations of spousal conflict resolution techniques. In particular, the relationships between the childhood family violence and severe marital violence in the next generation and the lack of economix resources are examined as risk factors in violence behavior. Amodification of the Conflict Tactics scale is used to measure the incidence and 1-year period prevalence of three levels : reasoning, verbal agressioni, and violence. The data are drawn from area sampling of Taegu 673 women who were married of had been living with a male partner during the study period.

  • This study tried to find out the effect to types of test items upon the momentum effect. The previous studies showed that the momentum effect is influenced by stduents' congnitive levels and the abstractness of test items. In this study focused on the types of test items The test items are divided into 4 different types of quantitative and qualitative, verbal and image. The result showed that qualitative items showed a longer momentum effect than quantitative ones. The image items and verbal items did not show significant difference in the duration of momentum effect. The interpretation of this would need a careful psychological analysis. Anyhow, this result reconfirmed the existence of the momentum effect and showed that the study on the momentum effect could be a Significant research paradigm.
