  • In this paper, we obtain an analytical solution for an unsolved definite integral RC (m, n) from a 1915 paper of Srinivasa Ramanujan. We obtain our solution using the hypergeometric approach and an infinite series decomposition identity. Also, we give some generalizations of Ramanujan's integral RC (m, n) defined in terms of the ordinary hypergeometric function 2F3 with suitable convergence conditions. Moreover as applications of our result we obtain nine new infinite summation formulas associated with the hypergeometric functions 0F1, 1F2 and 2F3.

  • Protein secondary structure is important for the study of protein evolution, structure and function of proteins which play crucial roles in most of biological processes. This paper try to effectively extract protein secondary structure information from the large protein structure database in order to predict the protein secondary structure of a query protein sequence. To find more remote homologous sequences of a query sequence in the protein database, we used PSI-BLAST which can perform gapped iterative searches and use profiles consisting of homologous protein sequences of a query protein. The secondary structures of the homologous sequences are weighed combined to the secondary structure prediction according to their relative degree of similarity to the query sequence. When homologous sequences with a neural network predictor were used, the accuracies were higher than those of current state-of-art techniques, achieving a Q3 accuracy of 92.28% and a Q8 accuracy of 88.79%.

  • Polymer membranes such as poly(1-trimethylsilyl-1-propyne)-polyetherimide (PTMSP-PEI) and poly(dimethylsiloxane)- polyetherimide (PDMS-PEI) composite membrane were prepared by solution casting method. To investigate the characteristics of these membranes, the analytical methods such as FT-IR, $^1H-NMR,$ DSC, TGA, GPC, and SEM have been utilized. The number-average (equation omitted) and weight-average (equation omitted) molecular weight of PTMSP were 477,920 and 673,329 respectively. The glass transition temperature ($T_g$) of PTMSP was $224^{\circ}C.$ The separation of the gas mixture ($H_2/N_2$) through the composite membranes were studied as a function of pressure. The separation factor (${\alpha}, {\beta},$ quation omitted) of the composite membranes used in this work increased as the pressure of permeation cell increased. The real separation factor (${\alpha}$), head separation factor (${\beta}$), and tail separation factor (equation omitted) of PTMSP-PEI composite membrane were 2.28, 1.17, and 1.96 respectively at ${\Delta}P$ 30psi and $25^{\circ}C.$ (${\alpha}, {\beta}$ and equation omitted of PDMS-PEI composite membrane were 3.70, 1.53, and 2.42 respectively at ${\Delta}P$ 30psi and $25^{\circ}C$.

  • The protein secondary structures are important information for studying the evolution, structure and function of proteins. Recently, deep learning methods have been actively applied to predict the secondary structure of proteins using only protein sequence information. In these methods, widely used input features are protein profiles transformed from protein sequences. In this paper, to obtain an effective protein profiles, protein profiles were constructed using protein sequence search methods such as PSI-BLAST and HHblits. We adjust the similarity threshold for determining the homologous protein sequence used in constructing the protein profile and the number of iterations of the profile construction using the homologous sequence information. We used the protein profiles as inputs to convolutional neural networks and recurrent neural networks to predict the secondary structures. The protein profile that was created by adding evolutionary information only once was effective.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate Korean Wechsler Intelligence profiles and specific abilities related to attention problem of children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Methods : The Korean Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-fourth edition (K-WISC-IV) and Advanced Test of Attention (ATA) were administered to 91 children and adolescents (age $8.5{\pm}2.6$ years, 73 boys) with ADHD. Pearson correlation and independent t-tests were used. Results : The means of Working Memory Index (WMI) and Processing Speed Index (PSI) showed a score of low average in K-WISC-IV. WMI scores for the K-WISC-IV showed clinically significant correlations with omission errors, commission errors, and response time variability on auditory ATA. PSI scores also showed significant correlations with response time and variability on visual ATA. In addition, significantly lower digit span backward scores were observed in hyperactive-impulsive/combined subtypes compared to inattentive subtype (t=3.60, p<.001). Conclusion : Children with ADHD showed significantly lower scores in WMI and PSI which were clinically correlated with ATA scores, and hyperactive-impulsive/combined subtypes showed poorer working memory functions in WMI. Follow-up studies are proposed.

  • The accuracy of wavelet approximation at resolution h = $2^{-k}$ to a smooth function f is limited by O($h^M$), where M is the number of vanishing moments of the mother wavelet ${\psi}$; that is, the approximation order of wavelet approximation is M - 1. High accuracy points of wavelet approximation are of interest in some applications such as signal processing and numerical approximation. In this paper, we prove the scaling and translating properties of high accuracy points of wavelet approximation. To illustrate the results in this paper, we also present two examples of high accuracy points of wavelet approximation.

  • This paper presents an automatic calibration technique for piezoelectric low pressure transducer, which is useful to measure a pressure within 500 psi. This system with automatic calibration function and error correction algorithm generates standard dynamic pressure for the calibration of sensor. With the compensation for the offset voltage and the pressure error, the accuracy and the usefulness of the proposed scheme is validated.

  • In this paper we establish two common fixed point theorems in fuzzy metric spaces. These theorems are generalisations of the Banach contraction mapping principle and the Kannan's fixed point theorem respectively in fuzzy metric spaces. Our result is also supported by examples.

  • Generalized Menger space introduced by the present authors is a generalization of Menger space as well as a probabilistic generalization of generalized metric space introduced by Branciari [Publ. Math. Debrecen 57 (2000), no. 1-2, 31-37]. In this paper we prove a Kannan type fixed point theorem in generalized Menger spaces. We also support our result by an example.
