  • In this paper, we present a new decimated Gold-like m-sequence with a binary m-sequence of period $2^n-1$. And we show that the cross-correlation function of the proposed sequence is four-valued.

A 40 Gb/s Clock and Data Recovery Module with Improved Phase-Locked Loop Circuits

  • A 40 Gb/s clock and data recovery (CDR) module for a fiber-optic receiver with improved phase-locked loop (PLL) circuits has been successfully implemented. The PLL of the CDR module employs an improved D-type flip-flop frequency acquisition circuit, which helps to stabilize the CDR performance, to obtain faster frequency acquisition, and to reduce the time of recovering the lock state in the event of losing the lock state. The measured RMS jitter of the clock signal recovered from 40 Gb/s pseudo-random binary sequence ($2^{31}-1$) data by the improved PLL clock recovery module is 210 fs. The CDR module also integrates a 40 Gb/s D-FF decision circuit, demonstrating that it can produce clean retimed data using the recovered clock.

  • In this study, we proposed a test to explore the function of Vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) which subjected to an angular head acceleration using pseudo random binary stimulus. Resultant eye movements(horizontal vestibular nystagmus) were digitized, filtered and transformed into the frequency domain. At first we evaluated the transfer function of V.0.R(gain and phase) and the coherence function between stimulus and response by linear frequency methods in view of the quantitative analysis since the vestibulo-ocular reflex can be considered as a linear system. at least, in normals. Secondly. with the proposed test, we showed a direct possibility that we could interpret the pathological situation quantitatively as an illustration of clinical application.

  • 본 연구에서는 RPP(Randomized Pulse Position PWM)의 특징과 RSF(Random Switching Frequency PWM)의 특징을 모두 갖는 하이브리드 RPWM (Random PWM)기법을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법은 PRBS(Pseudo-Random Binary Sequence)로 동작하는 시프트 레지스터의 lead-lag 랜덤 비트를 사용한다는 점에서 종전의 방법과 동일하나, 이와 논리적인 비교를 위해 랜덤 주파수의 삼각파를 이용한다는 점에서 종전의 방법과 다르다. 본 연구의 타당성을 확인하기 위하여 인버터 기반의 3상 유도모터 구동시스템에 제안된 방법을 적용하였다. 그 결과 종전의 방법에 비하여 인버터 구동 유도모터의 전압 및 전류의 고조파 스펙트럼의 광 대역화에 탁월한 효과가 있음을 입증할 수 있었다.

A Single-ended Simultaneous Bidirectional Transceiver in 65-nm CMOS Technology

  • A simultaneous bidirectional transceiver over a single wire has been developed in a 65 nm CMOS technology for a command and control bus. The echo signals of the simultaneous bidirectional link are cancelled by controlling the decision level of receiver comparators without power-hungry operational amplifier (op-amp) based circuits. With the clock information embedded in the rising edges of the signals sent from the source side to the sink side, the data is recovered by an open-loop digital circuit with 20 times blind oversampling. The data rate of the simultaneous bidirectional transceiver in each direction is 75 Mbps and therefore the overall signaling bandwidth is 150 Mbps. The measured energy efficiency of the transceiver is 56.7 pJ/b and the bit-error-rate (BER) is less than $10^{-12}$ with $2^7-1$ pseudo-random binary sequence (PRBS) pattern for both signaling directions.

  • Computer-Generated Hologram (CGH) is generally made by Fourier Transform. CGH is made by an optical reconstruction. Computer-Generated Pseudo Hologram (CGPH) is made up Complex Hadamard Transform instead of CGH which is made by the Fourier Transform. CGPH differs from CGH in point of view the possibility of optical reconstruction. There is an advantage that it cannot be optical reconstruction, in other word, physical leakage of the confidential information is impossible. In this paper, a binary image was converted in Complex Hadamard Transform, and CGPH was made. Improvement of the reconstructed image from CGPH is done by error diffusion method and iterative method. The result that the reconstructed image is improved is shown.

  • The effects of the alloying elements and cooling rates on the formation of phosphide eutectics of compacted vermicular graphite cast irons containing copper, tin, molybdenum for producing pearlitic matrix, and also containing phosphorus and boron for increasing wear resistance, were investigated. The liquidus phosphide eutectic was found to solidify as a pseudo-binary phosphide eutectic, but with increasing of the cooling rate non-equlibrium phosphide eutectic with needle type carbide could be formed. However, the liquidus phosphide eutectic containing both phosphorus and carbide-forming boron was found to solidify always as a non-equlibrium phosphide eutectic with coarse carbide, independent from the cooling rate. It was also confirmed that the tiny isolated phase observed by SEM was gamma iron solid solution with phosphorus, silicon, molybdenum and the matrix containing these tiny islands was phosphide phase containing manganese and molybdenum. The addition of copper was found to decrease the tendency of forming ledeburitic carbides in the phosphide eutectic.

  • A lot of recent researches have shown that a Pseudo Random Binary Signal is a quite effective test signal to measure the impulse response of a plant. Generally speaking, however, such a response itself is not satisfactory to determine the appropriate control parameters or control inputs. Here, the author intends to estimate the unknown parameters of the First Order Plant with Dead Time by means of correlation method using M-sequence signal. The time constant T and the dead time L of the plant are eatimated with one tracking loop by automatically adjusting delay time .tau. of M-sequence signal according to variations of T and L. In this paper, a three level M-sequence signal is used as a test signal in order to avoid troublesome operations to calculate partial derivatives of a given performance index with respect to the parameters which are usually required in the Model Method. Several experiments with analogue computer using low pass filters as averaging circuits showed good results as expected.

  • 본 연구에서는 LF2407 DSP제어기를 사용한 혼합형 랜덤 펄스폭 변조기법(HRPWM : Hybrid Random PWM)을 제안하였다. 제안된 HRPWM은 PRBS (Pseudo-Random Binary Sequence)로 동작하는 시프트 레지스터의 lead-lag 랜덤 비트를 사용한다는 점에서 종전의 방법과 동일하다. 그러나 Lead-Lag 랜덤 비트와 논리적인 비교를 하기 위해 고정 주파수의 캐리어를 사용 하지 않고 랜덤 주파수의 삼각파 캐리어를 이용한다는 점이 종전의 방법과 다르다. LF2407 DSP에 의하여 랜덤 수 및 PRBS 그리고 3상 기준 정현파를 실시간으로 발생하며, DSP외부의 주파수 변조기 MAX038에 의하여 랜덤 주파수의 캐리어를 발생한다. 제안된 기법을 LF2407기반의 3상 유도모터 구동장치에 적용한 결과, 모터 전류파형은 종전의 방법과 유사한 파형을 유지하면서도 모터 전압 및 전류의 고조파 스펙트럼은 광대역 주파수로 분포시킬 수 있었다.

  • A new process using rapid solidification (melt spinning method) followed by pressing and sintering was investigated to produce the n-type thermoelectric ribbons of 90% $Bi_2Te_3$+10% $Bi_2Se_3$ doped with $CdCl_2$. Quenched ribbons are very brittle and consisted of homogeneous $Bi_2Te_3-Bi_2Se_3$ pseudo-binary solid solutions. Property variations of the materials was investigated as a function of variables, such as dopant $CdCl_2$ quantity and sintering temperature. When the process parameters were optimized, the maximum figure of merit was $2.146{\times}10^{-3}K^{-1}$.
