The author measured the degree of development and the eruption pattern of first permanent molars with orthopantomography in 553 Korean children(male; 302, female; 251) from 4 to 9 years old. The orthopantomographs were obtained from dept. of pedodontics, college of dentistry, Seoul National University. The results of the studies were as follows: 1. Upper first permanent molars were erupted with distal inclination of about 30 degrees in the early stage and they gradually moved in the mesial direction by bodily movement of the tooth to be in contact with the disto-proximal surface of primary secondary molars in the late stage. 2. Lower first permanent molars were erupted with mesial inclination in the early stage and moved mesially by tipping movement of the tooth to be in contact with the disto proximal surface of the second primary molars in the late stage. 3. The eruptive forces were considered to be main etiologic factors of space closure after the premature loss of primary molars.

A new class of nonlinear set-valued mixed variational inclusions involving (A, ${\eta}$)-accretive mappings in Banach spaces is introduced and studied, which includes many kind of variational inclusion (inequality) and complementarity problems as special cases. By using the resolvent operator associated with (A, ${\eta}$)-accretive operator due to Lan-Cho-Verma, the existence of solution for this kind of variational inclusion is proved, and a new hybrid proximal point algorithm is established and suggested, the convergence and stability theorems of iterative sequences generated by new iterative algorithms are also given in q-uniformly smooth Banach spaces.

Normal Albino rats were received glycerin via subcutaneously and Staphylococcus aureus intravenously. The microorganism was coagulase-positive and non-hemolytic. The rats received glycerin alone showed an acute tubular nephrosis, and the others such as glycer in induced nephrotic rats showed a number of different findings: At the first hours of the bacterial injection, in medulla, the bacterial clumps and inflammatory cell infiltration, and microabscesses with retrogressive changes of proximal convoluted tubulles were observed. The suppurative inflammation was observed in days. Five weeks after the initial innoulation of the organism kidney was shown restoration to a histologically normal cortex. The proliferation of fibrous connective tissue and small numbers of chronic inflammatory cells were observed in the medulla where an acute inflammatory process was enhanced presumably. On the other hand, the Albino rats administered Staphyloceccus aureus alone resulted in n moderate degree of vacuolization in proximal convoluted tubules and a number of casts in the early stage. No, bacterial clumps and microabscesses were observed in the rats.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of scaffolding instruction on motivated learning strategies and academic achievement. Subjects of this study were 96 middle school first grade students in Busan, who were randomly assigned to two experimental group and one control group. The one experimental group had received scaffolding instruction by teacher, and the other experimental group had received scaffolding instruction by the interaction of peers. Control group were given traditional lessons only by the method of lecture. Students were given English Academic Achievement Test, Motivated Strategies of Learning Questionnaire. T test and ANOVA were used to analyze date. The results of this study showed that scaffolding instruction by ZPD turned out to have a positive influence on motivated learning strategies and academic achievement.

The present study was undetertaken to demonstrate whether or not angiotensin II activates a phopholipase D in rabbit kidney proximal tubule cells. By measuring the formation of [$^3H$] phosphatidic acid and [$^3H$]diacylglycerol. This result suggests that some phosphatidic acid seems to be formed directly from phosphatidylcholin by the action of phopholipase D, not from the action of diacylglycerol kinase on the diacylglycerol. In addition the other mechanisms by which phospholipase D is activated was examined. We have found that phospholipase D was activited by extracellular calium ion. It has also been shown that angiotensin II may activate phosphoilpase D through protein kinase C-independent pathway.

Most simple bone cysts are found in the metaphysis of the long bone, such as proximal humerus or proximal femur. Appropriate treatment is aspiration of the cyst followed by instillation of methylprednisolone or curettage with bone graft. We experienced 1 case of the simple bone cyst of the metatarsal bone. This case was treated by curettage and inserting allograft into the defect.

Hallux valgus is a deformity characterized by lateral deviation of the great toe and medial deviation of the first metatarsal. When planning an operative treatment, it is important to realize that the deformity is tridimensional and diverse. Operative techniques include medial eminence resection, distal soft tissue procedure, first metatarsal osteotomy (distal, diaphyseal, proximal, or multiple), proximal phalanx osteotomy, arthrodesis (first metatarsophalangeal or metatarsocuneiform joint), and so on. Among these techniques, osteotomy is the main procedure for correcting the hallux valgus. The objective of this article is to describe the characteristics and recent advancements made for corrective osteotomies in the hallux valgus. The pathophysiology of the hallux valgus is also described.

An approximate alternating linearization decomposition method, for minimizing the sum of two convex functions with some separable structures, is presented in this paper. It can be viewed as an extension of the method with exact solutions proposed by Kiwiel, Rosa and Ruszczynski(1999). In this paper we use inexact optimal solutions instead of the exact ones that are not easily computed to construct the linear models and get the inexact solutions of both subproblems, and also we prove that the inexact optimal solution tends to proximal point, i.e., the inexact optimal solution tends to optimal solution.

In this paper, we introduce and study a new system of variational inclusions with B-monotone operators in Banach spaces. By using the proximal mapping associated with B-monotone operator, we construct a new iterative algorithm for approximating the solution of this system of variational inclusions. We also prove the existence of solutions and the convergence of the sequences generated by the algorithm for this system of variational inclusions. The results presented in this paper extend and improve some known results in the literature.

Clinically, proximal bone resorption in the femur is frequently seen postoperatively on the follow up XI-rays after total hip replacement (THR). We developed the finite element model of cementless THR. The model is two dimensional side plate model, whereby the three dimensional structural integrity of the bone can be accounted for by a separate two dimensional mesh, a side plate. The subject of this article is the development and application of this two dimensional side plate FEM to study the reverse effect of the various degree of bone resorption of femur after THR. The results of this study indicates that 1) two dimensional side plate model is good and simple alternative to complex three dimensional model and 2) the severity of the proximal bone resorption has the effect of more increasing stress on the cortex at the level of femoral stem tip.
