A 13-year old male dog with right forelimb lameness, invisible swelling, anorexia and mild depression was referred to Veterinary leaching Hospital, College of Veterinary Medicine, Kyungpook National University. On forelimb radiographic views, periosteal and endosteal proliferation and cortical lysis and extremely aggressive and amorphous periosteal reactions were located along the metaphyseal region of the proximal humerus. Cytologic and histopathologic examinations after amputation showed anaplastic mesenchymal cells that produced osteoid changes, poorly differentiated osteoblast and osteoclast. And also, it included the neoplastic cells with large nucleoli, multiple nucleoli that differ in size and cytoplasm with several clear vacuoles. Based on the physical examination and laboratory, radiolographic, cytologic and histopathologic findings, this case was diagnosed as osteosarcoma of the proximal humerus.

The purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the treatment outcome of proximal tibial graft. Thirty-nine patients were grafted with proximal tibia for the repair of maxillofacial defect. Complications can be considered incidental and neglectable clinical significance. It is concluded that the proximal tibial metaphysis offers a promising alternative sources of cancellous bone for the repair of maxillofacial defect.

Osteochondroma is the most common benign bone tumor which commonly occurs in the metaphysis of the long bones such as proximal humerus, tibia, and distal femur. It is rarely found in bones of the foot. Although they are benign lesions, when they occur in the foot, they are typically identified earlier than other regions because of the low proliferation of subcutaneous tissue in the region and may cause symptoms. We experienced a rare case of osteochondroma in a 60-year-old male which cause pain and swelling of the fourth toe.

In this paper, a new monotonicity, $M({\cdot},{\cdot})$-monotonicity, is introduced in Banach spaces, and the resolvent operator of an $M({\cdot},{\cdot})$-monotone operator is proved to be single valued and Lipschitz continuous. By using the resolvent operator technique associated with $M({\cdot},{\cdot})$-monotone operators, we construct a proximal point algorithm for solving a class of variational inclusions. And we prove the convergence of the sequences generated by the proximal point algorithms in Banach spaces. The results in this paper extend and improve some known results in the literature.

Polyamine titers and the activities of arginine decarboxylase(ADC) and ornithine decarboxylase (ODC), enzymes which catalyze rate-limiting steps in polyamine biosynthesis, were investigated during polar regeneration of Populus leaf segments. The polar regeneration occurred at the basal cut end of Populus leaf segments through cell division around the vascular bundle. In the process of polar regeneration, the titers of putrescine and spermidine increased rapidly but the content of spermine remained constant. The leaf segments were then divided into three separte part ; the proximal, middle and distal. Spermidine titers showed an increase mainly in the proximal parts where polar regeneration occurred. On the other hand, putrescine titers showed an increase in the other two parts. In the course of polar regeneration, the activities of ADC and ODC increased, the ADC activities being higher than those of ODC. However, ODC activity was higher in the proximal part. Therefore, the spermidine contents and ODC activities are suggested to be related to polar regeneration in Populus leaf segments.

The femoral fracture is the most serious problem of old ages haying osteoporotic fractures. First of all, prevention to reduce the incidence of hip fracture and to identify the risk factor is essential subject. The purpose of this study is to investigate which geometric parameters of proximal femur are related to the hip fracture risk in old ages. Author analyzed the bone density and bone content of over 60 years old women who had suffered hip fracture (n=60) and non fracture groups (n=60). Author concluded that geometric measurements of proximal femoral part made on dual energy x-ray absorptiometry can predict hip fracture independently of bone mineral density.

The author studied the prevalence of proximal dental caries of deciduous molar by observing intraoral radiographies of 478 children aging from 2 to 5 who visited the Dep. of Pedodontics, Seoul National University Hospital. The following results were obtained; 1. The prevalence of proximal caries of deciduous molar did not show significant difference between male and female, right and left side. 2. Mandibular deciduous molar had higher prevalence than maxillary deciduous molar. 3. The prevalence was increased with age. 4. The prevalence was highest in the distal surface of lower 1st deciduous molar and lowest in the distal surface of upper 2nd deciduous molar.

The direction of the applied load and displacement rate on the femur during falls may be an important factors in the etiology of hip fractures. Nonetheless, previous studies did not consider these two factors simultaneously for falling condition. Therefore, in the present study, an impact test system is developed to simulate the falling condition and the influence of impact angle on the deformation pattern changes of proximal femur is investigated. The results showed that a slight variation in impact angle quite affects deformation pattern of the proximal femur. Along with bone mineral density and trabaecular morphology, the impact angle can be another important factor affecting the structural capacity of the proximal femur.

In this paper, a new class of $(h,{\eta})$-proximal for proper functionals in Hilbert spaces is introduced. The existence and Lip-schitz continuity of the $(h,{\eta})$-proximal mappings for proper functionals are proved. A class of generalized nonlinear quasi-variational-like inclusions in Hilbert spaces is introduced. A perturbed three-step iterative algorithm with errors for the generalized nonlinear quasi-variational-like inclusion is suggested. The existence and uniqueness theorems of solution for the generalized nonlinear quasi-variational-like inclusion are established. The convergence and stability results of iterative sequence generated by the perturbed three-step iterative algorithm with errors are discussed.

Ossification of the Achilles tendon is a rare condition that is characterized by the presence of an ossific mass contained within the substance of the tendon. The ossified mass is usually asymptomatic but when it grows large and painful, it deteriorates the function of Achilles tendon. We report a case of ossification of the Achilles tendon, which was successfully treated by removal of the ossific mass and proximal flexor hallucis longus (FHL) tendon transfer.
