Algebraic Formal Specification and Formal Validation of the Standard and an Implementation of the OSPF Protocol (OSPF Protocol 표준 및 구현의 대수 정형적 명세 및 정형적 검증)

  • The OSPF protocol is the most widely used Interior Gateway Routing Protocol. Therefore, for the reliability of behavior of gigabit swiching routers, it is essential to guarantee the interoperability and the safety of the OSPF protocol. In this paper, we analyze the standard document of the OSPF protocol, so that we provide a formal specification that specifies the protocol behaviors by detailed design level using the algebraic formal method. By referring available source codes of the OSPF protocol, we supplement the formal specification to express more detailed behaviors that is not specified definitely in the standard. We also formally verify the interoperability and the safety of the protocol state machine of the specification. By showing that the formal specification specify all of the states and the transition events that appear in the standard document of the OSPF protocol, we prove that the state machine has the completeness, and prove it has the interoperability. To prove that the specification of the protocol has the safety, we formally verify the reachability, the liveness, the livelock-free property, and the deadlock-free property. As a result, we prove the protocol has the consistency. The specification and the validation are also effective to the OSPF Version 3 that inherit the protocol mechanism of the OSPF Version 2.

Implementation of the T:1 protocol based on lava Card for USIM (자바 카드를 기반으로 한 UISM 용 T=1 프로토콜의 구현)

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of the T=1 protocol based on lava Card. The T=1 protocol implemented in this paper complies with ISO/IEC 7816 standard. Also, JCOS(Java Card Operating Systems) including the contactless card protocol conforms to Java Card 2.2.1 specification and is running on 32-bit ARM7/TDMI processor. The protocol stack proposed and implemented in this paper is easy to maintenance of protocol independently. To verify the T=1 protocol implemented in this paper we tested the T=1 protocol scenarios defined in ISO/IEC 7816-3 Annex A. And we tested using USIM(Universal Subscriber Identity Module) cards, which include the implemented T=1 protocol. The T=1 protocol was tested and passed all against the specification 3GPP TS 31.122, which was the Conformance Test Specification for USIM cards including the test suites of both transmission protocols.

  • The verification confirms a correspondence between requirements and a specification before implementing. The problem in the formal method verifying a protocol specification using model checking is that the protocol behaviors must be always specified in L TS(Label Transition System). But if Region Automata is applied to the model checking, it is enable to verify whether properties are true on specification specified in I/O FSM(Input/Output Finite State Machine) as well as LTS. In this paper, we verify the correctness of rail signal control protocol type 1 specified in I/O FSM by using model checking method and region automata. This removes many errors and ambiguities of an informal method used in the past and saves down expenditures and times required in the protocol development. Therefore it is expected that there will be an increase in safety, reliability and efficiency in terms of the maintenance of the signaling system by using the proposed verification methods.

  • As a very important part in development of the protocol, verification and conformance test for protocol specification are complementary techniques that are used to increase the level of confidence in the system functions. as prescribed by their specifications. In this paper, we verify the safety and liveness properties of rail signal control protocol type 1 specified in LTS(Labeled Transition System) with model checking method, and experimentally prove that it is possible to check for the deadlock, livelock and rechability of the states and actions on LTS. We also propose a formal method on generation of conformance test cases using the concept of UIO sequences from verified protocol specification.

  • XKMS(XML Key Management Specification), one of XML Security specification, defines the protocol for distributing and registering public keys for verifying digital signatures and enciphering XML documents of web service applications with various and complicate functions. In this paper, we propose XML Key Information protocol service model and implements reference model of protocol component based on standard specification. Also describes the analysis and security method of Key Information Service(XKIS) for Secure XML Web Service,paying attention to the features of XML based security service. This protocol component supported includes public key location by given identifier information, the binding of such keys to edentifier information. This reference model offers the security construction guideline for future domestric e-Business Frameworks.

  • We live in the inundation of information. Information of telecommunication standardization is also overflowing. Accordingly it is not easy to search information front web sites scattered all over the world and to find information which we want to use from the result of searching. For instance, none the less most of standardization organization provides their own search facilities on specification, it is difficult to find specification without information about the specification such as number or title of that specification. In this paper, we introduce Standards Knowledge Management System(SKMS) which provide the easy way of finding information using knowledge map. The SKMS collects information from the standardization-related web sites and categorizes information according to keyword. And users can easily find information with the pre-defined knowledge map.
