  • A proportional share scheduler allocates CPU time to tasks and determines which task will be dispatched according to their priorities. In this paper, we investigate the correlation between the characteristics of applications and task priorities in the Linux Completely Fair Scheduler(CFS), which is one of the representative proportional share schedulers. We also propose a method of controlling the granularity of priority assignments according to the characteristics of applications. We implemented the proposed technique in a Linux system and confirmed the meaningful experimental results.

  • This paper proposes a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) evaluation method for enhancing performance of genetic algorithms. In PID evaluation, the fitness of individuals is evaluated by not only the fitness derived from an evaluation function, but also the parents fitness of each individual and the minimum and maximum fitness from initial generation to previous generation. This evaluation decreases the probability that the genetic algorithms fall into a premature convergence phenomenon and results in enhancing the performance of genetic algorithms. We experimented our evaluation method with typical numerical function optimization problems. It was found from extensive experiments that out evaluation method can increase the performance of genetic algorithms greatly. This evaluation method can be easily applied to the other types of genetic algorithms for improving their performance.

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the operator's safety for the risk assessment method of impulsive noise division. Literature reviews on the basis of the impulsive noise study, the measuring methods and procedures, based on the results of the analysis process presents a risk assessment methods. In this study, analysis of the MIL-STD-1474D, B-duration graph for the peak noise level to cross the line from the measurement results is limited by the risk retracted. It is possible to determine whether there is quick can be determined whether the risk. Measurement positions measured by the microphone is installed on the risk of applying results are so located within the tolerance impulsive noise in the measurement position can interpret subjective safety is ensured. In addition, Proportional Dose technology was the proposed by the Patterson with the risk assessment method was applied to the indoor-impulsive noise. As results of this study, results for the same value of applying the technique of Proportional Dose technology results calculated by MIL-STD-1474D methods allows 1 count once increased in comparison to the result obtained.

  • In this study, we make an effort to find a method to acquire sensitive information when sensitive populations are consisted of several clusters that vary in size. We suggest and systemize the theoretical validity for applying RRT(Randomized Response Technique) to PPS(Probability Proportional to Size) sampling method and derive the estimate and it's variance of the proportion of sensitive characteristic of population by using the suggested method. We compare the efficiency of the suggested technique by two-stage equal probability sampling. We examine practical aspects of the suggested method of RRT by PPS sampling through field survey.

  • This paper presents modern optimization methods for determining the optimal parameters of proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller for coupled tank systems. The main objective is to obtain a fast and stable control system for coupled tank systems by tuning of the PID controller using the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm. The result is compared in terms of system transient characteristics in time domain. The obtained results using the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm are also compared to conventional PID tuning method like the Ziegler-Nichols tuning method, the Cohen-Coon method and IMC (Internal Model Control). The simulation results have been simulated by MATLAB and show that tuning the PID controller using the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm provides a fast and stable control system with low overshoot, fast rise time and settling time.

  • This paper is concerned with the single vendor single buyer integrated production inventory problem. To make this problem more practical, space restriction and lead time proportional to lot size are considered. Since the space for the inventory is limited in most practical inventory system, the space restriction for the inventory of a vendor and a buyer is considered. As product's quantity to be manufactured by the vendor is increased, the lead time for the order is usually increased. Therefore, lead time for the product is proportional to the order quantity by the buyer. Demand is assumed to be stochastic and the continuous review inventory policy is used by the buyer. If the buyer places an order, then the vendor will start to manufacture products and the products will be transferred to the buyer with equal shipments many times. The mathematical formulation with space restriction for the inventory of a vendor and a buyer is suggested in this paper. This problem is constrained nonlinear integer programming problem. Order quantity, reorder points for the buyer, and the number of shipments are required to be determined. A Lagrangian relaxation approach, a popular solution method for constrained problem, is developed to find lower bound of this problem. Since a Lagrangian relaxation approach cannot guarantee the feasible solution, the solution method based on the Lagrangian relaxation approach is proposed to provide with a good feasible solution. Total costs by the proposed method are pretty close to those by the Lagrangian relaxation approach. Sensitivity analysis for space restriction for the vendor and the buyer is done to figure out the relationships between parameters.

  • Objective : This research is aimed to compare the three sets of Dongin(K-1, K-2, K-3) to Chosun and Chinese acupuncture bronze men, and through literature review of acupuncture points and meridians to see how acupuncture of Chosun affected the Japan's acupuncture bronze men. Methods : Using 3D scanning, we compared the location of acupoints by the proportional bone measurement method of the three sets of Dongin to those of Chosun and China. We also compared the meridians and acupuncture points of the three sets of Dongin to Doningyosodo. Results : Dongin K-1 and K-2 have all the unique characteristics of ChimGuemDongIn. Their heads were made about 30% larger than the location of points by the proportional bone measurement method and their necks were shortened to get the right proportion. Their gender was not specified. Their hands were sticking forward, and knees were slightly bent, and the arms and legs were carefully crafted to record acupuncture points. Dongin K-1 and K-2 marked the meridians and acupuncture points according to Doningyosodo. In particular, BL39 in Dongin K-1 and K-2 has been marked as in ChimGeumDongIn, which is considered to have come from DongUiBoGam. These characteristics do not exist in Chinese acupuncture bronze men. The location of points by the proportional bone measurement method was marked on the right side of the Dongin K-3, while the eight extra meridians were marked on the left side. Conclusions : In summary, Dongin K-1 and K-2 indicate the Japanese history of acupuncture which may have influenced from Chosun.

  • I reduced overexposed X-Ray film image with farmer reduction method and $KMnO_4$ reduction method. The results are as follows : 1. In farmer reduction method, there appears linear decreasing film image density. 2. In $KMnO_4$ reduction method, there appears over proportional reduction. 3. When red prussiate is compared with $KMnO_4$ reduction method, the latter shows more intense reduction. 4. If the reduction solution isn't used within 10 minutes after dilution, it becomes oxidized and the ability is decreased remarkably.
