Repetitive and proportional-resonant controllers can effectively reject grid harmonics in grid-connected inverters because of their high gains at the fundamental frequency and the corresponding harmonics. However, the performances of these controllers can seriously deteriorate if the grid frequency deviates from its nominal value. Non-ideal proportional-resonant controllers provide better immunity to variations in grid frequency by widening resonant peaks at the expense of reducing the gains of the peaks, which reduces the effectiveness of the controller. This paper proposes a repetitive control scheme for grid-connected inverters that can track changes in grid frequencies and keep resonant peaks lined up with grid frequency harmonics. The proposed controller is implemented using a digital signal processor. Simulation and practical results are presented to demonstrate the controller capabilities. Results show that the performance of the proposed controller is superior to that of a proportional-resonant controller.
A new type of the fluid circulation blood pressure simulator was proposed to enhance the blood pressure simulator used for the development and evaluation of automatic sphygmomanometers. Various pressure waveform of fluid flowing in the pipe was reproduced by operating the proportional control valve after applying a pressure on the fluid in pressurized oil tank. After that, appropriate fluid was supplied by operating the proportional control valve, which enabled to reproduce various pressure wave of the fluid flowing in the tube. To accomplish this work, the mathematical model was carefully reviewed in cooperating with the proposed simulator. After modeling the driving signal as input signal and the pressure in internal tube as output signal, the simulation on system parameters such as internal volume, cross-section of orifice and supply pressure, which are sensitive to dynamic characteristic of system, was accomplished. System parameters affecting the dynamic characteristic were analyzed in the frequency bandwidth and also reflected to the design of the plant. The performance evaluator of fluid dynamic characteristic using proportional control signal was fabricated on the basis of obtained simulation result. An experimental apparatus was set-up and measurements on the dynamic characteristic, nonlinearity, and rising and falling response was carried out to verify the characteristic of the fluid dynamic model. Controller was designed and thereafter, simulation was performed to control the output signal with respect to the reference input in the fluid dynamic model using the proposed proportional control valve. Hybrid controller combined with an proportional controller and feed-forward controller was fabricated after applying a disturbance observer to the control plant. Comparison of the simulations between the conventional proportional controller and the proposed hybrid simulator indicated that even though the former showed good control performance.

This study presents the design of digital amplifier.controller for a proportional control valve and the development of PID discrete control scheme by using RCP(Rapid Controller Prototyping) system. RCP system is the device to embed the control code developed in PC into the microcontroller on-site. Ramp input test using the digital amplifier.controller developed in this study was carried out for the proportional control valve of domestic production and Bosch Rexroth respectively. The instability problem occurred around maximum displacement of localized valve spool at ramp input test was solved by supplementing offset current to the duty ratio of PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) driving signal to the solenoid. The comparison of test results between localized proportional control valve and Bosch Rexroth's product shows that the characteristics obtained by ramp input test and static flow gains are alike each other. Two valves are about the same in dead bands and hysteresis characteristics.
There are many types of grid-connected inverter controllers; Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF)-based controller is the most popular methods. SRF-based controller is capable for reducing both of zero-steady state error and phase delay. However, SRF-based controller has a complex algorithm to apply in real application such as digital processor. Resonant controller is also reduced zero-steady state error, but its transfer function has a high order. In this paper, a simple proportional control is applied for grid connected inverter with LCL filter. LCL filter is a third order system. Applying a simple proportional controller is not increased the order of closed loop transfer function. By this technique, the single phase model is easily obtained. To reduce steady state error, proportional gain is set as high as possible, but it may produce instability. To compromise between a minimum steady state error and stability, the single phase model is evaluate through Root Locus and Bode diagram. PSIM simulation is used to verify the analysis.

As the analysis and design technologies for electro-magnetic actuation has advanced over the years, proportional solenoid valve is gaining acceptance in wide range of industrial and commercial applications because of its superior characteristics over the conventional AOV or MOV, such as improved performance, reduced maintenance costs. This research deals with the position controller design of two-stage flow control solenoid valve. Investigation of steady-state characteristics and dynamic model identification for pilot disc is performed. Least square method to minimize the error magnitude of frequency response between the closed-loop and target system is applied to the design of PI-controller gains. From the experiments of step and frequency response, it is concluded that the controller meets the performance specification of target system, which verifies the usefulness of controller design method for proportional solenoid valve.
In this paper, simulation and experimental results are presented, including the implementation of a digital controller for robust output voltage control of a single-phase voltage source inverters (VSIs) and total harmonic distortion (T.H.D.v) analysis. Typically, the VSIs uses a proportional integral (PI) controller for the current controller on the inner loop and a proportional resonant (PR) controller for the voltage controller on the outer loop to control the output voltage. However, non-linear loads still produce high-order odd harmonic distortion. Therefore, in this paper, a proportional multiple resonance (PMR) controller with a resonance controller for odd harmonic frequencies is proposed to suppress harmonic distortion. Analyze the frequency response of controllers for VSI plants and design PMR controllers. Through simulation, the total harmonic distortion characteristics of the output voltage are compared and verified when PI and PMR are used as voltage controllers. Both linear and non-linear loading conditions were considered. Finally, the effectiveness of the PMR controller was demonstrated by applying it to a 3kW VSIs prototype.
The output of the controller is said to exceed the input limits of the plant being controlled when a control system operates in a non-linear region. This process is called the windup phenomenon. The windup phenomenon is not preferable in the control system because it leads to performance degradation, such as overshoot and system instability. Many anti-windup strategies involve switching, where the integral component differently operates between the linear and the non-linear states. The range of state for the non-overshoot performance is better illustrated by the boundary integral error plane than the proportional-integral (PI) plane in windup inspection. This study proposes a PI controller with a separate closed-loop integral controller and reference value set with respect to the input command and external torque. The PI controller is compared with existing conventional proportional integral, conditional integration, tracking back calculation, and integral state prediction schemes by using ScicosLab simulations. The controller is also experimentally verified on a direct current motor under no-load and loading conditions. The proposed controller shows a promising potential with its ability to eliminate overshoot with short settling time using the decoupling mode in both conditions.
This paper describes a simple proportional and integral control algorithm for a swirl motor controller and its application. The control algorithm may be complicated in order to have desired performance, such as low steady state errors, fast response time, and relatively low overshoot. At the same time, it should be compact so that it can be easily implemented on a low cost microcontroller, which has no floating-point calculation capability and low computing speed. These conflicting requirements are fulfilled by the proposed control algorithm which consists of a gain scheduling proportional controller and an anti-windup integral controller. The mechanical friction, which is caused by gears and a return spring, varies very nonlinearly according to the angular position of the system. This nonlinear static friction is overcome by the proportional controller, which has a two-dimensional look up gain table. It has error axis and angular position axis. The integral controller is designed not only to minimize the steady state error but also to avoid the windup effect, which may be caused by the saturation of a motor driver. The proposed control algorithm is verified by use of a commercial product to prove the feasibility of the algorithm.
The objective of this paper is to develop a powered wheelchair controller based on EMG for users with high-level spinal cord injury using a proportional control scheme. An advantage of EMG is relative convenience of acquisition by a surface electrode to users. Direction information can be easily extracted from two EMG channels and force information can be acquired by proportional relationship between the amplitude of EMG and user's power, respectively. Pattern classification algorithm is a threshold method with a supervised learning process. Furthermore, the emergency situation can be avoided using an interrupt function. We evaluated the performance of powered wheelchair controller by navigating a pre-defined path with three non-handicapped people. The results show the feasibility of EMG as an input interface for powered wheelchair and other devices for the seriously disabled.
In this study, a dynamic model of proportional pressure control valve using the bond graph and a predictive controller are presented in the form of dynamic matrix control which is concerned with a design method of digital controller for the electro hydraulic servo system. The bond graph can be utilized for all types of systems which involve power and energy, and it is applied to a propotional pressure control valve in this study. Recently, many researchers suggested that better control performance could be obtained by means of the predictive controls with future reference input, future control output and future control error. The Predictive controller is very practical because the controller can be easily applicable to a personal computer or a microprocessor. This study investigates through numerical simulations that hydraulic system with the predictive controller shows very good control performances.
