Choice versus Given: Influence of Choice on Effectiveness of Retailers' Sweepstakes Promotion

  • Purpose: This paper aims to investigate the influence of different methods of distributing sweepstakes (i.e., whether consumers choose to enter into the sweepstakes themselves or they are given the sweepstake ticket by default) on the effectiveness of the sweepstakes promotion (i.e., interest in the sweepstakes and intention to participate in the sweepstakes). Research design, data and methodology: The paper verifies this effect through three experimental studies: an online experiment using a sweepstakes promotion scenario at a department store, an online SNS sweepstakes promotion event, and a face-to-face card lottery game. Results: Participants belonging the group that chose sweepstakes tickets by themselves showed higher interest and intention to participate in the sweepstakes than those who were given the sweepstakes ticket by default. Furthermore, the group that chose the sweepstakes card thought it had a higher probability of winning than the group given the sweepstakes card. Conclusions: This paper shows a way to enhance the promotional effect of sweepstakes in the retail stores, without incurring additional costs, by approaching from sweepstakes design from the psychological perspective of the consumer. The study also sheds new light on the effect of sense of control manipulation using choice behavior in the promotional context.

The Inhibitory Effect of Chlorophyllin is Influenced by Different Promotion Stages in DMBA-TPA-induced Mouse Skin Carcinogenesis

  • To develop a chemopreventive strategy based on the different stages of premalignant lesions, we hypothesized that the inhibitory effect of chemopreventive agents is influenced by different promotion stages during carcinogenesis. DMBA-TPA-induced skin carcinogenesis was used with ICR mice and chlorophyllin (CHL) was applied as a chemopreventive agent. In vitro assay was performed with Salmonella typhi. TA100 to observe any anti-mutagenic activity of CHL against DMBA. Pre-initiation and pre-promotion effects of CHL were observed by CHL treatment before initiation and before promotion. To evaluate the inhibitory effect at different promotion stages, each group was divided into three subgroups after TPA promotion for 6, 18 and 24 weeks, respectively ; the first subgroup was immediately sacrificed after termination of TPA, the second subgroup was treated with CHL, and the third subgroup was sacrificed 8 weeks after termination of TPA without CHL treatment. The degrees of epithelial dysplasia, papilloma formation, and invasive carcinoma were observed histologically, and GST-Pi expression was observed immunohistochemically. ODC mRNA level was analyzed by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction. Results showed : CHL dose-dependently inhibited the mutation of Salmonella typhi. TA100; the incidence of epithelial dysplasia and papilloma formation was lower in pre-initiation and pre-promotion CHL-treated mice than DMBA-TPA-treated mice; no invasive carcinoma developed in pre-initiation CHL-treated groups, while 67% of DMBA-TPA treated mice had carcinomas; GST-Pi expression decreased when CHL was treated before initiation and before promotion; and when CHL was treated after termination of TPA application at 18 and 24- week-TPA promotion stages, respectively, the incidence of epithelial dysplasia and papilloma was markedly reduced compared to non-treated groups. When comparing the incidence of epithelial dysplasia and papilloma between the immediately-sacrificed subgroup and the non-treated group with a waiting period, we speculated that the 18-week-TPA promotion stage might belong to the promoter-independent progression stage. At the 18-week-TPA promotion stage, the level of ODC mRNA in the CHL-treated group was clearly reduced to the level of normal tissue. Taking these results together, CHL showed both anti-initiation and anti-promotion effects, while the inhibitory effect of CHL was prominent in the 18-week-TPA promotion stage. However, CHL seems to be incapable of completely blocking the progression in the 24-week-TPA promotion stage.

간호사의 그릿, 건강지각이 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향: 자기효능감의 매개효과 (The Effect of Nurse's Grit, Health Perception on Health Promotion Behaviors: The Mediating effect of Self-efficiency)

  • 이 연구는 대학병원에 근무하는 간호사를 대상으로 그릿, 건강지각과 건강증진행위의 관계에서 자기효능감의 매개효과를 파악하고 건강증진행위를 향상시키는데 기초자료를 제공하기 위해 시도되었다. D소재 일개 대학병원 간호사 242명을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 자료수집하였다. 건강증진행위는 그릿(r=.29, p=<.001), 건강지각(r=.33, p=<.001), 자기효능감(r=.40, p=<.001)과 양의 상관관계를 나타냈으며 통계적으로 유의하였다. 그릿이 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향에 있어서 자기효능감이 완전매개효과(Z=4.41, p<.001)가 있는 것으로 나타났으며 건강지각이 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향에 있어서 자기효능감이 부분매개효과(Z=3.36, p<.001)가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 따라 간호사의 그릿, 자기효능감, 건강지각에 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인하여 건강증진 행위를 향상시키는 중재방안을 마련해야 할 것이다.

대학생의 건강지각, 사회적 지지가 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향: 자기효능감의 매개효과 (Effects of Health Perceptions and Social Support on Health Promotion Behaviors among College Students: the Mediating Effect of Self-efficacy)

  • 우리는 대학생을 대상으로 건강지각, 사회적 지지, 건강증진행위의 관계에서 자기효능감의 매개효과를 파악하고 건강증진행위를 향상시키는데 기초자료를 제공하기 위해 진행하였다. C 도에 소재 대학생 173명을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 자료 수집하였다. 일반적 특성에 따른 건강증진행위는 성별(t=3.892, p<.001), 전공 만족도(F=5.867, p=.003)에 따라 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 나이, 학년, 전공계열, 최근 3년간 입원 혹은 수술 경험, 경제활동은 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다. 건강증진행위는 건강지각(r=0.439, p<.001), 사회적 지지(r=.532, p<.001), 자기효능감(r=.533, p<.001)과 양의 상관관계를 나타냈으며 통계적으로 유의하였다. 건강지각이 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향에 있어서 자기효능감이 부분 매개효과(Z=3.964, p<.001)가 있는 것으로 나타났으며 사회적 지지가 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향에 있어서 자기효능감이 부분 매개효과(Z=4.24, p<.001)가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 따라 대학생의 건강지지, 사회적 지지, 자기효능감에 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인하여 건강증진행위를 향상시키는 중재 방안을 마련해야 할 것이다.

성향조절초점과 광고메시지유형의 적합성이 미용제품평가에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of the Suitability of the Chronic Regulatory Focus and the Advertising Message Type on the Evaluation of the Beauty Product)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of the suitability of the chronic regulatory focus and the advertising message type on the evaluation of the beauty product. In addition, feeling right while and individual is reading an advertisement is measured to check the mechanism making the regulatory fit effect. The experimental design was designed with the mixed design of 2(chronic regulatory focus: promotion / prevention, between group) ${\times}$ 2(advertising message type: promotion /prevention, within a group). 100 female university student subjects in their twenties in Seoul and in the metropolitan area were asked to respond to questionnaires in the study. The reliability analysis, T-test, analysis of variance(ANOVA), and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) on the collected data were done with SPSS WIN 12.0. The results of the study are as follows. First, the regulatory fit effect that when the individual chronic regulatory fit corresponds to the advertising message focus each other in the advertising of a new beauty product, the evaluation on the product is more positive could be checked. The promotion focus message of shampoo, the promotion focus group showed more positive response than the prevention focus group and as for the prevention focus message, the prevention focus group showed more positive results than the promotion focus group so that the effect of regulatory fit appeared. Second, when the regulatory fit effect appeared in the evaluation on the new beauty product, the fit effect on the individual chronic regulatory focus and on the advertising message focus also appeared in the measurement of feeling right. Hence, feeling right could be checked by using the mechanism of the regulatory fit effect.

  • Purpose: To explain the effect of product quality, price perception, online distribution, and social media promotion on attitudes, customer satisfaction, and local brand love. Research design, data and methodology: The population of this study are Indonesians who have purchased local Indonesian brand products. The size of the sample used was 240 people with purposive sampling method. The analytical technique used is Path Analysis using SEM-PLS. Results: product quality, price perception, online distribution have a positive effect on attitudes, but social media promotion has a positive and insignificant effect on consumer attitudes; product quality, price perception, online distribution, and social media promotion have a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction, and attitudes have a positive and significant effect on local brand love; and customer satisfaction has a positive effect on brand love for local brands. Conclusion: Therefore, it is important for local brand product businesses to pay attention to product quality, price perception, online distribution, and social media promotion in order to be able to build positive attitudes, customer satisfaction and ultimately have an impact on local brand love. In online distribution, with online distribution, it is easy for marketers to deliver multimedia content through online methods.

중년여성의 건강증진 프로그램 효과검증 연구 (An Effect of Health Promotion Program in Mid-life Women)

  • The purpose of this study was to test the effect of the health promotion program in mid-life women. The research design was a quasi experimental, nonequivalent control-group pretest-posttest design. The data were collected from February 24 to April 14, 1998. The subjects were midlife women, ages 40 to 50 years who reside in Chonju city. The experimental group consisted of 41 subjects and the control group 40 subjects. The instruments used for the study were the Self Efficacy Scale and the Health Promotion Behavior Scale developed by Park(1995). The data was analyzed by SPSS/PC. The study results were as follows : Through the 7 week education program for health promotion, self efficacy and health behavior were effectively changed in middle-aged.

임산부 한의약건강증진프로그램의 효과 (Effect of Korean medicine health promotion program for maternal health)

  • Objectives: The aim of this study is to survey on the effect of Korean medicine health promotion program for maternal health. Methods: We conducted Korean medicine health promotion program for maternal health to pregnant women who agreed to participate in this program among 10 public health center. Before and after program, we surveyed the Knowledge Score of Maternal Health Care, Practice of Health Behavior, (Traditional) Child Care Recognition, Depression, Child Caring Confidence and analyzed DID(Difference In Difference). Results: The Knowledge Score of Maternal Health Care of intervention group was improved about 1 point. The improvement of (Traditional) Child Care Recognition was significant. Depression score of intervention group was improved high significantly. The Child Caring Confidence of intervention group was improved about 1.3 point. Conclusion: As a result of analyzing the effect of Korean medicine health promotion program for maternal health, it is confirmed that this program can have an impact on improving Knowledge Score of Maternal Health Care, (Traditional) Child Care Recognition, Depression, Child Caring Confidence. It will be necessary to continue and develop this program widely.

중학생들의 건강증진행위, 삶의 질에 대한 구조모형 (Structure Model for Health Promotion and Service Quality of Life of Middle School Students)

  • Purpose : Middle school students in the early stages of adolescents need balanced growth and development, and they are in the process of forming healthy lifestyles and are in an important period when they need to lay the foundation for a healthy life through active health management and guidance. Through systematic health-related policies and education, I intend to lay the groundwork for them to form healthy lifestyles in their high schools and adulthood. Methods : For this study, a survey was conducted from September 1 to October 30, 2019, and 300 middle school students based in Busan Metropolitan City were surveyed. Based on the analysis and results of preceding studies, a research model was set up to find out the effect of family support, health control activities and self-efficacy on health promoting behaviors and how health promoting behaviors affect the quality of life. Results : First, if family support is high, health promotion behavior and quality of life are analyzed to be high, so family support is affecting health promotion behavior and quality of life. Second, health control behavior had a significant effect on health promotion behavior, but did not affect the quality of life. Third, self-efficacy was having a significant effect on health promotion behavior and quality of life. Fourth, health promotion behavior was affecting the quality of life. Conclusion : In order to improve the quality of life, middle school students should first increase their health promotion behavior, and it is important to be supported by their family members and strengthen their self-efficacy as variables that increase their health promotion behavior. First of all, they should be given the infinite trust of the family and the strong belief that the family always supports them, and based on this, the student himself will be able to strengthen his or her self-efficacy. In addition, the process of physical and mental change of students comes to everyone, but during this process, members of society, such as families and schools, should send them support and trust so that they can grow up to be the decent members of society.

간호대학생의 신체이미지와 건강증진생활양식: 그릿의 매개효과 (Mediating Effect of Grit in the Relationship between Body Image and Health Promotion Lifestyle of Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: This study aims to investigate the mediating effect of grit in the relationship between body image and health promotion lifestyle for nursing students. It was implemented to present basic data for the development of educational programs to establish the health promotion lifestyle of nursing students. Methods: The participants of this study were 169 nursing students in three universities in G City, J Province. Data were descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis. Also mediation analysis was performed according to the Baron and Kenny method and Sobel test. Results: Health promotion lifestyle is positively correlated with body image(r=.53, p<.001), grit (r=.37, p<.001), and body image is positively correlated with grit(r=.33, p<.001). The grit showed a partial mediating effect between the body image and the health promotion lifestyle(Z=3.21, p<.001), the positive the body image(β=.46, p<.001), the higher the grit(β=.22, p<.001), the healthier the health. The level of health promotion lifestyle increased, and the explanatory power to explain the health promotion lifestyle was 33%. Conclusion: Therefore, in order to improve the health promoting lifestyle level of nursing students, it is important to change their perception so that they can view their body image positively. In addition, it suggests that nursing students need to cultivate grit so that they can continuously pay attention to and strive for their health promotion lifestyle.
