The analysis on heat fluxed on and transmission efficiencies by the collimators of neutral beam injection lines in KSTAR tokamak device has been carried out. And a mathematical model describing non-Gaussian beam distribution profile has been established. A neutral beam injection device is composed of 3 separate ion sources and corresponding beam transport lines, which deal with 7.8 MW of beam power, respectively. The divergence angles of ion beam are $1.2^{\circ}$and $0.5^{\circ}$, in vertical and horizontal directions, respectively. The maximum normal heat load on source exit scraper is 9.1 kW/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and net beam transmission efficiency is ~28%. The effect of misalignment of ion source and scrapers on the scraper heat load and beam transmission also has been analyzed.

Planar laser-induced fluorescence(PLIF) has been widely used to obtain two dimensional fuel distribution. Acetone PLIF is chosen because fluorescence signal from acetone as a fluorescent tracer is less sensitive to oxygen quenching than other dopants. Acetone PLIF is applied to measure quantitative air excess ratio distribution in an engine fueled with LPG. Acetone is excited by KrF excimer laser (248nm) and its fluorescence image is acquired by ICCD camera with a cut-off filter to suppress Mie scattering from the laser light. For the purpose of quantifying PLIF signal, an image processing method including the correction of laser sheet beam profile is suggested. Raw images are divided by each intensity of laser energy and profile of laser sheet beam. Inhomogeneous fluorescence images scaled with the reference data, which is taken by a calibration process, are converted to air excess ratio distribution. This investigation shows instantaneous quantitative measurement of planar air excess ratio distribution for gaseous fuel.
The major garlic component, Allicin [diallylthiosulfinate, or (R, S)-diallyldissulfid-S-oxide] is known for its medicinal effects, such as antihypertensive activity, microbicidal activity, and antitumor activity. Allicin and diallyldisulfide, which is a converted form of allicin, inhibited the cholesterol level in hepatocytes, in vivo and in vitro. The metabolism of allicin reportedly occurs in the microsomes of hepatocytes, predominantly with the contribution of cytochrome P-450. However, little is known about how allicin affects the genes involved in the activity of hepatocytes in vivo. In the present study, we used the short-term intravenous injection of allicin to examine the in vivo genetic profile of hepatocytes. Allicin up-regulate ten genes in the hepatocytes. For example, the interferon regulator 1 (IRF-I), the wingless-related MMTV (mouse mammary tumor virus) integration site 4 (wnt-4), and the fatty acid binding protein 1. However, allicin down-regulated three genes: namely, glutathione S-transferase mu6, a-2-HS glycoprotein, and the corticosteroid binding globulin of hepatocytes. The up-regulated wnt-4, IRF-1, and mannose binding lectin genes can enhance the growth factors, cytokines, transcription activators and repressors that are involved in the immune defense mechanism. These primary data, which were generated with the aid of the Atlas Plastic Mouse 5 K Microarray, help to explain the mechanism which enables allicin to act as a therapeutic agent, to enhance immunity, and to prevent cancer. The data suggest that these benefits of allicin are partly caused by the up-regulated or down-regulated gene profiles of hepatocytes. To evaluate the genetic profile in more detail, we need to use a more extensive mouse genome array.

This paper investigates the effects of retaining ring materials, particularly PPS and PEEK, used in the CMP process, on wafer polishing and ring wear. CMP can be performed using bonded type retaining rings made with PPS or injection molding type retaining rings made with PEEK. In this study, after polishing a wafer with a PPS retaining ring, the average profile height of the wafer was 0.098 ㎛ less than that of the wafer polished with a PEEK retaining ring, implying that PPS retaining rings achieve a higher polishing rate. In addition, the center area of the wafer profile had less deviation and improved flatness after polishing with the PPS ring. These results indicate that a higher polishing rate and smaller profile height deviation can be achieved using retaining rings made with PPS compared to retaining rings made with PEEK. Therefore, with semiconductor circuit patterns becoming finer and wafer sizes becoming larger, the use of PPS in CMP retaining rings can obtain more stable wafer polishing results compared to that of PEEK.

As plastics shrink when changing from a molten to a solid state, mold cavities must by made larger than the product specification, In making molded gears, the teeth in the cavity must be carefully compensated for shrinkage so that the teeth of gears will have the correct profile. Two compensation methods are widely used in the cavity design. One is the compensation of a module and the other is the modification of a pressure angle and profile shifting coefficient. These methods, however, do not provide a gear cavity with all disign parameters for gears and several parameters are determined by experience. In this paper, the new design technique, namely the compensation method of design parameters, was proposed , which is based on the three kinds of shrinkage rates obtained from the measuring data of the prototype of molded gears. Using the shrinkage rates in the tip circle, tooth heigth and tooth thickness, we calculate the whole design parameters of a gear cavity. Thus, the gear cavity is considered as a complete gear with the compensated module, pressure angle, profile shifting coefficient, clearance coefficient and back lash amount so that the formula of gears can be applied to the cavity design effectively. Experimental results show that more precision molded gears can be made by using the proposed design method.
The hemopoietic effects of deer blood (whole blood, blood cell, plasma, respectively) were examined using in vivo rat model. Experimental animals (Sprague-Dawley rat, male, 200 g) were divided into negative control group (injection of saline), positive control group (injection of Sipjeondaebotang) experimental groups (injection of whole blood, blood cell, plasma) and healthy control group. Cyclophosphamide(150mg/kg) was injected into experimental groups, negative and positive control group to induce bone marrow supression. After 8 days, freez dried deer blood (whole blood, blood cell, plasma respectively) and Sipjeondaebotang of 200 mg/kg in dose was administered orally into experimental groups and positive control group, once a day for 3 days (A group) and once a day for 12 days (B group) respectively. And then body weight and organ weight, biochemical profile (ALB, GOT, GPT, PRO, CRE), hematological values (WBC, RBC, HGB, HCT, MCV, MCH, MCHC, PLT) and CBC differentiation (Neutro, Lymph, Mono, Reticulo) were carried out. Finally, platelets were specially increased in the plasma treated A group and reticulocytes were specially increased in the plasma treated B group.
Purpose: Glucose has been recommended as an analgesic for mild to moderately painful procedures in neonates. The goal of this study was to assess the optimal dextrose concentration for pain control in newborns. Methods: This prospective, randomized, blinded clinical trial included 116 healthy full-term newborns. The neonates were randomly assigned to the following four groups by drawing straws: groups receiving sterile water or a 10%, 20%, or 40% dextrose solution orally. Each group was treated with the assigned solution prior to hepatitis B vaccination. The Neonatal Facial Coding System (NFCS) and the Neonatal Infant Pain Scale (NIPS) scores were evaluated before, immediately after, and 2 minutes after the injection in all neonates. Premature Infant Pain Profile (PIPP) scores were evaluated during the injection. All procedures were video-recorded, and pain scores were assessed by two independent observers who were not involved in the care of the newborns studied. The pain scores were compared among the four groups. Results: The 40% dextrose solution significantly reduced the NFCS (P=0.002) and the PIPP scores (P=0.001) compared with sterile water. No hyperglycemic events were noted in the study subjects 2 hours after the injection. Conclusion: The 40% dextrose solution effectively relieved pain due to intramuscular injection in full-term newborns without causing hyperglycemic events. However, the 10% and 20% dextrose solutions did not affect neonatal pain scores.

Precision injection molding is an important technology for improving productivity and lowering costs in the fields of medical components, lenses and electrical connectors. The quality of injection molded parts is affected by various processing conditions such as filling time and packing pressure profile. It is difficult to consider all the variables at the same time for prediction of the quality. In this study, the genetic algorithm was used to obtain the optimal processing conditions for minimizing the volumetric shrinkage of molded parts. For a higher convergence rate, the method of design of experiments was used to analyze the relationship between processing conditions and volumetric shrinkage of molded parts, which served as analysis tool for the capability of searching optimal processing conditions but also greatly reduces the calculation time by utilizing the information of searching area. As a practical example, compact disks that require micron-level precision were chosen for the study.

This paper deals with the torque ripple reduction of permanent magnet synchronous motor using harmonic current injection. Torque ripple of electric motor reduces system stability and performances, therefore efforts to reduce torque ripple are exerted in the design process. Torque ripple can be reduced by appropriate pole/slot combination, skew of rotor or stator, design of magnetic circuit, etc. In addition, torque ripple can be also reduced by input voltage and current, and many researches have been conducted to reduce torque ripple for six-step drive. Torque ripple reduction for current vector controlled permanent magnet synchronous motor also have been conducted and verified by investigating back emf wave form. Torque ripple reduction in this paper started from getting torque profile according to input current and electrical angle calculated by FEA, then instantaneous currents at each electrical angles for constant torque are calculated and applied to experiments. Therefore, 0% of torque ripple can be obtained theoretically with harmonic current injection. In order to maximize the effect of torque ripple reduction, a BLDC motor having high harmonic component of back emf is chosen. With sinusoidal current drive, over 100% of torque ripple is obtained initially, then 0.5 % of torque ripple is obtained by FEA using harmonic current injection. The effect is verified by experiment and the presented method can be effectively applicable to Electric Power Steering(EPS).

To simulate the real molding conditions, the effects of phase change and compressibility of the resin were considered in the present investigation. A modified Cross model with either an Arrhenius-type or WLF-type functional form was used for modeling viscosity of the resin. A double-domain Tait equation of state was employed to describe the compressibility of the resin during molding. The energy balance equation including latent-heat dissipation fur semi-crystalline materials was solved in order to predict the solidified layer and temperature profile. Injection molding experiments were carried out using polypropylene(PP) in the present study. Based on the comparison between experiments and simulations, it was found out the predicted pressure distributions and melt front propagations were accurate. Thus it was concluded that the program developed in this study was proved to be useful in simulations of injection molding process.
