This study compares the economic impacts among ICT sectors and derives strategic considerations for development of the ICT industry in Korea. Prior to analysis, this study classified ICT industry into four sectors: ICT equipment, components, service, and SW/system. This study conducted Input-Output Analysis on the four ICT sectors. An Input-Output Analysis is a quantitative economic technique that represents the direct and indirect interdependencies between different industries of a national economy. Features of each ICT sector were observed in the results. Within the ICT equipment sector, production is decreasing, import dependence is increasing, and employment size is very low, relative to the overall ICT industry. The component sector accounts for the over half of the output and value added of the ICT industry, but domestic production has recently declined. The subsector experienced decreasing production and increasing imports relative to the other ICT subsectors. In the service sector, output is small but its production and employment impact is very high. The fourth sector, ICT SW/system, has very low impact on production but high impact on employment. These features suggest two strategies to develop the ICT industry in Korea. First, the ICT component and service sectors should be promoted to stimulate growth of the national economy. Second, to encourage employment growth, policies should promote the ICT SW/system and service sectors.

To provide empirical evidence on the impact of export instability on economic growth in developing countries, this study estimated the neoclassical production function using data of the Jordanian economy for the period 1995-2019. Real exports, real capital, and export instability were the independent variables in the production function. To determine the appropriate methodology for estimating the production function, the study conducted some preliminary tests, including the Augmented-Dickey Fuller (ADF), on the study data. The results of this test indicated that all study variables were stationary at first difference. Therefore, the Johanson cointegration test was applied to determine that there was cointegration between the study variables since the results of the former test indicated that there was one cointegration vector between these variables. The cointegration equation revealed a positive and statistically significant impact of real capital, real exports, and an indicator of export instability on economic growth. The most important policy implications for these results would be reducing the geographical concentration of exports through the expansion of free trade agreements (FTA) to enhance the positive impact of the instability of exports on economic growth. Moreover, the study recommends strengthening export-oriented actions to achieve higher levels of economic growth.

The study aims to determine the influencing factors and their impact on the management of the forest land used for production allotted to peasant households and proposes solutions to improve its management. Secondary data was calculated until the end of 2019 at state agencies. The primary data was collected through 2 steps. To determine the factors influencing forest land management for production, step one involved a survey of 100 households that were given access to forest land. Step 2 involved a survey of 215 households to determine how factors impacted the Likert scale's five levels. The study also used a multivariate regression model and SPSS24.0 software to determine the impact rates of factor groups. The study indicated 43 factors that belong to 11-factor groups affecting the management of forest land for production. The policy and legal factors group is the most influential, with an impact rate of 12.72%, followed by 10 other factor groups with impact rates ranging from 4.08% to 11.74%. The solutions include improving policies and laws, strengthening the dissemination of policies and laws; encouraging investment, completing cadastral work, intensifying inspection, examination, and sanctioning of administrative violations of land, upgrading the infrastructure system, and ensuring enough human resources to manage forest land.

Smoking bans at restaurants and bars have recently been introduced in Korea. Researchers and stakeholder are interested in the resulting changes in sales of restaurants and bars and their impact on overall national economy including employment. We examined the input-output tables (2013) issued by The Bank of Korea. The result showed that the production inducement coefficient was about 2.16; employment inducement coefficient was 13.1 for the restaurant and bar industry. The amount of inducement in the national production was calculated by 93,100 billion KRW. Employment inducement was calculated by 1,219,610 persons overall industries for a year. Assuming there comes a change (3%, 5%, 10%) in restaurant and bar production in consequence of the smoking bans, we computed following change in the national production and employment. The resulting changed in national production was 6,033 billion, 10,055 billion, and 20,110 billion KRW, respectively. The impact of employment overall industries was calculated 79,032, 131,720 and 263,441 persons, respectively.
Southern and south-western Australia is a typical mediterranean environment, characterised by wet, cold winters and dry, hot summers. The evaporation rate varies significantly in summer, resulting in a high salinity of drinking water for grazing animals. In addition, a large amount of land in the cropping areas is affected by salt. Puccinellia, tall wheat grass and saltbushes have been planted to improve the soil condition and to supply feed for grazing animals. Animals grazing these areas often ingest an excessive amount of salt from soil, forage and drinking water which can reduce feed intake, increase the water requirement, depress growth and affect body composition as demonstrated in sheep. While the deer industry has been successfully developed in these regions, the potential impact of excessive salt intake on deer production is unknown. The salt tolerance has been well defined for sheep, cattle and other livestock species, but the variation between animal species, breeds within species, maturity status and grazing environments makes it impossible to apply these values directly to deer. To optimise deer production and effectively use natural resources, it is essential to understand the salt status of grazing deer and the impact of excessive salt intake on growth and reproduction of deer.

Environmental awareness and its relation to the development of economy has garnered increased attention in recent years. Researchers, over the years, have argued that sustainable development warrants for minimizing environmental degradation since one depends on the other. This study analyzes the relationship between environmental degradation (carbon emission taken as proxy for degradation), economic growth, total energy consumption and industrial production index growth in Bangladesh from year 1998 to 2013. This study uses Vector Autoregression (VAR) Model and variance decomposition of VAR to analyze the effect of these variables on carbon emission and vice-versa. The findings of VAR model suggest that industrial production and GDP per capita has significant relationship with carbon emission. Further analysis through variance decomposition shows carbon emission has consistent impact on industrial production over time, whereas, industrial production has high impact on emission in the short run which fades in the long run which is consistent with Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis. Carbon emission rising along with GDP per capita and at the same time having low impact in the long run on industrial index indicates there may be other sources of pollution introduced with the rise in income of the economy over time.
This paper tries to examine the effectiveness of inventory reduction to the productivity increase and the impact of production environments on its effectiveness utilizing the Profit Impact of Market Strategy (PIMS) Database from the Strategic Planning Institute, a large data set that covers a variety of manufacturing activities from the early 1970s to late 1980s. The empirical results of this paper support the robustness of the principle of "Lean Production" or JIT system (also referred to as "Stockless Production"). We also find that the overall environment in which manufacturing strategic business units operate is an important factor in determining the different degrees of effectiveness of the work-in process (and raw materials) invertory reductions. In particular, we find that the effectiveness of the work-in process reduction varies according to the position in the product life cycly as well as the complexity and characteristics of the production processes.roduction processes.
Since lamb is a commodity, producers cannot control the price of the product they sell. Therefore, managing production costs is a necessity. We explored the study of elasticities as a tool for basing decision-making in sheep production, and aimed at investigating the composition and elasticities of lamb production costs, and their influence on the performance of the activity. A representative sheep production farm, designed in a panel meeting, was the base for calculation of lamb production cost. We then performed studies of: i) costs composition, and ii) cost elasticities for prices of inputs and for zootechnical indicators. Variable costs represented 64.15% of total cost, while 21.66% were represented by operational fixed costs, and 14.19% by the income of the factors. As for elasticities to input prices, the opportunity cost of land was the item to which production cost was more sensitive: a 1% increase in its price would cause a 0.2666% increase in lamb cost. Meanwhile, the impact of increasing any technical indicator was significantly higher than the impact of rising input prices. A 1% increase in weight at slaughter, for example, would reduce total cost in 0.91%. The greatest obstacle to economic viability of sheep production under the observed conditions is low technical efficiency. Increased production costs are more related to deficient zootechnical indexes than to high expenses.
This paper presents a model that analyzes the impact of uncertainties in demand and processing times on the production lead time of a Kanban system. We consider the waste associated with under-production as well as over-production when we measure the production lead time. We set up an optimization model to minimize the production lead time. A simple heuristic procedure is developed to determine solutions in terms of the size of containers and the number of Kanban cards. In addition, we numerically examine the behavior of the optimal Kanban system.

Human lifestyle is affected by the agricultural development in the last 12,000 years ago. The development of agriculture is one of the reasons that global population surged. To ensure sufficient food production for supporting human life, pesticides as a more effective and economical tools, are extensively used to enhance the yield quality and boost crop production. This study investigated the factors that affect crop production and whether the factors of pesticide usage are the most important factors in crop production using the dataset from Kaggle that provides information based on crops harvested by various farmers. Logistic regression is used to investigate the relationship between various factors and crop production. However, the logistic regression is unable to deal with predictors that are related to each other and identifying the greatest impact factor. Therefore, causal discovery is applied to address the above limitations. The result of causal discovery showed that crop condition is greatly impacted by the estimated insects count, where estimated insects count is affected by the factors of pesticide usage. This study enhances our understanding of the influence of pesticide usage on crop production and contributes to the progress of agricultural practices.
