  • This study searches for an abstract aesthetic dimension that has an important response to preference by finding products excluded in past studies on aesthetics. Furthermore, the adjective image languages are examined, grouped and examined in order to also take into account the dimensions that are regarded as important for the selected product. Based on this, the preference trends will be inferred and the level of aesthetic dimensions that are import in the product will be found and presented based on its preference to create an accurate objective point. Based on the values of the levels of the aesthetic preference types and aesthetic elements found by this and presenting the preferred types in the design process, the objective of this study is to create designs with small chance of failure. In addition, it attempts to present a new direction for research of aesthetic dimensions.

An Aesthetical Thinking in Phenomenological Research of Nursing Science (간호학문의 현상학적 연구에서의 미학적 사유)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to illuminate the relation between the aesthetics and qualitative nursing research, and especially to consider the aesthetical characteristics of phenomenological nursing research which may reflect works of art. Method: Based on Heidegger, Merleau-ponty and Gadamer' philosophical aesthetics, this study shows how aesthetical thought can be is applied to artistic creation and aesthetical criticism in the phenomenological research of nursing. Result: The result of aesthetical characteristics of phenomenological nursing research were as follows: 1) Poetical thought of the client's experience as the living is revealed as poetic expressions in forms of listening gazing, reflection and metaphor. 2) Literature works, paintings, poetry and fiction used as sources of lived-experience help to awaken insight into the essence of lived-experience. 3) Aesthetical evaluation of phenomenological product as art is related to the harmony as a whole, especially to the ability to do vicarious lived-experience of the client. Conclusion: In order to produce creative phenomenological works in nursing research, two suggestions are made: aesthetical thought and poetic language in phenomenological reflective writing which enables researchers to transmit the essence of the lived-experience.

Purchasing Behavior and Evaluation Criteria on Hat Products (모자 제품의 구매 행동과 평가 기준)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate empirically the consumer behavior regarding the purchase of millinery items in relation to their evaluation criterion and demographic characteristics. The survey was carried out to 395 individuals in their 20s and over who were quota sampled according to age and gender. The collected data were statistically treated with the SPSS 12.0 program in terms of descriptive statistics, cross tabulation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, factor analysis, Cronbach's $\alpha$ coefficient and Duncan-test. The 20s and 50s over were more interested in hat products than other ages. Female consumers obtained the most information about hat products from store visits, TV and magazines. On the other hand, male consumers had it from the acquaintances and internet. Younger consumers more often utilized internet to have it. Their main purchase location was department stores. The younger purchased it more in traditional market, the older purchased it more in mega wholesale market or discount store. The consumers of hat products considered the intrinsic classification most when buying hats. The evaluation criteria employed by them were aesthetics, quality, and external attributes. Hat consumers were more concerned about aesthetics attributes than the other two criteria. Female consumers and consumers who are more interested in the hat and have a higher level of education and income considered aesthetics attributes most important.

  • Many researches have concluded that product advantage or superiority is the most important factor for the commercial success of new products. However, the specific dimensions of product advantage have not been studied as yet. In order to know what kind of product attributes have been major determinants of commercial success, telecommunications winning products from 1985 to 1997 in the Korean market were examined. As results of the analysis, the determinants are classified into function, aesthetics, economy, safety, usability, reliability, brand image, assurance, distribution channel, advertisement, DEF(design for the environment). This study augmented the data set through questionnaire survey to marketing professor in University. The results will be a cue to future of new product development.

  • This study investigated how product attributes(aesthetics and function) and brand power influence consumers' product liking and quality evaluations. Results suggest that subjects evaluated higher no brand product than low brand product. Specifically brand power exhibits no significant influence in emotional product.

  • The purposes of this study were 1) to identify the effect of clothing benefit sought on fashion image sought and 2) to determine the effects of fashion image and benefit sought on purchase intention of Gal-ot. The data were collected via a self-administered questionnaire from 172 female tourist(20 to 50 ages) in Cheju and analyzed by factor analysis, stepwise multiple regression analysis and logistic regression analysis. Four factors of benefit sought were identified : Practicality/economic-value, aesthetics, reputation, and souvenir-value. Six factors of fashion image were found and labeled as: Sexy/feminine, wild/mannish, easy/simple, Cheju image, ecology and natural image. The effects of benefits sought(Practicality/economic-value, aesthetics, reputation and souvenir-value) on fashion image(Sexy/feminine, easy/simple, Cheju and natural image) were found. There were also significant effects of benefit sought(souvenir-value) and fashion image(Cheju image) on purchase intention of Gal-ot.

Socio-cultural Meanings in Advertisement of Fashion Luxury Products -Focused on Women`s Images- (패션명품 광고에 나타난 사회문화적 의미 -여성 이미지를 중심으로-)

  • Fashion luxury products, which used to mean high-quality, handcrafted not-so-trendy items, are nowadays regarded as expensive fashion merchandise produced under the name of imported well-known brands. People cunsuming fashion luxury products distinguish themselves from other people according to the luxury fashion brands they are using, and as a result, advertisements of fashion luxury products are taken as a kind of international language. The purpose of this study is to point out the socio-cultural meanings of consuming fashion luxury products, by analyzing images shown in advertisements of fashion luxury products focusing on women's images. To do so, this study is based on general theoretical background on fashion, consumer culture advertising and analysis advertisements of fashion luxury products shown in fashion magazines in recent three years. The result of this study is as follows; The images of the advertisements of fashion luxury products could be categorized as (1) elegance, (2) kitsch and (3) fetish. Elegance is a taste of high society, aesthetically chic and feminine. Fashion luxury products, which are merchandise of extravagance, dignity, refinement, feminity and harmony, exhibit high-quality grace through their advertisements. Kitsch represents the vulgar and popular images of trivial commodities of industrial society. In the advertisement of fashion luxury product, it is shown as inappropriateness, excessiveness, stereotyped pleasantness, exaggeration an playful satisfaction. Finally, fetish images represent erotic or perverted sexuality, based on psychoanalytic fetishism which objects are regarded s substitute of sexual orgasm. The advertisements of fashion luxury product are characterized as (1) popularization of luxury, (2) objectification of sex and body, and (3) re-aestetification of anti-aesthetics. The asvertisements of fashion luxury products are actually targeted to the middle class with successful career women's images. They objectify female bodies through fetishistic images. Also, the deviant subcultural style, represented a new kind of cultural capital, is now reproduced as a new commodity aesthetics.

A Study On the Brand Image of Korean Herbal Cosmetics (한방화장품의 브랜드 이미지에 관한 연구)

  • This paper provides comparison and analysis between brand images of Korean herbal cosmetics and general, imported cosmetic brands, focusing on product's symbolic and functional images. The objective is to evaluate brand images of Korean herbal cosmetics to suggest a powerful brand image strategy that will be different and competitive. Data collection was performed on 300 adult women who were over 20 years of age and lived in Seoul or KyongKi area. Analysis was carried out using SPSS version 11.5 and frequency analysis, T-Test and $X^2$ verification was also performed. Analysis results for brand images of Korean herbal cosmetics are as follows. First, satisfaction scale as a purchase feature for users of Korean herbal cosmetics were 'Normal' 51.5%, 'Satisfactory' 35.1%, 'Very Satisfactory' 8.2% and 'Unsatisfactory' 5.2%. Regarding improvements, 'Efficacy, Effect' was the highest with 46%. Second, 'SEOLHWASOO' and 'BAEKOKSENG' among Korean herbal cosmetic brands, 'IOPE' and 'ISA KNOX' among general cosmetic brands and 'LANCOME' and 'CHANEL' among imported cosmetic brands displayed high recognition. Third, the symbolic and functional images of Korean herbal cosmetic brands were seen to be better compared to their general and imported counterparts. Especially, product related features of Korean herbal cosmetic brands received a more positive response compared to imported brands, which suggests that with research and improvement regarding non-product related features, functional images of herbal brands may be appraised ahead of imported brands. Fourth, there is a significant difference in brand preference according to the satisfaction of groups who actually use herbal cosmetics and the purchasing attitudes of groups who do not. Therefore, an active relationship marketing strategy is required to maximize satisfaction and to elicit favorable attitudes. By developing functional native ingredients, constructing data that can prove its efficacy and effects, and appealing its unique, differentiated symbolic value together with Orientalism, herbal medicines will be able to take off to be acknowledged worldwide.

Convergence Research for CIGS Solar Cell Aesthetics Product Design Development for Utilizing Urban Living Structures (도시 생활구조물 활용을 위한 CIGS 태양전지 심미성 향상 제품디자인 개발융합연구)

  • This paper is a product design convergence study to improve the aesthetic quality of CIGS solar cells for utilizing urban living structures, identifying problems of existing solar cell panels and drawing expert aesthetic elements for improving CIGS solar cells through survey and [Group discussion of experts] based on aesthetic elements of product design. Out of the aesthetic elements derived, the top three models of the product design process were 'environmental harmonization', 'pattern balance', and 'period universality' to derive the design and assembly design of the CIGS solar cell module for improving aesthetic quality, and applied to apartments, veranda, windows, and streetcar through product simulation. This study is suitable for applying aesthetic and CIGS solar cell function later to actual urban living structure, and future research direction needs to be studied on various patterns and structural design development of design.

A Study on the Female Adolescents′ Dissatisfaction Factors and Preferred Images of Underwear -Focused on 13-18 Aged Female Adolescents in Busan- (청소년기 여학생의 내의 상품에 관한 불만족 요인과 선호이미지 연구- 부산시내 중고생을 중심으로-)

  • In this study. with the discovery of adolescents' dissatisfaction factors and preferred images of underwear, the Potentiality of adolescents' underwear market was illuminated. For the purpose of this study, focused group interviews were performed to develop a questionnaires. And data was collected from 309 adolescents female consumer in the age of 13-18 living in busan. The fellowing are the results from the study. First. the female adolescents' dissatisfaction with underwear was analyzed into seven factors. such as buying decision, deformation after laundring, feeling from putting on, price/product variety, the lack of effective design considering body shape, inconvenience for activity and aesthetics. And degree of dissatisfaction was significant different among groups classified by consumer's level of product involvement and consumer's age. Second, the female adolescents' preferred images of underwear are gorgeous/elegant, simple/plain, pure & innocent/modest. active and lovely. From these results, it can be concluded that adolescents' desires of underwear product are different from adults'. Managerial Implications are provided for adolescents' underwear market.
