A Study on an e-Service Platform for Financial Institutions (금융 기관을 위한 e-서비스 플랫폼 연구)

  • Most important to financial institutions is to provide well designed and built services to the customers by accessing their core bank systems and affiliated systems in their partners. This will be essential to introduce new products and services and still be able to count on legacy and collaborative affiliated systems. Winning the war on such service competitions among financial institutions is attainable by seizing the "e-bank" opportunities in B2Bi and CRM (Customer Relationship Management). Such application integrations among systems and "e-bank" services need to be available in the new IT environment. In this article, an If and service architecture adopting unified e-business services platform is proposed. This architecture is able to achieve application integrations among legacy, affiliated, and e-business systems and services. We derive an architecture in unified e-business services platform by investigating current and future e-business services platforms involved in domestic and global international banks. Several financial interchange standards which are involved in B2B business of e-procurement, e-placement, e-payment are also investigated.

  • CM services have continued to grow since the establishment of CM policies in 1997. Recently, strategies for overseas CM services have widely been discussed, because the CM services have expected synergy with planning, engineering, procurement and construction. However, there has been lack of quantitative and comprehensive research to investigate CM trends and prospects. In this sense, the purpose of this research is to statistically analyze total of 2,983 CM service contracts over the past 16 years (between 1997 and 2013) published in KISCON (Knowledge Information System of Construction Industry) in order to examine current status and future direction of CM industry.

3D/BIM Applications to Large-scale Complex Building Projects in Japan

  • This paper introduces recent applications of three-dimensional building/construction data modeling (3D) and building information modeling (BIM) to large-scale complex building construction projects in Japan. Recently, BIM has been utilized as a tool in construction process innovation through planning, design, engineering, procurement and construction to establish a front-loading-type design building system. Firstly, the background and introduction processes of 3D and BIM are described to clarify their purposes and scopes of applications. Secondly, 3D and BIM applications for typical large-scale complex building construction projects to improve planning and management efficiency in building construction are presented. Finally, future directions and further research issues with 3D and BIM applications are proposed.

  • The objective of this paper is to provide a model for effective implementation of costing RAM management in the design and procurement of production facility considering the system cost-performance trade-off. This research proposes a two-step approach of costing RAM design and test of system RAM for production facility. In Step 1, a static model is proposed to find an initial system configuration to meet the required performance based on system RAM and LCC and analyzes the trade-off relationships between various factors of RAM and LCC. In the second Step, we developed time and failure truncated models for system reliability test and analysis. For the computational purpose, we developed computer programs and have shown the sample results. By the sample test run, the proposed model has shown the possibilities to provide a good method to analyze system performance evaluation for both design and operational phase, This model can be applied to a wide variety of systems not only for costing RAM of the production facilities but also for the other kinds of equipment.

  • In the information system service sectors, it is crucial to measure the quality of service. Especially factors determining the quality of service should be identified. For that purpose, in this study, the factors of two research models-SERVQUAL and TAM-are compared, analyzed and tested with data of public procurement system service. The result shows that the factors identified include reliability and assurance of SERVQUAL and perceived usefulness and perceived ease-of-use of TAM. Also, it is observed that the two models sufficiently explain the variance of satisfaction. This study may help improve the quality of information system service.

  • Information technology is an effective means for raising firm competitiveness. In fact, what to purchase or how to purchase it must fall under a highly complex decision-making in which many different stakeholders are involved. These stakeholders are often known to take a defensive behavior. That is, instead of working toward a common goal of organizational performance, each individual of these stakeholders tends to act defensively to avoid risks he/she faces or minimize subsequent changes. Despite a frequent occurrence of defensive behavior in the process of IT purchasing, there has been no research about defensiveness in IT purchasing. Our study aims to elicit different types of defensive behavior in IT purchasing situations and to identify causes of these defensive behaviors. To this end, we surveyed IT professionals having much experience in IT purchasing and took a qualitative analysis on their opinions. We found out that there exist 9 different types of defensive behavior in IT purchasing and identified a set of factors causing the defensiveness and a set of their consequences.

  • In the domestic construction field, BIM and 3D scanning technology are combined to perform reverse engineering. It is necessary to develop guidelines or processes for domestic situations through 3D scenario investigation and reverse engineering projects using BIM. Using the case of actual construction service that performed reverse engineering, we analyze the areas that need to be reinforced compared to the existing advanced cases when creating guidelines. It is recommended to encourage the convergence between 3D scanning and BIM, and to define the requirements and levels of the BIM model in the procedure.

A Study on 7-Eleven's Core Competencies: Focusing on the VRIO Model

  • In this study, the core competencies of 7-Eleven, Japan's representative convenience store, were derived through a qualitative analysis method using VRIO (value, rarity, Imitability, and organization) framework, a management strategy model based on Resource-Based View (RBV). As a result of VRIO analysis, the value can be based on the scale that 7-Eleven ranks first in the Japanese convenience store industry in terms of the number of stores and market share that it has developed based on capital. The rarity is based on the fact that raw material procurement, the main activity of a company, is establishing the nation's largest distribution channel in the entire process, from producers to logisticians and franchisees. The difficulty for Imitability is based on a dominant strategy and has secured a competitive advantage by opening stores in a specific area, improving awareness, and raising barriers to entry. As the largest company in the convenience store industry, it is confirmed that 7-Eleven is the result of organizational power that has built stores not only in Korea but also in 16 countries around the world.

A Study on the Bidding Trends of the Private Consignment Service of Landscape Management (조경관리 민간위탁용역의 입찰추이에 관한 연구)

  • Based on the bidding data of the national marketplace for public procurement service from 2003 to 2015, this study investigated and analyzed the bidding trends of the landscape management public consignment service by analyzing total bidding, type, client, region, license. The results are as follows. First, the total number of bids for civilian consignment services in landscape management increased by 1,112 cases, corresponding to a 487.7% increase over 10 years, and the total bidding amount increased by 144,504 million won, corresponding to a 382.5% increase. Second, in 10 years, the proportion of landscape management in landscaping works increased by 10%, and the bidding amount increased by 3%. Third, in the analysis of bidding trends by type, green areas showed the greatest growth in the number of bids, while the greenery of buildings showed the highest increase in the bid amount. Fourth, local autonomous entities, Gyeonggi province, and the landscaping planting construction industry showed the highest increase in the number of bids and the amount in each field such as client, region, and license. In summary, the number of cases and the bidding amount is increasing year by year. Considering the increasing number of users and demands thereof, the number of bids and the amount of consignment service for landscape management will continue to increase. The purpose of this study is to investigate and systematically analyze the tendency of bidding for 10 years for the private consignment service of landscape management in the current situation, where the importance of landscape management is increasingly emphasized. Another purpose of this study is to discern the necessity of the landscape management business and to provide the basis for incorporating the landscape management business into the professional construction industry in the future, thus providing opportunities for widening the expertise and diversity of the landscaping field. For the following study, the legal basis of landscape management, qualification, equipment standards, calculation of management cost per unit, and the appropriateness of the management cost should be considered.

  • The curtain wall engineering of local high-rise buildings consists of many phases such as design, curtain wail design, manufacture, procurement, construction and facility management, each of which also involves many' actors such as architect, curtain wall consultants, manufacturers, contractors, and facility managers. Moreover, the method for controlling the C/W process of each participant is needed. Eliminating wastes and problems existed in the C/W process can be more effective. What is more, it is necessary to improve the efficiency of the current process and to strengthen the competence through application of SCM to the C/W life-cycle. In addition, it is important that a ]ot of information transfer smoothly and share through information system. Therefore, this study aimed to propose the scope of application and the improvement directions in applying Supply Chain Management concept.
