나노코발트 분말합성을 위한 액상환원공정의 최적화 (Optimization of Wet Reduction Processing for Nanosized Cobalt Powder)

  • Nano-sized cobalt powder was fabricated by wet chemical reduction method at room temperature. The effects of various experimental variables on the overall properties of fabricated nano-sized cobalt powders have been investigated in detail, and amount of NaOH and reducing agent and dropping speed of reducing agent have been properly selected as experimental variables in the present research. Minitab program which could find optimized conditions was adopted as a statistic analysis. 3D Scatter-Plot and DOE (Design of Experiments) conditions for synthesis of nano-sized cobalt powder were well developed using Box-Behnken DOE method. Based on the results of the DOE process, reproducibility test were performed for nano-sized cobalt powder. Spherical nano-sized cobalt powders with an average size of 70-100 nm were successfully developed and crystalline peaks for the HCP and FCC structure were observed without second phase such as $Co(OH)_2$.

  • This study examines the characteristics of spraying conditions based on the change in standoff distance during fine particle spraying while measuring the surface roughness, maximum depth, and maximum width of the sprayed surface. The processing shape of the sprayed surface is analyzed to understand the effects of injection pressure, nozzle diameter, standoff distance, processing shape, processing cycle, processing speed, and injection particles, which are the main factors of fine particle injection processing. Based on the derived characteristics, we attempt to determine the interrelationships of these major factors. The standoff distance is set as a variable factor and a spray machining experiment using a hexagonal shape (from among polygons) instead of square and circular shapes is conducted. Results reveal that research on the characteristics of spraying conditions could be expanded based on changes in the shapes of workpieces.

  • The differential power processor (DPP) system is used to prevent a decrease in the total power generation due to the partial shading of photovoltaic modules. Compared with traditional series strings and full power processing (FPP) converter solutions, the DPP converter system shows advantages in terms of modularization process, volume, and transformation losses. However, the system has a limitation in that the power generation process of differential power processors produces lower power under certain irradiation conditions. This paper proposes a structure and operating algorithm for differential power processing modules that can use a single power converter for multiple strings. The operational algorithm for the differential power regulators allows the maximum power generation to be maintained in comparison with conventional series-connected and differential power processing methods even under various partial shading conditions. The operation algorithm of the proposed DPP is verified by Matlab/Simulink simulations.

Effects of Main Shaft Velocity on Turbidity and Quality of White Rice in a Rice Processing System

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze turbidity and quality characteristics of white rice as a function of main shaft blast velocity and to verify the optimum processing conditions in the cutting type white rice processing system (CTWRPS). Methods: Sindongjin, one of the rice varieties, which used to be produced in Gimje-si, Jeollabuk-do, in 2015, was used as the experimental material. Turbidity and quality characteristics of white rice were measured at three different main shaft blast velocities: 25, 30, and 35 m/s. The amount of test material used for a single experiment was 20 kg, and after processing, whiteness was found to be $42.5{\pm}0.5$, following which, turbidity and quality characteristics were measured. Results: Turbidity decreased with increase in the shaft blast velocity, and as a result, was lowest at 35 m/s of shaft blast velocity among all the other experiment velocities. The trend of cracked rice ratios was similar to the turbidity. Broken rice ratio turned out to be less than 2.0% in all the test conditions. In the first stage of processing, the processing pressure decreased as the main shaft blast velocity increased. Additionally, in the second stage of processing, the processing pressure was at its lowest value at the main shaft blast velocity of 35 m/s. Energy consumption, too, decreased as the main shaft blast velocity was increased. Conclusions: From the above results, it is concluded that the main shaft blast velocity of 35 m/s is best for reducing turbidity and producing high quality rice in a CTWRPS.

Roasting and Cryogenic Grinding Enhance the Antioxidant Property of Sword Beans (Canavalia gladiata)

  • The objective of this study was to optimize the conditions for enhancing the antioxidant properties of sword bean (Canavalia gladiata) as a coffee substitute in two processing methods, roasting and grinding. The optimum conditions for removing off-flavor of the bean and maximizing functionality and efficiency were light roasting and cryogenic grinding (< 53 ㎛). In these conditions, extraction yield was 16.75%, total phenolic content (TPC) was 69.82 ± 0.35 mg gallic acid equivalents/g, and total flavonoid content (TFC) was 168.81 ± 1.64 mg quercetin equivalents/100 g. The antioxidant properties were 77.58 ± 0.27% for DPPH radical scavenging activity and 58.02 ± 0.76 mg Trolox equivalents/g for ABTS radical scavenging activity. The values for TFC and ABTS radical scavenging activity were significantly higher (p < 0.05) than in other conditions, and TPC and DPPH radical scavenging activity were second highest in lightly roasted beans, following raw beans. HS-SPME/GC-MS analysis confirmed that the amino acids and carbohydrates, which are the main components of sword bean, were condensed into other volatile flavor compounds, such as derivatives of furan, pyrazine, and pyrrole during roasting. Roasted and cryogenically ground (cryo-ground) sword beans showed higher functionality in terms of TFC, DPPH, and ABTS radical scavenging activities compared to those of coffee. Overall results showed that light roasting and cryogenic grinding are the most suitable processing conditions for enhancing the bioactivity of sword beans.

Effect of Differential Thermal Drying Conditions on the Immunomodulatory Function of Ginger

  • Thermal drying is a common process used in the food industry for the modification of agricultural products. However, while various studies have investigated the alteration in physiochemical properties and chemical composition after drying, research focusing on the relationship between different dehydration conditions and bioactivity is scarce. In the current study, we prepared dried ginger under nine different conditions by varying the processing time and temperature and compared their immunomodulatory effects. Interestingly, depending on the drying condition, there were significant differences in the immunestimulating activity of the dried ginger samples. Gingers processed at $50^{\circ}C$ 1h displayed the strongest activation of macrophages measured by $TNF-{\alpha}$ and IL-6 levels, whereas, freezedried or $70^{\circ}C$- and $90^{\circ}C$-dried ginger showed little effect. Similar results were recapitulated in primary bone marrow-derived macrophages, further confirming that different dehydration conditions can cause significant differences in the immune-stimulating activity of ginger. Induction of ERK, p38, and JNK signaling was found to be the major underlying molecular mechanism responsible for the immunomodulatory effect of ginger. These results highlight the potential to improve the bioactivity of functional foods by selectively controlling processing conditions.

미세먼지 집진을 위한 직접 하전 방식 정전분무의 최적 동작 조건에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Optimal Operating Conditions of Direct Charging Type Electrospray for Particulate Matter Collection)

  • This paper is an experimental study on the optimal operating conditions of direct charging type electrospray for particulate matter collection. To perform the research, a direct charging type electrospray visualization system was configured to photograph the spray shape of microdroplets, and experiments were performed with varying electrode distance, flow rate, and applied voltage, which are the main factors affecting the particulate matter collection efficacy. Through image processing, the total number of microdroplets according to each condition was analyzed, and the number of microdroplets with a diameter of 1.5 mm or less was confirmed. In addition, by calculating the number of microdroplets per power consumption according to the applied voltage, the optimal operating conditions were derived in terms of energy consumption efficacy, and the microdroplet size distribution was analyzed under the optimal operating conditions. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the optimal operating condition was at a flow rate of 10 mL/min and a voltage of -20 kV in case of 5 mm electrode distance, and at a flow rate of 15 mL/min and a voltage of -30 kV in case of 100 mm electrode distance.

QoS-, Energy- and Cost-efficient Resource Allocation for Cloud-based Interactive TV Applications

  • Internet-based social and interactive video applications have become major constituents of the envisaged applications for next-generation multimedia networks. However, inherently dynamic network conditions, together with varying user expectations, pose many challenges for resource allocation mechanisms for such applications. Yet, in addition to addressing these challenges, service providers must also consider how to mitigate their operational costs (e.g., energy costs, equipment costs) while satisfying the end-user quality of service (QoS) expectations. This paper proposes a heuristic solution to the problem, where the energy incurred by the applications, and the monetary costs associated with the service infrastructure, are minimized while simultaneously maximizing the average end-user QoS. We evaluate the performance of the proposed solution in terms of serving probability, i.e., the likelihood of being able to allocate resources to groups of users, the computation time of the resource allocation process, and the adaptability and sensitivity to dynamic network conditions. The proposed method demonstrates improvements in serving probability of up to 27%, in comparison with greedy resource allocation schemes, and a several-orders-of-magnitude reduction in computation time, compared to the linear programming approach, which significantly reduces the service-interrupted user percentage when operating under variable network conditions.

Eye-tracking 연구: SPA 브랜드 확장에 대한 소비자 지각 과정 (An Eye-tracking Study: Consumer Perceptual Processing of SPA Brand Extensions)

  • 최근 국내 의류 시장에서 SPA 브랜드의 급격한 성장을 기반으로 관련 업체들이 기존 의류 이외에 다른 종류의 다양한 제품(SPA 브랜드 확장)을 출시하는 추세이다. 이와 같은 추세 이면의 심리적 기제를 알아보기 위해서 본 연구는 SPA 브랜드 확장에 대한 소비자 정보 처리 과정을 개념적으로 (1) SPA 브랜드 확장과 원 SPA 브랜드 간의 유사성 지각과 (2) 평가(태도와 구입의향)로 구분하였다. 이후 가상의 3종류 SPA 브랜드 확장(저, 중, 고 유사성 조건)에 대한 소비자의 유사성 지각 과정과 평가를 각각 아이트래커와 자기 보고식 설문지를 이용해 측정하였다. 통계 분석 결과, SPA 브랜드 확장의 유사성 지각 과정에서 외적 정보 탐색량과 정보 처리 수준은 '중>저>고 유사성 조건' 순으로 차이를 보였다. 또한 SPA 브랜드 확장에 대한 태도와 구입의향은 '고=중>저 유사성 조건' 순으로 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 SPA 브랜드 확장에 대한 평가가 유사성 지각 정도와 유사성 지각 과정에서 투입된 인지적 노력량에 영향을 받는다는 점을 제안한다.

셀룰로오스-NMMO 수화물 용액의 압출가공 조건에 따른 셀룰로오스 분자량과 알파 셀룰로오스 함량 변화에 대한 연구 (Study on the Changes of Cellulose Molecular Weight and α-Cellulose Content by the Extrusion Conditions of Cellulose-NMMO Hydrate Solution)

  • 새로운 방법에 의하여 제조된 셀룰로오스-NMMO pre-dope를 이용한 셀룰로오스 섬유 및 필름 제조를 위한 압출가공 시 열분해 및 기계적 분해에 따른 셀룰로오스의 분자량 및 알파 셀룰로오스 함량 변화에 대하여 고찰하였다. 고속분쇄에 의해 제조된 pre-dope를 압출기에 통과시켜 용액으로 제조할 때 가공온도, 셀룰로오스의 농도 및 체제시간에 따라 셀룰로오스의 분자량 및 알파 셀룰로오스 함량 변화가 다양하게 나타났다. 셀룰로오스의 분자량과 알파 셀룰로오스 함량은 셀룰로오스의 농도가 낮을수록 온도가 높을수록 감소하였다. 셀룰로오스 농도 15% 및 짧은 체제시간 영역에서 알파 셀룰로오스 함량은 높은 전단으로 인해 온도가 높을수록 가장 큰 변화를 보였다. 다양한 가공조건으로부터 알파 셀룰로오스 함량변화 거동은 분자량 변화와 다른 거동을 보였으며 셀룰로오스 용액 제조를 위한 압출가공조건이 중요 요인임을 알 수 있었다.
