  • Forward slip is an important parameter often used in rolling-speed control models for tandem hot strip rolling mills. In a hot strip mill, on-line measurement of strip speed is inherently very difficult. Therefore, for the set-up of the finishing mill, a forward slip model is used to calculate the strip speed from roll circumferential velocity at each mill stand. Due to its complexity, most previous researches have used semi-empirical methods in determining values for the forward slip. Although these investigations may be useful in process design and control, they do not have a theoretical basis. In the present study, a better forward slip model has been developed, which provides for a better set-up and more precise control of the mill. Factors such as neutral point, friction coefficient, width spread, shape of deformation zone in the roll bite are incorporated into the model. Implementation of the new forward slip model for the control of a 7-stand hot strip tandem rolling mill shows significant improvement in roll speed set-up accuracy.

  • A purpose of this research is to prove unknown relation -ship between finish bath pH and crosslinking. In pursuit of these goals, we have treated 100% cotton broad cloth with PTCA and BTCA at different pH values. They were used with H$_{3}$PO$_{4}$, NaH$_{2}$PO$_{2}$, NaH$_{2}$PO$_{4}$, Na$_{2}$HPO$_{4}$, Na$_{3}$PO$_{4}$, catalysts to produce nonformaldehyde fabrics finishes. Treatments were applied to all cotton fabrics using a parletry-cure process. For the fully understood on the relationship of finish bath pH effect and cotton cellulose esterification, the relative concentrations of chemical species were calculated from ionization constants. The effect of pH on the cotton cellulose ester was investigated using Fourier transform infrared spectra, the surface area measurement by BET method and wrinkle recovery analysis. Results of differential FT-IR spectra and their relative concentration analysis were compared with those of catalyst treated controls. FT-IR and wrinkle recovery data indicated that the esterfication by polycarboxylic acids is pridependent. A similar phenomenon also occurred when a phosphate or hypophosphite was used. Therefore, it is necessary to choose the optimum pH range of a finishing bath in order to achieve the most effective esterification.

  • We will improve tools performance without the change of a tools' physical shape, if we process mirror like finishing on the surface of cutting tools. Because cutting tools' shapes are very complex, the general method of polishing can't be polished. So we will apply new method of polishing which is magnetic fluid grinding technique. Magnetic fluid grinding technique can polish complex shape's workpiece by pressing the surface of workpiece with magnetic and abrasive grains in magnetic field. Therefore we developed the polishing equipment to improve the performance of cutting tools and experimented on various polishing conditions to determine the polishing conditions of cutting tools.

  • In this study, the fabrication of large area silicon mirror is accomplished by anisotropic etching using MEMS for implementation of integrated optical pickup and the process condition is also established for improving the mirror surface roughness. Until now, few results have been reported about the production of highly stepped $9.74^{\circ}$ off-axis-cut silicon wafer using wet etching. In addition rough surface of the mirror is achieved in case of long etching time. Hence a novel method called magnetorheolocal finishing is introduced to enhancing the surface quality of the mirror plane. Finally, areal peak to valley surface roughness of mirror plane is reduced about 100nm in large area of $mm^2$ and it is applicable to optical pickup using infrared wavelength.

  • Emissions of CO2 occur during the production of cement manufacturing process. During the production of clinker, limestone is mainly calcium carbonate, is heated to produce lime and CO2 as a by-product. It has a major problem, CO2 uptake is not considered in concrete carbonation, just focus in CO2 emission. This study is to develop a simulation model for CO2 uptakes in concrete structures based on carbonation reduction coefficient considering finishing materials. CO2 uptakes unit of concrete cubic meter is calculated by CO2 emissions unit of concrete materials and usage of concrete materials in mix proportion. From the simulation result, CO2 uptake ratios is 2.04 percent in carbonation models of concrete structure during 40 years.

  • The pegging board planning for jacquard weaves was carried out to express a big enough design in 60 inch width. 20 Kinds of fabrics were fabricated by a jacquard loom with a warp density of 168 yarns/inch, a weft density of 100T, and a weight of 180-220g/$m^2$ or 250-300g/$m^2$. The result of sanitary test about Escherichia coli, Staphilococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Salmonella typhimurium showed a sterilizing power of over 90% after cultivating for 30, 60, 120 minutes. And also its property was sustained after laundrying 20 times. The flame retardant properties showed a good result and complied with the flame retardant criteria of KOFEI 1001. Abrasion, laundry and light fastnesses of flame retardant fabrics showed 4-5 grades. The fabrics manufactured from 30's fiber appeared a little fluff and pill on the fabric. Therefore, they need a shearing process after finishing all processes to decrease the fluff or pill on the fabric. The flame retardant fabric manufactured from 30's and 40's fiber showed increased strength and elongation after soaping and dyeing finishing because the fabrics were shrunk.

  • The durable FR treatments such Pyrovatex and Proban have been used for cotton fibers, while the finishes involve toxic ammonia or formaldehyde release during finishing process or finished products. In this study, ecofriendly flame-retardant treatment of cotton fabrics was carried out using UV-curable formulations of Vinyl bisphosphonic acid (VBPA), Acrylaminide and Triacryloylhexahydro-1,3,5-triazine, as a monomer, a comonomer and a cross-linking agent respectively, which can introduce a cross-linked copolymer networks. With an optimal finish formulation, the flame retardancy of LOI 29.8 was maintained even after 10 laundering cycles. In TGA analysis, the DTGA peak decreased from 389℃ to 252℃ and the amount of char yield increased from 6.1% to 46.1% compared to the untreated cotton. In addition, MCC analysis showed that Peak HR and THR decreased by 59.4% and 69.2% respectively, compared to the untreated cotton. The pyrolysis and combustion behaviors of the FR-treated cotton implied a condensed-phase flame-retarding mechanism.

  • This paper investigated optimum process conditions of coating yarn for awning fabric. For this purpose, the simulation for processability and yarn quality using SPSS statistics package was carried out, and PP/TPO and PET/PVC coating yarns specimens were made with variation of extruder temperature and feed speed of core yarn on the yarn coating machine for examining simulation result. It was revealed that optimum coating conditions of PP/TPO 1000d coating yarn were extruder temperature $150^{\circ}C$, and core yarn feed speed 400~500m/min. Mechanical property and thermal shrinkage of PP/TPO coating yarn made at this conditions were best and core evenness rates of these coating yarns by yarn compression tester were also superior, which was certified by SEM photograph. In addition, these experimental results were coincided with simulation results. It was found that, in PET/PVC coating yarn, yarn physical properties between 1500d and 1200d coated yarns were not shown any difference, and core evenness rates of these coating yarns were superior. It revealed and concluded that these simulated coating conditions are applicable to production field.

  • A new, high-efficiency ultrasonic fabric washing machine was developed to be an energy-efficient washing machine and to enhance fabric washing quality in washing processes of the dyeing and finishing process in the textile industry. This system is composed of ultrasonic wave generator, air blowing nozzle, torque motor for fabric tension control, and enclosed washing bath, multi-tube type exchanger, noiseless heater, air cylinder, expander roller, mangle upper and lower rollers, bend bar, dancer, shower spray nozzle, and solenoid valve, and so on. These elements are synergised for fabric washing. One of the very important principles is the low tension fabric running system. For an efficient washing effect, a counter flow system is also adopted. The new system also adopts the dancer and torque motor to control fabric tension and prevent fabric creasing. Shower spray nozzle, counter flow and overflow apparatus, and air-blowing apparatus are adopted to enhance the fabric washing effect. In this study, peach yoryu, exter, and moss crepe fabrics were washed by the general and ultrasonic washing systems under different conditions respectively. The washing efficiency was affected by the fabric running speed and characteristics of fabrics. Size content after washing increased with increasing the fabric running speed. The values in the general washing system were higher than those of the ultrasonic washing system. The changes of conductivity in the ultrasonic and the cooling bath were affected by the running time under the ultrasonic generating. The values of conductivity decreased as the experimental time passed.
