For a successful inter-system handoff, several important issues must be handled and additional new features must be considered. This paper focuses on the cellular structure of small cells which are required for the high density of population and a handoff scheme designed between two heterogenous networks. Incase of inter-system handoff (ISHO), the time required to complete the handoff can vary and depends on the structure of networks. And also the transmission of additional signals can increase the probability of failure for ISHO. Here we propose the sub-boundary cell base station (Sub-BBS) to alleviate the role of the BBS. The Sub-BBS is adjacent to BBS in the same regional mobile network. 쪼en the mobile terminal enters Sub-BBS, the network starts finding a new route and after entering BBS, it initiates the transformation process. The proposed scheme significantly reduces the ISHO failure rate compared to the existing one which is the most recent and known as efficient.
TCP, which was developed on the basis of wired links, supposes that packet losses are caused by network congestion. In a wireless network, however, packet losses due to data corruption occur frequently. Since TCP does not distinguish loss types, it applies its congestion control mechanism to non-congestion losses as well as congestion losses. As a result, the throughput of TCP is degraded. To solve this problem of TCP over wireless links, previous researches, such as split-connection and end-to-end schemes, tried to distinguish the loss types and applied the congestion control to only congestion losses; yet they do nothing for non-congestion losses. We propose a novel transport protocol for wireless networks. The protocol called VS-TCP (Variable Segment size Transmission Control Protocol) has a reaction mechanism for a non-congestion loss. VS-TCP varies a segment size according to a non-congestion loss rate, and therefore enhances the performance. If packet losses due to data corruption occur frequently, VS-TCP decreases a segment size in order to reduce both the retransmission overhead and packet corruption probability. If packets are rarely lost, it increases the size so as to lower the header overhead. Via simulations, we compared VS-TCP and other schemes. Our results show that the segment-size variation mechanism of VS-TCP achieves a substantial performance enhancement.

Ad-hoc networks do not rely on a preexisting infrastructure such as Access Points(AP) in wireless network infrastructure. Instead each node participates in routing by forwarding data for other nodes. It makes required broadcasting to transmit packets to the whole network. In that part, each node tries to transmit data without any information about the other nodes. Therefore it causes duplication of transmission and waste of power. This paper presents adaptive probabilistic broadcasting schemes based on packet reception counts to alleviate the broadcast storm problem for wireless ad hoc networks. In this algorithm, each node calculates efficiency broadcast probability. Simulation results for the proposed flood algorithm are also presented.

Recently, a FMCW radar is used for the various purposes in the short range detection and tracking of targets. The main advantages of a FMCWradar are the comparative simplicity of implementation and the low peak power transmission characterizing the very low probability of signal interception. Since it uses the frequency modulated continuous wave for transmission and demodulation, the received beat frequency represents the range and Doppler information of targets. Detection and extraction of useful information from targets are performed in this beat frequency domain. Therefore, the resolution and accuracy in the estimation of a beat spectrum are very important. However, using the conventional FFT estimation method, the high resolution spectrum estimation with a low sidelobe level is not possible if the acquisition time is very short in receiving target echoes. This kind of problems deteriorates the detection performance of adjacent targets having the large magnitude differences in return echoes and also degrades the reliability of the extracted information. Therefore, in this paper, the model parameter estimation methods such as autoregressive and eigenvector spectrum estimation are applied to mitigate these problems. Also, simulation results are compared and analyzed for further improvement.
The DCF of IEEE 802.11 standard coordinates transmissions onto the shared communication channel based on CSMA/CA protocol. Currently, 802,11 is the most widely deployed wireless LAN standard. In this paper, for 802.11-based wireless LAN we propose a service differentiation scheme adopting different contention window sizes and retransmission schemes for two different types of data packets and we present a Markov model for the state of a given station under a finite load traffic condition. We then derive an algorithm to find the transmission probability and the throughput. The proposed model is validated through simulation under various system settings.

In this paper, we propose a distributed time synchronization technique for OFDMA- based wireless mesh communication systems. The proposed technique employs the bio-inspired algorithm for self-time synchronization in the physical layer. To achieve the network synchronicity, the proposed technique updates the transmission time and the FFT window using the TDoA information of received signals from the neighbor nodes. The proposed technique can achieve fast self-synchronization among nodes with a simple algorithm, without the need of a centralized controller. The performance of the proposed time synchronization technique is evaluated by simulation in terms of convergence speed and convergence probability.

In this paper, applications that require low-speed data rate on personal area network to operate the Land Warrior system is proposed. These applications can refer to WSN(wireless sensor network) technology. However, this technology is not suitable to support various data transmission rate. A suitable CSMA/CA algorithm for Land Warrior System in order to solve these existing system problems is proposed. The proposed algorithm is designed to be variable CSMA/CA algorithm parameter, depending on data rate. For the evaluation of Land Warrior system model and CSMA/CA algorithm, we used Castalia. As a result of the simulation, it is found that the proposed system model can not only relieve loads of data processing, but also probability of collision was decreased.

In cognitive radio networks, a secondary user opportunistically accesses an empty channel based on periodic sensing results for avoiding possible interference to the primary users. However, local sensing does not guarantee the full protection of the primary users because hidden primary receivers may exist within the interference range of the secondary transmitter. To protect primary systems and simultaneously to maximize utilization of the secondary users, we need to derive carefully designed coexistence solutions for various network scenarios. In this paper, we propose coexistence conditions without any harmful interference in accordance with the uplink/downlink schedule and user position. We have classified the coexistence conditions into four different scenario cases depending on the provided information to the secondary network basestations. Computer simulation results demonstrated that the proposed method can be applied to the real cognitive radio system to improve the communication probability of CR devices.

A frequency hopping(FH) signal can change its carrier frequency during transmission and has spread-spectrum characteristics in these frequency bands. Therefore, FH signals are widely used in applications that require low-probability-of-intercept(LPI) and anti-jamming (AJ) abilities in wireless communication environments. In this study, the authors propose a method for generating hopping information (HI), which includes start time, dwell time, and hopping frequency for unknown FH signals. The proposed blind HI generation method produces signal detection information based on the spectrum data and then extracts HI using operational procedures for estimating the target FH signal's status, such as appearance, maintenance, and termination. Further, simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method provides accurate HI without detection omissions for various FH signals.
Low-Orbit satellite mobile networks can provide services through miniaturized terminals with low transmission power, which can be used as reliable means of communication in the national public disaster network and defense sector. However, the high traffic environment in the emergency preparedness situation increases the new call blocking probability and the handover failure probability of the satellite network, and the increase of the handover failure probability affects the QoS because low orbit satellites move in orbit at a very high speed. Among the channel allocation methods of satellite communication, the FCA shows relatively better performance in a high traffic environment than DCA and is suitable for emergency preparedness situations, but in order to optimize QoS when traffic increases, the new call blocking and the handover failure must be minimized. In this paper, we propose LEO-DBC (LEO satellite dynamic beam width control) technique, which improves QoS by adaptive adjustment of beam width of low-orbit satellites and call time of terminals by improving FCA-QH method. Through the LEO-DBC technique, it is expected that the QoS of the mobile satellite communication network can be optimally maintained in high traffic environments in emergency preparedness situations.
