  • Object: The aim of this study is to suggest a list of priority chemicals for the Hazard & Risk Evaluation of Chemicals (HREC) controlled by the Industrial Safety and Health Act (ISHA). Method: Screening assessment was done for 642 chemicals whose exposure threshold limit values were set by the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL). Hazard data were collected from Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency (KOSHA) and/or other toxicity database. Exposure data were obtained from KOSHA internal database. The hazard and exposure scores of chemicals were listed by order of priority in accordance with GHS classification and exposure index data. Result: From the result of screening risk assessment for 642 chemicals, we extracted a list of 13 priority chemicals for HREC performed by the ISHA. A priority list of 27 chemicals which have carcinogen, mutagen and/or reproductive toxicity but not controlled by the ISHA was suggested for additional evaluation as "chemicals for special management".

  • In this paper, We present a low complexity candidate list generation scheme in iterative MIMO receiver. Since QAM modulation can be decomposed into HP symbols and LP symbol and HP symbol is robust in error capability, we generate HP symbol list with simple ZF detector output and its corresponding neighbor HP symbols, Then, based on HP symbol list, the LP symbol list is generated by using the sphere decoder. From the second iteration, since apriori value from channel decoder is available, the candidate list is updated based on demodulated apriori value. Through the simulation, we observe that at the first iteration, the BER performance is worse than LSD. However, as the number of iteration is increased, the proposed scheme has almost same performance as LSD. Moreover, the proposed one has reduced candidate list generation time and lower number of candidate list compared with LSD.

  • This paper deals with the priority queues exploited for the management of future event list in discrete event simulation. Among several implementations of priority queues, MList which consists of 3 tiers has been known to reveal the good performance. To improve the performance of MList, Dynamic-Shift MList (DSMList) is proposed in this paper. Whenever the number of events in tier 3 exceeds a critical number, DSMList creates new calendar queue in tier 2, then moves events from Tier 3 to the calendar queue. Instead of one calendar queue, therefore, a number of calendar queues are dynamically created in tier 2. Throughout experiments for the performance evaluation of DSMList, it shows that at least 20% improvement is obtained compared with MList.

  • Background: Exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) has been considered one of the main causes of a range of endocrine diseases in modern society. An EDC priority list considering exposure, toxicity, and societal concern should be established for EDC management. Methods: The chemical ranking and scoring (CRS) system for EDCs was based on exposure, toxicity, and societal concern. The exposure score system was based on usage, circulation volume, bioaccumulation, and detection in consumer products. The toxicity score system was based on carcinogenicity and reproductive and developmental toxicity. The societal concern score system was based on domestic or international regulations and mass media reports. Results: A total of 165 EDCs were considered in the CRS system. The top-five priority EDCs were Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), Benzene, Bisphenol A, Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and Trichloroethylene. Phthalates, bisphenols and parabens were identified as priority chemical groups. Conclusion: We developed a CRS system for EDCs to identify priority EDCs for management. This will be a foundation to provide an EDC management plan based on scientific decision-making.

  • Recently, the existing embedded real-time operating systems(RTOSs) are being developed in terms of various modified versions in every application fields. Major characteristics and difference of these OSs lie in their distinct development of mechanisms which can be used in various environment and task-scheduling function which can control time-limited contingencies. In this paper, we design and implement round/robin scheduling algorithm based on time-sharing with equal-priority for multiple tasks which are provided preemptive and priority task allocation function in $\mu{C/OS-II}$ version 2.03. We propose the most important event-ready list structure in $\mu{C/OS-II}$; kernel, and provide the running result for multiple tasks with equal priority for the proposed structure.

  • In traditional Publish/Subscribe system, the first procedure to deliver event from publisher to subscriber is that publisher publishes publisher's event to broker. Next step is that broker checks simple binary notion of matching : an event either matches a subscription or it does not. Lastly, broker delivers the event matched with subscriptions to the corresponding subscribers. In this system, information delivery has been accomplished in one way only. However, current some applications require two way delivery between subscriber and publisher. Therefore, we initiate an extended Publish/Subscribe system that supports two way delivery. Extended Publish/Subscribe system requires additional functions of delivering subscription to publisher and especially deciding top-n subscriptions using priority because broker might has a number of subscriptions. In this paper, we propose two priority retrieval techniques based on SIF using IS-List with deciding priority among subscriptions and defining SIF(Specific Interval First). The performance measurements show that RSO(resulting set sorting) technique results in better performance in index creation time and ITS&IS(insertion time sorting and inverse search using stack) technique results in better performance in search time.

  • Purpose: This study identifies preventive measures for VOC management by analyzing the causes and effects of factors that contribute to high risk service failure using FMEA on KORAIL VOC data. Methods: Two research methods were used. First, a Risk Priority Number (RPN) was assigned to each KORAIL VOC based on Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). Second, multiple regression analysis was run with RPN factors that include severity, occurrence, and detection as the independent variables and customer dissatisfaction as the dependent variable. Results: Multiple regression analysis showed that RPN factors including severity, occurrence, and detection had significantly positive relationship with customer dissatisfaction. Based on these results, an FMEA was performed on VOC categories with high RPN for railroad stations including platform, ticketing, ticket verification, parking, and escalator, and VOC categories with high RPN for trains including entrance doors, cafes, air quality, announcement, and ticket verification. Conclusion: This study has practical implications to service failure management. A priority order using FMEA was established for the list of customer dissatisfactions that should be addressed to actively manage service failure, and strategies for tackling this priority list are offered.

  • Antimicrobials in human medicine are classified by The World Health Organization (WHO) into three groups: critically important antimicrobials (CIA), highly important antimicrobials (HIA), and important antimicrobials (IA). CIA are antibiotic classes that satisfy two main criteria: that they are the sole or the only available limited therapeutic option to effectively treat severe bacterial infections in humans (Criterion 1), and infections where bacteria are transmitted to humans from non-human sources or have the potential to acquire resistance genes from non-human sources (Criterion 2). WHO emphasizes the need for cautious and responsible use of the CIA to mitigate risk and safeguard human health. Specific antimicrobials within the CIA with a high priority for management are reclassified as "highest priority critically important antimicrobials (HP-CIA)" and include the 3rd generation of cephalosporins and the next generation of macrolides, quinolones, glycopeptides, and polymyxins. The CIA list is the scientific basis for risk assessment and risk management policies that warrant using antimicrobials to reduce antimicrobial resistance in several countries. In addition, the CIA list ensures food safety in the food industry, including for the popular food chain companies McDonald's and KFC. The continuous update of the CIA list reflects the advancement in research and emerging future challenges. Thus, active and deliberate evaluation of antimicrobial resistance and the construction of a list that reflects the specific circumstances of a country are essential to safeguarding food security.
