Background: Although breast cancer is a major public health worry among Asian women, adherence to screening for the disease remains an obstacle to its prevention. A variety of psycho-social and cultural factors predispose women to delay or avoidance of screening for breast cancer symptoms at the early stages when cure is most likely to be successful. Yet few interventions implemented to date to address this condition in this region have drawn on health behavior theory. Materials and Methods: This paper reviews the existing literature on several cognitive theories and models associated with breast cancer screening, with an emphasis on the work that has been done in relation to Asian women. To conduct this review, a number of electronic databases were searched with context-appropriate inclusion criteria. Results: Little empirical work was found that specifically addressed the applicability of health theories in promoting adherence to the current breast cancer prevention programs Among Asian women. However, a few studies were found that addressed individual cognitive factors that are likely to encourage women's motivation to protect themselves against breast cancer in this region of the world. The findings suggest that multi-level, socio-cultural interventions that focus on cognitive factors have much promise with this issue. Conclusions: Interventions are needed that effectively and efficiently target the personal motivation of at-risk Asian women to seek out and engage in breast cancer prevention. Concerning implications, personal motivation to seek out and engage in individual preventive actions for breast cancer prevention among Asian women is a timely, high priority target with practical implications for community development and health promotion. Further studies using qualitative, anthropologic approaches shaped for implementation in multi-ethnic Asian settings are needed to inform and guide these interventions.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of message framing of social media contents on social media credibility and behavioral intention and the role of customers' gourmet restaurant involvement. In this study message framing is divided into regulatory focus and message sidedness and used experimental stimulus composed of $2{\times}2$ factorial design. Also investigated the effect into the social media credibility and behavioral intention. A total of 560 valid samples were analyzed. According to the results, it was confirmed that stimuli 'two-sided / prevention' and 'one-side / promotion' framing were the most influential framing on social media credibility and behavioral intention and the social media credibility has significant effect on the behavioral intention. In this study the effect of message framing which was not widely used in the hospitality industry research was confirmed. Also the usefulness of regulatory focus and message sidedness were identified in the various research in hospitality management.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine womens' perceptions regarding influenza vaccination during pregnancy among Korean childbearing women. Methods: Data was collected using focus group interviews from June to September, 2010. Forty Korean women participated in 13 focus groups. After obtaining permission from participants, each session of the focus group was audio-taped and transcribed verbatim. The responses were analyzed utilizing qualitative content analysis. Results: Forty women ranging from 26 to 43 participated in the study. The major themes were safety concerns; effects of fetal protection and infection prevention; lack of perceived needs; and encouragement as well as concerns from others. Participants raised questions on whether the vaccine was safe and effective, and concerns about the potential harmful effect of influenza vaccine to their bodies and the fetus. The major reason for influenza vaccination during pregnancy was to protect self and fetus. Also, clinician's recommendation was the facilitating factors for influenza vaccination during pregnancy. Conclusion: The findings suggest that concerns associated with influenza vaccination should be considered when educating childbearing women about the influenza vaccine during pregnancy.
The purpose of this study was to explore the experience of Pap smear screening of menopausal women in W city using a phenomenological methodology. The participants were 5 focus groups consisting of 37 menopausal women. They were selected using snowball sampling method. The data were collected through focus group interviews. Data were recorded and analyzed by Colazzi's method. Significant statements were extracted from the data resulting in 20 themes. These themes formed 12 clusters and 5 categories. The essential themes of the experience of cervical cancer screening emerged as : "unpleasant feelings during procedure", "ambivalent feelings about results", "be guided to seek health", "shrink from interaction with health professionals", "at ease about cervical cancer". The results indicated that cervical cancer prevention strategies for menopausal women need to be based on deep under standing of the personal experiences of Pap smear screening. In conclusion, it is suggested that more specified strategies are needed for menopausal women to encourage them to have regular screening.
Technological advances are bringing autonomous vehicles to the ever-evolving transportation system. Anticipating adoption of these technologies by users is essential to vehicle manufacturers for making more precise production and marketing strategies. The research investigates regulatory focus and consumer innovativeness with consumers' adoption of autonomous vehicles (AVs) and to consumers' subsequent willingness to pay for AVs. An online questionnaire was fielded to confirm predictions, and regression analysis was conducted to verify the model's validity. The results show that a promotion focus does not have a significantly positive effect on the automation level at which consumers will adopt AVs, but a prevention focus has a significantly positive effect on conditional AV adoption. Consumer innovativeness, consumers' novelty-seeking have a significantly positive relationship with high and full AV adoption, and consumers' independent decision-making has a significantly positive effect on full AV adoption. The higher the level of automation at which a consumer adopts AVs, the higher the willingness to pay for them. Finally, using a neural network and decision tree analyses, we show methods with which to describe three categories for potential adopters of AVs.
Purpose: To examine the degree of recognition regarding the concept of patient safety, as perceived by the patient, using a focus group discussion. Methods: A focus group discussion was conducted with a patient group comprising seven patients. Results: When the participants heard the term "patient safety" they seemed to understand it to be related to the hospital environment or satisfaction with the overall hospitalization experience. The participants emphasized communication between the medical staff and the patients in relation to the explanation of treatments, as well as the provision of information regarding prevention, experience, and the treatment of incidents with patient safety. They agreed on the need for indicators reported by patients. However, they emphasized that additional items and a questionnaire method that considers the patients' point of view are needed. Conclusion: It is necessary to establish and implement various strategies that can raise the awareness of patient safety using patient safety indicators and increase participation in patient safety activities.
According to consumer behavior theory, human propensity can be divided into two regulatory focus types: promotion and prevention. These two types have much influence on the consumer's decision in many diverse areas. In this research, we apply regulatory focus theory to personalized recommendation to minimize the cold start problem and to improve the performance of recommendation algorithms. To achieve this goal, we extract the consumer behavior variables and information exploration activity index from web shopping logs. We then use them for classifying regulatory focus of the consumer. This research has the contribution to show the possibility of systematization of consumer behavior theory as an interdisciplinary research tool of social science and information technology. Based on this attempt, we will extend the research to IT services adapting theories on other areas.
This study scarcity of recent online message promotion limited quantity of messages and time the message is limited controlled variable message whose regulatory focus and promotional discounts depending on the presence of any differences in attitudes and purchase intention appears, was to verify empirically. The results of this study, first, if limited quantity of messages focus on prevention rather than focusing on messages promoting promotion attitudes and purchase intention was higher. Second, the scarcity message is simply, as well as adjust the focus, such as price discounts and promotional activities can be controlled by a variety of points were identified. If the message is particularly limited quantity discounts are not present, rather than the message, the message is presented when the discount promotional attitudes and purchase intention, except that the amplification has been demonstrated. If the message is limited time, however, these discounts are worth the extra promotion on attitudes and purchase intentions are least likely to affect the thing that was found.

That is, regulatory focus had some effect on academic achievement through academic burnout based on self-regulatory learning. Finally, the needs of development about the counseling and the education approaches as a special intervention was discussed, and that approaches were reflected self-regulated learning to be improved and academic burnout to be reduced. Also, limitations and implications of subsequent further study were suggested in this research.
In this study, the differential effects of exposure-type digital signage advertisement and interactive digital signage advertisement were examined through the moderating variables of regulatory focus and self-construal. As a result of the study, in the case of individuals with promotion focus and independent self-construal, interactive digital signage advertisements had a more positive effect than exposure-type digital signage advertisements. However, in the case of prevention focus and interdependent self-construal, there was no difference in effect between digital signage advertisement types. Therefore, we can help to establish a customized strategy according to individual characteristics using digital signage.
